For our 100th Anniversary\, Peoples Bank presents Chicago in one of the most intimate settings they’ve ever played. \nHailed as one of the “most important bands in music since the dawn of the rock and roll era\,” Chicago came in at #4 in Billboard Magazine’s recent Top Bands And Duos\, the highest charting American band in the chart’s history. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016\, Chicago is the first American rock band to chart Top 40 albums in six consecutive decades. \nChicago’s first album\, Chicago Transit Authority\, was inducted into the GRAMMY Hall Of Fame in 2014\, and the band performed on the Grammy stage for the first time that year. \nRobert Lamm and James Pankow have become the latest inductees of the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017. These legendary songwriters wrote mega-hits such as\, “25 or 6 to 4\,” “Saturday In The Park\,” “Feelin’ Stronger Every Day\,” “Make Me Smile\,” and many others. \nMore than 40 years after its debut\, Chicago still sounds like nothing else. Released in 1970\, Chicago’s second album brims with confidence and inspiration as it draws on everything from orchestral music to heavy rock. It spawned a trio of Top Ten hits\, and the timeless classic has been remastered to reveal unprecedented clarity and definition. For the first time a new stereo remix\, created by British musician and producer Steven Wilson from the 16-track multi-track tapes\, made it possible to bring out elements that were muffled or submerged in the mix. The result is a new stereo version of CHICAGO II that boasts clearness\, punch and definition that it didn’t have before. It has recently been released by Rhino Records on CD and vinyl. \nCHICAGO’s award-winning documentary film\, Now More Than Ever: The History Of Chicago premiered on CNN. The documentary film was originally shown at the Sedona International Film Festival in February\, 2016\, and won the Film Festival’s Best of Fest Audience Choice Award. The band opened the festival with back-to-back sold-out performances. \nAdditionally\, Now More Than Ever: The History of Chicago won three awards in April\, 2016\, at the 10th Annual Fort Myers Beach Film Festival\, taking home top prizes in the Documentary and Audience Award categories. Director Peter Pardini was awarded the festival’s Rising Star Award in direction and was on hand to accept all three awards. Earlier that month the documentary was the runner-up for Audience Award at the Sarasota Film Festival. \nChicago’s newest record of new studio tracks\, “NOW” CHICAGO XXXVI\, was released on Frontiers Records. It includes eleven brand new songs\, recorded on the road. Chicago has built a new recording system that is flexible\, portable\, powerful and musical. This new “recording rig” travels with the band. They have even created an online collaboration portal that allows even more performances to be worked on around the clock from remote locations. The CD package is a six-panel digipack with a beautiful 16-page full color lyric booklet. \nChicago’s lifetime achievements include two Grammy Awards\, two American Music Awards\, Founding Artists of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts\, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame\, a Chicago street dedicated in their honor\, and keys to and proclamations from an impressive list of US cities. Record sales top the 100\,000\,000 mark\, and include 21 Top 10 singles\, 5 consecutive Number One albums\, 11 Number One singles and 5 Gold singles. An incredible 25 of their 36 albums have been certified platinum\, and the band has a total of 47 gold and platinum awards. \nChicago have toured every year since the beginning – they’ve never missed a year. The original four band members are Robert Lamm on keyboards and vocals\, Lee Loughnane on trumpet and vocals\, James Pankow on trombone and Walt Parazaider on woodwinds. The band line-up also includes Wally Reyes\, Jr. on drums\, Keith Howland on guitar and vocals\, Lou Pardini on keyboards and vocals\, Ray Herrmann on sax and flute\, Neil Donell on vocals\, Brett Simons on bass and Ramon “Ray” Yslas on percussion. \nFor five years\, Chicago raised over a quarter of a million dollars to fight breast cancer for the American Cancer Society by having a winning bidder come on stage and sing “If You Leave Me Now” in concert. Chicago generously support other charitable causes\, donating a portion of ticket sales to Kelly Cares\, established by Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly and his wife Paqui\, to support local\, national and global organizations that strive to improve their communities in the areas of health and education. Portions of ticket sales also benefit the Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation\, which seeks a cure for a fatal children’s disease\, Niemann-Pick Type C. Chicago manager Peter Schivarelli\, who played football for Coach Parseghian\, is on Notre Dame’s Board Of Directors for their Athletic Commission. Chicago has also associated with Hannah & Friends\, an organization that serves children and adults with special needs. Formed by young virtuoso Andrew Greene at the University of Maryland in 2010\, the Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra recreates the syncopated stylings of a bygone era – Ragtime\, Theater\, and Dance music\, along with underscoring classic silent movies using an immense archive of over 12\,000 original orchestral scores. \nThe PRSO has repeatedly appeared at leading venues including The Kennedy Center\, The Library of Congress\, The American Film Institute\, historic theaters\, state-of-the-art performing arts centers\, colleges\, universities\, and concert associations across the United States. The PRSO’s work has been featured in documentaries\, online video\, and is frequently heard on radio and podcast programs\, including Hot Jazz Saturday Night (WAMU 88.5\, Washington\, DC)\, Ragtime America (KGNU 88.5\, Boulder\, CO)\, and Rapidly Rotating Records (KISL 88.7\, Catalina Island\, CA). \nPRSO’s concert programs highlight the music of the late 1800s and early 1900s\, with selections by composers such as Irving Berlin\, George Gershwin\, W.C. Marches\, two steps\, waltzes\, one steps\, theatre selections\, classical parodies\, popular songs\, and of course\, rags\, are just some of the many selections you’ll hear in their concerts. \nIn addition to their concert programs\, Mr. Greene and the PRSO underscore classic silent movies featuring the biggest names of the day: Charlie Chaplin\, Buster Keaton\, Harold Lloyd\, Laurel & Hardy\, Douglas Fairbanks\, and others. Mr. Greene also has the distinction of rebuilding the original compiled scores for Buster Keaton’s THE GENERAL (1927)\, COLLEGE (1927)\, and Charlie Chaplin’s SHOULDER ARMS (1918)\, and others from the PRSO’s collection of over 500 original film scores. \nThe PRSO records for Rivermont Records\, whose three albums\, Elite Syncopations\, Step With Pep and That Teasin’ Rag have been called “first class”\, “wonderful\, toe tapping fun”\, and “the most satisfying ragtime orchestra collections available.” \n\n\nPRSO’s Founder and Conductor\, Andrew Greene\n\nConductor Andrew Greene is the leading young authority on orchestral ragtime and silent film accompaniment in the United States. Mr. Greene founded the PRSO while a freshman at the University of Maryland\, hoping to draw attention to this neglected but historically important music. \nHe is the curator of the Johnny Maddox\, Arthur C. Ziegler\, E.J. McBride\, Katherine Lingham\, Louis H. Burns\, Palm Leaf Ragtime Orchestra\, and Silver Cornet Ragtime Orchestra collections\, along with his own personal collection of of orchestrated ragtime\, silent movie music\, theater and dance selections\, piano solos\, and records. The collection totals over 12\,000 selections of music from 1862 to 1930. \n\n\n\n\nMr. Greene has appeared at leading venues including The Kennedy Center\, The Smithsonian Institution\, The Library of Congress\,  and The American Film Institute\, among others. His lecturing and performance activities have taken him across the United States\, including engagements with the South Dakota Symphony Chamber Orchestra\, The Fremont Symphony Orchestra\, the Scott Joplin International Ragtime Festival\, The West Coast Ragtime Festival\, the Central Pennsylvania Ragtime Festival\, and many others.

Check out the style advice from ClutchMOV + Hot Tomato and Teri Ann’s! \nOur Featured Drinks\nThe Mary Pickford\n \nWe can’t have a 100th Anniversary party without the first Hollywood star to appear on our screen in 1919\, Mary Pickford. One of the most popular actresses of the 1910s and 1920s\, the Prohibition Era cocktail named in her honor is made with white rum\, fresh pineapple juice\, grenadine\, and Maraschino liqueur\, often served with a Maraschino cherry or pineapple slice. It is said to have been created for her in the 1920s by the bartender at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba on a trip she took to Havana with her husband Douglas Fairbanks and his best friend\, Charlie Chaplin. \nThe Gin Rickey\n \nMade with lime juice\, seltzer water\, gin\, and a touch of sweetness\, the Gin Rickey is a Prohibition Era classic\, straight from the pages of The Great Gatsby (chapter seven\, for those of you taking notes). But it’s origins go several decades back in Washington\, D.C.\, at a popular watering hole up the street from the National Theatre. Missouri politician and lobbyist “Colonel Joe” Rickey was a regular at Shoomaker’s bar and first conceived his signature drink in the typically hot 1883 summer campaign season. The bartender\, George Williamson\, prepared it to the colonel’s instructions\, and the first one was actually a rye Rickey made with Shoomaker’s own house-label whiskey. Though Colonel Joe remained faithful to his original concoction\, in short order gin would eclipse the rye (and inspire a whole family of drinks called Rickeys). \nThe Bee’s Knees\n \nThe phrase “bee’s knees\,” which initially was used to indicate something small or insignificant\, predates the cocktail by more than a century. Usage later evolved\, as it does\, and the idiom was applied to people or things that were considered the best or “height of excellence.” A gin-based cocktail\, honey and lemon were added to soften the edge of the questionable bathtub gins being turned out at speakeasies\, or obtained via other clandestine backchannels. Evidence suggests Frank Meier\, a bartender at the Ritz Paris\, was the cocktail’s original creator.
