Lawn chairs are welcome! \nBased out of Southeast\, Ohio\, Jake Dunn & The Blackbirds bring a powerful brand of original Americana/rock music to the Mid-Ohio Valley. Not quite country and not wholly rock and roll\, the band takes pride in drawing upon a wide swath of influences to create a musical landscape that consumes the listener and pulls them into a mindful and melodic journey. Featuring emotionally driven lyrics\, angelic harmonies\, and soaring guitars\, each of their songs presents an ambitious effort from the group that sends them further into the realm of Cosmic American Music. \n

SUMMARY:August First Friday Concert: The Price Sisters
DESCRIPTION:This free\, DORA-friendly event will be held on Putnam Street in front of Peoples Bank Theatre. No tickets are necessary to attend. Lawn chairs are welcome! \n  \nThe Price Sisters band\, featuring twin sisters Leanna and Lauren Price\, showcases a traditional yet fresh and creative sound within the bluegrass and old-timey roots music world. Each member of the five-piece band is an accomplished musician in their own right\, while collectively the group is known for stellar harmonies and exciting instrumental performances. Since releasing their first full-length album on Rebel Records in 2018\, The Price Sisters have garnered four International Bluegrass Music Association Award nominations\, have performed on the Grand Ole Opry\, toured across the US and in Canada\, Germany\, Austria\, and Switzerland\, and have taken the stage at festivals such as ROMP and DelFest. Presently\, the group is especially eager to perform music from their brand new project “Between the Lines\,” a debut on McCoury Music produced by Ronnie McCoury\, released February 16th\, 2024.

SUMMARY:July First Friday Concert:  Lex Bauman
DESCRIPTION:The First Friday concerts will take place outside The Stage Door on Putnam Street\, creating the perfect ambiance for a Friday night out. Audiences are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and enjoy the music in a relaxed\, open-air setting. Each show begins at 6:00 p.m.\, so be sure to arrive early to secure your spot and soak in the festive atmosphere!  \nLex Bauman is a mix of classic cool and fun modern power pop. Lex started playing guitar at a very young age.  He immediately found his purpose in the sound and feel of the instrument.  \nHe began playing live shows with professional bands around the age of 10. In 2020\, when the world stopped\,  Lex doubled down on his commitment to music. He learned to write and record as well as putting in countless hours on guitar practice and\, seeing where his life was headed\, began working on his vocal skills.  As the world opened back up\, Lex began headlining his own shows and opening for national acts. Since\, he has entertained countless people and always puts on an amazing live show.  In 2023\, Lex began working on his biggest project to date. He enlisted Tuk Smith to co–write and produce his EP\, While We’re Still Young.  The EP is an explosion of power pop. With amazing melodies\, huge harmonies\, catchy lyrics and driving guitar hooks\, it will put you in mind of Avril Lavigne\, Cheap Trick or a rock n roll Taylor Swift.  GUNS N ROS  While We’re Still Young (the single) was released in January of 2024 and the EP of the same name will be released in the spring of 2024.

Each show begins at 6:00 p.m.\, so be sure to arrive early to secure your spot and soak in the festive atmosphere! \n  \nAngela Perley makes music for roadtrips across the American heartland. Rooted in cosmic alt-country\, roadhouse rock & roll\, witchy-woman psychedelia\, and amplified Americana\, it’s a vintage sound for the modern world\, glued together by a singer/songwriter who’s played everything from dive bars to arenas. \nWith Turn Me Loose\, she leans into the rootsy textures that have always underscored her music. Laced with pedal steel\, Telecaster twang\, and Gibson grit\, the album embraces the grey areas between genre and generation\, with Perley breathing new life into her 1960s and ’70s influences. Recorded in her native Ohio\, Turn Me Loose finds Perley building a dreamy world of her own\, writing sharply-detailed songs filled with small towns\, big cities\, and foggy nights pierced by her car’s high-beams. \n“Plug me in\, turn me loose\,” she sings during the album’s opening track\, which unfolds like a mission statement from a road warrior who’s hungry to hit the highway again. Turn Me Loose hits cruising speed with “Star Dreamer\,” whose chorus of sha la la la‘s nods to the kaleidoscopic swoon of the British Invasion\, then reaches a gallop with “Ripple\,” a country-western track that trades Perley‘s midwestern roots for southern stomp. “Here For You” is a personal pep talk — a love song to oneself\, peppered with greasy\, Rolling Stones-worthy guitar — while “Praying For Daylight” and “Wreck Me” conjure up images of Texas dancehalls at closing time\, when the dust from the floorboards turn slow circles in the stage lights. Together\, these songs turn Turn Me Loose into a soundtrack for the road less traveled\, with Perley behind the wheel. \nBefore she shared shows with heavyweights like Willie Nelson and Lucinda Williams\, Perley launched her career as the frontwoman of Angela Perley and the Howlin’ Moons. The group debuted with 2014’s Hey Kid — an underground hit not only in America\, but also overseas\, where the album peaked at Number 6 on the EuroAmericana chart — and returned with 2016’s Homemade Vision\, whose lead single “Electric Flame” became an FM radio hit. Perley continued the momentum with 4:30\, her debut as a solo artist.
