SUMMARY:Crystal Gayle
DESCRIPTION:With Senora May opening\nCrystal Gayle comes to the historic Peoples Bank Theatre! Inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in January 2017 by her sister Loretta Lynn\, Crystal Gayle is the first female artist in country to reach platinum status with more than 20 number one hits. Renowned for her classic recording of her timeless signature song Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue\, Crystal Gayle also scored with her multi-format hits You’ve Been Talking In Your Sleep\, When I Dream\, Half the Way\, and her duet with Eddie Rabbitt\, Just You and I. \nhttps://youtu.be/Scs1XCYvTWs \nThe Academy of Country Music recognized Crystal Gayle with a 2016 Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award for her lifetime achievements in country music. And in 2009 Crystal Gayle was honored to receive her own star on the fabled Hollywood Walk of Fame. \nThese honors are fitting tributes to Crystal Gayle who has been a favorite of audiences of country and popular music since attaining national prominence with her first chart records in the mid-seventies. Crystal Gayle has released over twenty number one hits and has been awarded numerous times by the Grammys\, the Country Music Association\, the Academy of Country Music\, the American Music Awards\, and the American Music Operators Association. \nCrystal Gayle encapsulates everything the dazzling qualities of her name imply — although that name came to her in quite an unusual fashion. “Crystal” was suggested by Brenda Gail Webb’s older sister\, Loretta Lynn. Because there was already a ‘Brenda Lee’ on Decca records\, Loretta suggested the name ‘Crystal’ for her younger sibling when she began recording on the label. \nOnce re-named\, Crystal Gayle’s musical boundaries have since been seemingly limitless\, as proven by her recent project “All My Tomorrows\,” a mood influenced collection of American standards. Songs such as Cry Me a River\, Sentimental Journey\, It Had to Be You\, and Smile somehow reach the heights their songwriters’ must have dreamed of when piped through the beautiful chords of Crystal Gayle. “These are songs any artist loves to sing\,” said Crystal in a recent interview. “They’ve endured to become timeless classics.” \nStrange to think of anyone as vibrant as the artist in question as a “timeless classic\,” but that indeed describes the course Crystal Gayle’s career has taken. \nhttps://youtu.be/kEMU6cBxtCc \nHer earliest roots in country music led to what was at that time in the industry an unusual turn of events: Crystal Gayle’s success wave engineered a seamless crossover to mainstream\, following the footsteps of Eddy Arnold\, Patsy Cline\, Ray Price and so many more of her musical heroes and continuing the path for other great artists such as Shania Twain and Faith Hill. \nIn the late 1970’s\, Crystal Gayle was the star of her own one hour prime time specials on CBS television — specials that earned the praise of audience viewers and critics alike. The years that followed saw Crystal Gayle host a concert special on HBO\, a Christmas special from Sweden\, and a variety special taped in Finland. Chic\, hip\, and cool with a romantic mane of hair\, Crystal Gayle’s television specials and myriad guest appearances on specials and talk shows solidified her stardom. \nDrop dead beautiful and dressed in designer threads\, Crystal Gayle took country music to town on her arm in the 1970s and helped introduce it to mainstream audiences. The result was a career of music and performances that appealed to Crystal Gayle’s country audiences and beyond. \nBut in the beginning… \nCountry\, folk\, pop\, rock ‘n roll\, Broadway show tunes\, gospel… all found an equal place in her heart when growing up as the youngest of eight children. As her beloved sister Loretta so aptly put it\, Crystal\, too\, was a “coal miners daughter” before she was a platinum selling singer and a world class entertainer. \nWhile still in school\, she signed her first recording contact. Her debut single\, I’ve Cried the Blue Right out of My Eyes\, was written by Loretta and reached the Top 25 on the national country music charts. Three more singles were released over the next three years\, all making an impact with radio and listeners. \nWhat next emerged was uniquely Crystal. Her warm\, resonant vocal styling\, unique as a fingerprint\, captured the imagination and attention of audiences not usually tuned in and turned on by country music. There was an undeniable sophistication and a beguiling charm about her look and her voice that was a memorable imprint on every audience\, and on every listener. \nHer first album project began a roll out of smash singles to come. Wrong Road Again\, (her first of many hit singles with producer Allen Reynolds) became her debut Top 10 record. I’ll Get Over You\, became her first #1 single. By her fourth album\, “We Must Believe in Magic\,” Crystal Gayle became the first female artist in country music history to achieve platinum album sales. Driving the engine of the album was the song that was to become her enduring career signature song: Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue. \n“Brown Eyes” opened the world’s eyes to Crystal Gayle. She became a familiar name in households\, grand and small\, from Louisville to Leningrad. The glamour and the mystique of the Crystal Gayle phenomena made her an instantly “in demand” artist. From symphony halls to Carnegie Hall\, from the best kept stages in Las Vegas to the prestige of the London Palladium\, one word — “Crystal” — crossed musical genres and oceans. \nHer CBS prime time specials were followed by an equally groundbreaking HBO concert special viewed by millions. She appeared in Bob Hope’s historic NBC-TV Special “On the Road to China.” She was seen hosting the American Music Awards\, the Academy Of Country Music Awards\, and her special “A Crystal Christmas from Sweden.” She swept through tours — and repeat tours — of the U.S. Japan\, England\, Canada\, Ireland\, Germany\, Spain\, Sweden\, Finland\, Holland\, Australia and the Far East. \nIn the wake\, her hit list of platinum and gold was to be matched only by her awards and accolades. CMA’s “Female Vocalist of the Year\,” for two consecutive years\, she became a Grammy Award Winner for “Best Female Vocal Performance\,” thanks to her beloved “Brown Eyes” – a song that she today admits she has never grown tired of singing. Crystal Gayle swept the Academy Of Country Music Awards for three of their “Top Female Vocalist” statuettes. As her music and her career path widened to mainstream audiences\, so did her accolades. She is the recipient of three “American Music Awards\,” voted by the nation as America’s “Favorite Female Artist.” \nBreaking through the unusual genre boundaries faced by most artists has allowed Crystal Gayle a beautiful advantage: doing projects close to her heart just for the sheer love of the music in question. One of the most meaningful was “Crystal Gayle Sings the Heart & Soul of Hoagy Carmichael\,” a stunning\, critically acclaimed collection of 15 of the great composer’s favorite classics. \n“One of my personal career highlights was getting to meet and sing with Hoagy on a television special\,” Crystal recalls. Crystal not only breathed new life into the Carmichael classics\, but produced the “must have” album of her career that included such immortals as Stardust and Two Sleepy People. \nCrystal also found great personal satisfaction in recording two inspirational albums. The Grammy nominated “Someday” was comprised of mostly original spiritual songs and “He Is Beautiful” contains mostly traditional hymns. These efforts led to Crystal Gayle’s 2009 induction into the Christian Music Hall of Fame. \nWith the advent of the new millennium\, Crystal Gayle’s “In My Arms\,” an enduring collection of children’s lullabies\, was an outgrowth of her love for the littlest of listeners and of her visit to Sesame Street to sing with Big Bird to a new generation of fans. Crystal also contributed her performance of Did You Know to “Songs from the Neighborhood\,” the tribute album to Mr. Rogers that won a Grammy in 2006. \nAlways gracious and generous with her time and talents\, Crystal has been awarded the coveted “Celebration of Light Award” in recognition of her myriad humanitarian efforts\, among them the Make-A-Wish Foundation for whom she has recorded the official theme song\, and the Arthritis Foundation for whom she has served as telethon co-host for three years. \nAt home in Nashville when not touring\, Crystal continues to make the world a little more beautiful just by her presence. Her two children\, Catherine and Christos\, her toddler grandson\, Elijah\, and her husband\, Bill Gatzimos\, are her admitted heartbeat. \nSenora May\n \nSenora May’s music and voice undulates like the foothills\, hollers\, and benches of the Appalachian Mountains she calls home. A frugal lifestyle in rural Kentucky has contributed to her experience in and commitment to self-reliance\, resiliency\, hard work and independence. Senora is known for merging the realism of these intrinsic values with a soft\, romantic approach at storytelling. Her songs are an optimistic yet gritty portfolio of her habitat\, exhibiting the triumphs and tolls of hard loving in a hard culture. As listeners join the rapidly growing fanbase of Senora May\, they are transported to a homestead in a simpler time of the mountain culture\, while clinging to gender equality and other invaluable lessons taught by present day constraints of society.  Her songs\, like the artist herself\, are adamant on maintaining the delicate balance of these forces for an honest translation of her experiences as a woman born unto the Appalachian Culture\, a woman in love with nature’s cyclical offerings of life and death and the gettin’ by in between.

SUMMARY:Burge / Matheny / Remnant - SOLD OUT
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our first Listening Room Series concert at The Stage Door\, a special evening in an intimate setting with three veteran songwriters. \nLimited to just 50 tickets. \n“I’m convinced – Ingenious Todd Burge successfully blends more wit and wisdom per song than anyone else I’ve enjoyed in years”\n— Ron Goad – Vice Pres – Songwriter’s Association of Washington DC \n“William Matheny is quickly becoming one of independent country music’s most exciting emerging artists.”\n— American Songwriter \n“Adam Remnant’s voice is one of the great instruments in folk rock.”\n— Stereogum \nhttps://open.spotify.com/user/123920371/playlist/0SI9mVIsEXxKlb2Me18Sdk?si=R2Ff9Ud4TWGPxViDQlmZPA \nTodd Burge\nIf it’s been discovered by man\, West Virginian Todd Burge has written about it. Born to ponder and observe life\, each of his songs tells a story. Whether drawn from personal experience or a tale of poetically woven fiction\, you’ll live every second of it through his songs. \nNow\, Todd Burge is releasing two original albums – one from 2018 and one for 1986 – as double CD package. Todd Burge (1986 The First Album) is his never-released debut record\, and the second\, Your Reflection Will Kill You\, is his latest work recorded by Don Dixon (James McMurtry\, REM). They are a pair of now-and-then sonic bookends\, both opposite and yet intertwined as a collection of stories that brought Burge to where he is today. \nDescribing it as a victim of record industry red tape\, Burge says that “the 1986 album was probably the second or third time I was ever in a studio. It’s a rock and roll record with bits of punk. I’m not surprised at how it sounds when I listen to it now\, because I know I was filled with angst back then. Maybe that’s what I needed it to be when I was recording that music. Now I listen to it as if someone else created it\, and it really helped me decide which songs would go on the new record.” \nA few years and a few experiences later\, Your Reflection Will Kill You\, shows that\, like good whiskey\, Burge is refined with time. On the making of the new record\, Burge tells us\, “I wanted to be as comfortable as possible\, so I asked Don Dixon (James McMurtry\, REM) to come to my home. Don is a master at capturing a live recording session and making everyone feel comfortable. He has a great set of ears and great taste. You can trust his opinion\, and that is important as\, after a while\, when I record\, I don’t trust my own. \n“The only rule I brought to the table was that we would not use anything but our acoustic instruments. Steel string guitar for me\, nylon for Ryan (Kennedy)\, upright acoustic for John (Inghram). See\, I have this emotional attachment to that sound that dates back to when I was five or six years old\, back when I was still taking naps\, I think. I would ask my mother to play Roger Miller’s greatest hits. You know Roger Miller’s “King of the Road”? Miller played a nylon string guitar. It’s a sound you don’t hear often in country music\, but Roger Miller was not typical. I’ve been a huge fan of Willie Nelson’s since I was in grade school as well. Another nylon string guitar player. That guitar sound is just embedded in me. It moves me more than most sounds do.” \n“With wit and pathos in equal measure\, Todd Burge takes on subjects in his songs that never occur to most folks. Subjects too quirky\, too controversial\, too obtuse for most writers to get a handle on. His compelling vocal style and unique perspective keep me interested long after the last note rings out.”-Engineer- Don Dixon \nWilliam Matheny\nIt’s fitting that William Matheny has chosen to honor the 15th anniversary of Centro-matic’s tour de force album Love You Just the Same on his new 7-inch: The 2003 full-length from Will Johnson’s four-piece was one of the most acclaimed releases from Misra Records’ first five years\, and Matheny has emerged as one of the label’s standard-bearers as it enters closes in on the end of its second decade. \nThe tribute takes the form of a cover of “Flashes and Cables\,” the now-classic from Love You\, on the A-side of Matheny’s single. Matheny’s spin is\, like so many memorable covers\, faithful to the original up to a point—he chose to keep the dramatic shifts in dynamics and picked up the pace only a pinch—but diverges just enough to make it distinct. Gone is Johnson’s martial drumbeat in favor of Matheny’s Spector-informed\, lazy swung backbeat. In lieu of Centro-matic’s slow disintegration and off-kilter keys\, we get a triumphant guitar solo worthy of J. Mascis as the song winds down. Quality songwriting isn’t threatened by interpretation\, and in this new interpretation you’re bound to glimpse aspects of Johnson’s song you overlooked before. \nOf course\, it doesn’t hurt when the interpreter is a top-notch songwriter as well: Matheny\, on the heels of 2017’s Strange Constellations LP and last spring’s EP “Moon Over Kenova\,” is a breakout voice in country-rock\, and keeps on proving it. The B-side of the new single\, “Christian Name\,” manages to turn variations on a theme into three or four distinct hooks\, any one of which would have been enough for most songsmiths to hang their hat on. Tom Petty is in there somewhere beneath the world-weary country-rock exterior\, but so is the dark-tinged bluesy folk of Lucinda Williams. \nFor some\, Matheny’s tribute to Centro-matic will represent a nostalgic trip; for others it may be an entrée into the music of both Misra mainstays. The thing is\, either way\, it’s a pair of tracks worthy of play on repeat: Two gems with equal parts twang and tremolo\, clever riffs and thoughtful words\, delivered with deceptive ease. \nAdam Remnant\nAdam Remnant came up over the last decade fronting the folk-rock band Southeast Engine. As the principal singer and songwriter of the band\, Remnant and his bandmates garnered critical acclaim from publications such as Paste Magazine\, Pitchfork\, NPR\, American Songwriter\, Magnet\, Stereogum\, PopMatters\, AV Club\, and many more. They established a substantial following over the years\, releasing five albums and touring across the United States and Canada. \nAs Southeast Engine wound down\, Remnant began plotting his way forward as a solo artist. He assembled a little studio in his basement and earnestly began writing & recording the songs that comprise the 2016 EP\, When I Was a Boy\, as well as the new full-length\, Sourwood. Remnant’s signature baritone voice and literary songwriting act as the focal point in the productions spanning between folk\, rock\, and indie sounds mined from a Midwest basement. \nSourwood is a record long in the making. In the intervening years since Southeast Engine\, Remnant and his wife\, Amanda\, became parents to two curly blond-haired girls\, which they raise in the fertile creative town of Athens\, Ohio. Located in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains\, it’s here that Remnant pursues his musical visions while tending to daily matters. The songs of Sourwood were birthed in that intersection of youth and adulthood where dreams and realities confront one another.  The songs detail the desire to find potential opportunities beyond the horizon while feeling the gravity of home. The album drifts back and forth between those push & pull forces of home and travel as one might drift between a waking and dream state. Somewhere between those two states is a place called Sourwood. \nThe album is largely recorded and performed by Adam Remnant with contributions from Remnant’s working band\, consisting of brother\, Jesse Remnant\, on bass and harmony vocals; Ryan Stolte-Sawa on violin and harmony vocals\, and Jon Helm on drums. Adam and the band are touring in support of the release.

SUMMARY:Blue Oyster Cult - SOLD OUT
DESCRIPTION:Just announced: Sadie Johnson to open\nFor over four decades\, Blue Oyster Cult has been thrilling fans of intelligent hard rock worldwide with powerful albums loaded with classic songs. Indeed\, the Long Island\, NY-‐based band is revered within the hard rock and heavy metal scene for its pioneering work. Blue Öyster Cult occupies a unique place in rock history because it’s one of very few hard rock/heavy metal bands to earn both genuine mainstream critical acclaim as well as commercial success. \nThe band is often cited as a major influence by other acts such as Metallica\, and BÖC was listed in VH1’s countdown of the greatest hard rock bands of all time. \nhttps://youtu.be/WbzcSlcWd18 \nUpon the release of Blue Oyster Cult’s self-‐titled debut album in 1972\, the band was praised for its catchy-‐yet-‐heavy music and lyrics that could be provocative\, terrifying\, funny or ambiguous\, often all in the same song. BÖC’s canon includes three stone-‐cold classic songs that will waft through the cosmos long after the sun has burned out: The truly haunting “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” from 1976’s Agents of Fortune\, the pummeling “Godzilla” from 1977’s Spectres and the hypnotically melodic “Burnin’ for You” from 1981’s Fire of Unknown Origin. Other notable BÖC songs include “Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll\,” “Then Came the Last Days of May\,” “I Love the Night\,” “In Thee\,””Veteran of the Psychic Wars\,” “Dominance and Submission\,” “Astronomy\,” “Black Blade” and “Shooting Shark.” \n \nThe intense creative vision of BÖC’s original core duo of vocalist/lead guitarist Donald “Buck Dharma” Roeser\, and vocalist/rhythm guitarist Eric Bloom are complemented by Richie Castellano on guitar and keyboards\, and the longtime rhythm section of bass guitarist Danny Miranda\, and drummer Jules Radino. \n“We realized we’re a ‘classic rock’ band. That’s what we are\, that’s what we do best\, that’s what we know.” \nThe band members are proud of Blue Oyster Cult’s classic sound\, and pleased the band is creating vibrant work for disenfranchised music lovers who don’t like the homogenized\, prefabricated pop or sound-‐alike\, formulaic rap-‐metal\, which monopolizes the radio airwaves and best-‐seller charts. \nBlue Oyster Cult has always maintained a relentless touring schedule that brings new songs and classics to original fans and\, as Bloom puts it\, “teenagers with green hair.” \nAbout Sadie Johnson\nSadie Johnson is an established blues guitarist/vocalist and a senior at Marietta College. Sadie has been performing since she was 13 years-old\, touring the US with The Sad Sam Blues Jam\, performing in Europe with Ruf Records Blues Caravan: Girls With Guitars\, and sharing the stage with the likes of Samantha Fish\, Delbert McClinton\, and Blues Traveler. While performing will always be her passion\, Sadie’s heart is in music therapy. Sadie has helped pioneer a music therapy program at Marietta College and continues involvement with Blue Star Connection – a non-profit organization that gives music instruments to kids with life-threatening illnesses.

SUMMARY:Hot Tuna
DESCRIPTION:An Acoustic Evening with Hot Tuna\n“Hot Tuna is a Psychedelic-Blues Institution” – Rolling Stone Magazine \nHot Tuna\, Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady\, perform with a well-honed and solid power – always in the groove from years of experience and mutual inspiration. Started as a side project during their Jefferson Airplane days\, the constant\, the very definition of Hot Tuna\, has always been Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady. The two boyhood pals have never wavered in one of the most enduring friendships in Rock history. \n**GET JORMA’S MEMOIR: Add Jorma’s memoir\, Been So Long: My Life and Music to your order of any top tier or pit ticket for $29.99. Includes meet & greet and book signing with Jorma. Limited to first 50 tickets. Select “Ticket + Book” when ordering.** \nFrom their days playing together as teenagers in the Washington\, DC area\, through years of inventive psychedelic rock in San Francisco (1996 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees)\, to their current acoustic and electric blues sound\, no one has more consistently led American music for the last 50 years than Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady\, the founders and continuing core members of Hot Tuna. At the 2016 Grammys\, Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady were honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards. \n“Jorma Kaukonen is a force in American music\, equally adept at fingerpicked acoustic folk and blues as he is at wailing on an electric.”  – Acoustic Guitar \nGuitarist and vocalist\, Jorma Kaukonen is a highly respected interpreter of roots music\, blues\, Americana\, and popular rock-and-roll.  Jorma’s repertoire goes far beyond psychedelic rock; he is a music legend and one of the finest singer-songwriters in music. Jorma tours the world bringing his unique styling to old blues while writing new songs of weight and dimension. \n“Jack Casady is virtually unparalleled–and yet he has one of the most truly unique electric-bass voices in rock…he can melt into a supportive role but when opportunity knocks\, he bursts forth with creative lines–both simple and ornate–that are unlike any you’ve heard”  – Premier Guitar \nOne of the most unique innovators in the sixty-year history of the bass guitar\, Jack Casady made his sweeping melodic mark helping to create the “San Francisco Sound” with legendary rock group Jefferson Airplane. Jack went on to track with Jimi Hendrix\, Crosby\, Stills\, Nash & Young\, Warren Zevon\, members of the Grateful Dead\, John Lee Hooker\, and Gov’t Mule. Casady\, regarded as one of rock’s greatest bassists\, is certainly one of its most original. \n“For a band that traces its roots back to 1969\, Hot Tuna can still bring the heat. Not only did they tackle songs from their wide catalog and long career\, but they also showed the audience that they still have fun doing it. Jack Casady stomped around the stage totting a bass that is about the same size as him while Jorma Kaukonen lit a fuse and transformed his guitar into a firework.” – Live For Live Music

SUMMARY:Collin Raye
DESCRIPTION:With opening artists The Pottmeyers \nWith 24 top ten records\, 16 #1 hits\, ACM Video of the Year award and having been a 10 time male vocalist of the year nominee (5 CMA and 5 ACM) this truly electrifying performer remains one of the great voices of country music. Collin Raye released a legacy CD in May 2018 entitled 25 Years\, 25 Hits. \n \nCollin Raye is nothing if not passionate. His soulful delivery has set country standards in such searing ballads as “Love\, Me\,” “In This Life\,” “Not That Different” and “If I were you”. Always an energizing showman\, he has also blazed through such vivid rockers as “My Kind of Girl\,” “That’s My Story\,” “I Can Still Feel You” and “I Want You Bad.” \n \nCollin shot to fame with “Love\, Me” in 1991. Listeners were so moved by this golden and pure voice that this song set the cornerstone for a career built on meaningful and emotional songs that have often been used for weddings\, anniversaries\, memorial services and funerals. When “Little Rock”\, an anthem for those struggling with addition recovery\, hit the chart in 1994\, its video led to over 100\,000 phone calls to Alcoholics Anonymous from folks seeking help in their addictions. “Not That Different” was a song that pleaded for tolerance. “In This Life” became a wedding favorite\, and “I Think About You” won awards for its song and video which exposed the exploitation of women and children. \nCollin Raye has consistently used his stardom to advance social causes. Among the organizations he has supported are Boys Town\, First Steps\, Al-Anon\, Special Olympics\, Country Cares About AIDS\, Catholic Relief Services\, Parade of Pennies\, Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital\, The Tennessee Task Force Against Domestic Violence\, The Emily Harrison Foundation\, Childhelp USA\, Silent Witness National Initiative\, Easter Seals\, The Life and Hope Network\, and Make a Difference Day. It came as no surprise when in 2001 at the Country Radio Seminar\, Clint Black presented Collin Raye with the organization’s Humanitarian of the Year award in recognition of Collin’s issue-oriented music and his tireless charity work. \nThe man who has topped the charts with such great songs as “On the Verge\,” “One Boy\, One Girl\,” “What the Heart Wants\,” “Every Second”\, “That Was a River”\, “Anyone Else”\, and “If I were you” continues to touch hearts across the globe in both traditional and new ways . Collin Raye’s new outreach is very personal. In 2010\, after the loss of his precious 10 year old grandchild\, Haley\, Collin and his daughter Britanny (Haley’s mother) established The Haley Bell Blessed Chair Foundation to honor her memory. The Foundation supports and assists families of the cognitively and physically disabled with a primary emphasis on supplying wheelchairs and other necessary medical equipment to elevate the quality of life for the disabled family member in need. Collin wrote a very special song for Haley called\, “She’s with me”\, which carries a powerful message for families of special needs children. Additionally\, in 2011 Collin released his first inspirational album\, His Love Remains\, which quickly shot to #1 on Amazon for inspirational and religious music. Collin continues to perform his traditional country music across America and abroad and has added Christian and Catholic concerts to his tour schedule as well. His autobiography\, That’s My Story: The Undefeated Life of Collin Raye\, was released in 2014. He currently resides in Nashville\, TN with his daughter\, Britanny and granddaughter\, Mattie. \nProceeds of this concert will benefit Washington County foster children and foster parents.\n“Our vision for this benefit concert is to assist foster parents by providing funding to be used for normal childhood activities not covered by county funds\, in hopes of enhancing these children’s lives.” \n“Foster/adoptive caregivers are concerned individuals who are dedicated to providing the needs of Washington County’s children whose lives have been disrupted due to abuse and neglect. They offer food\, housing\, guidance\, acceptance\, understanding\, and support for children who are unable to stay with their families. Without these committed individuals\, abused and neglected children would not have a safe place to call home.” \nThe Pottmeyers\n \nSteve and Beverly Pottmeyer are entertainers bringing classic country and Americana style music to their venues. Beverly plays electric bass to accompany Steve’s 12-string acoustic guitar. They provide a blend of harmony to each other’s songs with a laid back style that sometimes includes a bit of humor; sometimes a bit of inspiration; and sometimes a bit of nostalgia.

SUMMARY:Hot Rize featuring Red Knuckles and The Trailblazers
DESCRIPTION:Hot Rize has been astounding the bluegrass world with their fresh\, contemporary approach to traditional music ever since their formation in 1978. The band’s unique and progressive style of bluegrass\, powerful original songs\, tight-as-a-drum ensemble playing\, and dynamic stage show quickly made them stars on the major festival circuit and far beyond. In 1990\, Hot Rize won the first-ever International Bluegrass Association’s Entertainer of the Year Award and in 1991 they picked up a Grammy nomination for Best Bluegrass album and won IBMA Song of the Year. Since the 90s\, this all-star band has kept their legend alive by performing at only the most prestigious festivals (like Hardly Strictly Bluegrass\, Telluride\, Bonnaroo\, and GreyFox) and a few select venues. This crazy thing happens when you hire Hot Rize – everywhere they go\, the ever-popular Red Knuckles & The Trailblazers shows up as well. Invited or not\, at some point during the night\, they are going to take the stage and wow the crowd with their classic honky tonk and western music. The combination of these two bands (who bear some resemblance) makes this one world-class evening of entertainment\, a rare event not to be missed.

SUMMARY:Kathy Mattea
DESCRIPTION:With special guests Laurie and Eddie from Hey Mavis opening. \nKathy Mattea has enjoyed the kind of success many artists only dream of: two GRAMMY wins\, four CMA Awards\, five gold albums\, and a platinum collection of her greatest hits. Mattea’s dream almost ended\, though\, when she entered her 50s and found her voice changing. As much as she wanted to ignore the warning signs\, there was no getting around the fact that she simply wasn’t hitting the notes she used to. Taking the stage and giving anything less than her best wasn’t an option\, so as far as Mattea was concerned\, there were only two choices: re-learn to sing\, or walk away forever. \n“The hardest thing was facing the question of whether or not I could continue\,” she reflects. “I had to be willing to come to a ‘no\,’ to accept that my singing voice just might not be something I enjoyed anymore. There were days when I believed it was very likely I wouldn’t be able to go on.” \nMattea persevered\, though\, undergoing intensive vocal training and emerging with the most poignant album of her career\, ‘Pretty Bird.’ Recorded over the course of a year with roots music wizard Tim O’Brien at the helm\, ‘Pretty Bird’ draws its strength not only from Mattea’s touching performances\, but also from her uncanny ability to weave seemingly disparate material into a cohesive whole. These are the songs that helped her reclaim her voice\, and though they’re drawn from a wide swath of writers\, genres\, and eras\, she inhabits each as fully as if it were her own. Exquisitely arranged and delivered with the kind of nuance that can only come from a lifetime of heartbreak and triumph\, the album is a welcome reintroduction to one of country and Americana music’s most enduring and beloved figures. \nA West Virginia native\, Mattea moved to Nashville in the late 1970s to pursue her goal of singing professionally. She signed her first record deal in 1983 and achieved modest chart success with a pair of early releases\, but her true commercial breakout arrived with her critically acclaimed third album\, ‘Walk The Way The Wind Blows.’ That record produced her first radio hits\, and its follow-up\, 1987’s ‘Untasted Honey\,’ was the first of five Mattea releases to be certified gold. ‘Untasted Honey’ contained back-to-back #1 country singles\, as did 1989’s ‘Willow In The Wind\,’ which also earned back-to-back CMA Female Vocalist of the Year awards and a GRAMMY for Best Female Vocal Performance. The LA Times called Mattea “a performer of limitless potential\,” while the Washington Post hailed her as “one of Nashville’s finest song interpreters\,” and People described her as “warm\, strong\, smart and generally splendid.” Over the next three decades\, she would record nearly a dozen more albums exploring country\, folk\, Celtic\, and gospel music; earn her second GRAMMY Award; top the Bluegrass \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAlbums chart and garner an additional GRAMMY nomination for ‘Coal\,’ her Marty Stuart-produced exploration of coal mining songs; and collaborate with everyone from Jackson Browne to Townes Van Zandt. \nBy the time she entered her 50s\, Mattea’s status as a legend was secure\, but the one thing she’d always been able to rely on felt like it was in serious danger of slipping away. \n“I kept noticing this shaky quality in my voice\,” she says. “I’d be onstage going for a note in a song I knew like the back of my hand and it wouldn’t come out. The way I knew how to sing just wasn’t working anymore.” \n \nSo began a years-long odyssey Mattea describes as her “dark night of the soul\,” a trying time of personal anguish and professional uncertainty that threatened to silence her permanently. Some nights her voice would be there in all its glory; other nights\, inexplicably\, notes would lie just beyond her grasp. The harder she tried\, the more she struggled\, and Mattea was forced to reckon with the possibility that her career might be over. \n“I kept running from it\, but eventually I realized I had to stop and deal with the issue head on\,” she explains. \nThe classically-trained Mattea dove into an exhaustive regimen with a new\, jazz- centric vocal coach\, developing a fresh approach to singing and forcing herself to break habits she’d relied on for her entire career. Most importantly\, she came to recognize the beauty in how her voice was changing. Age had helped open Mattea’s lower register like never before\, and songs she’d previously shied away from suddenly came to new\, vibrant life. \n“It was astounding to me\,” she reflects. “That’s when I really felt this vocal rebirthing process\, and it gave me great joy because there’s nothing that’s ever felt more right to me in my life than singing and making music.” \nAs her confidence returned\, Mattea and her longtime guitarist/collaborator Bill Cooley decided to take their weekly living room jam sessions on the road\, performing an extensive\, stripped-down duo tour of unexpected material and old favorites. It took courage for Mattea to get back on stage in the midst of her vocal training\, but the work paid off\, and as she learned to let go of the idea of “perfection”\, she stripped the power from the fear that had gripped her for so long and kept her from the stage. All that was left was to return to the studio. \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“I woke up in my bed at 2am one night and realized\, ‘Oh my God. I have to call Tim O’Brien\,’” Mattea remembers. “Tim is like a brother to me. We’ve worked together on each other’s records for years\, and he’s one of the most comfortable\, patient\, safe people to collaborate with that I’ve ever known.” \nWhile ‘Pretty Bird’ certainly reflects that comfort\, it also reflects the adventurous streak that’s long defined Mattea’s choice in song. The album opens with playful take on Oliver Wood’s sultry “Chocolate On My Tongue” before moving seamlessly into a soulful rendition of Bobbie Gentry’s “Ode To Billie Joe.” The Mary Gauthier-penned “Mercy Now” finds Mattea offering up a tender prayer for understanding in these troubled times\, while Joan Osborne’s “St. Teresa” takes on new life in light of the ravages that addiction has wrought on the singer’s home state. The arrangements on the album are earthy and organic\, but its most affecting moments arrive in stripped- down songs like the British traditional “He Moves Through The Fair” and the arresting title track\, a Hazel Dickens tune that boldly closes the record with Mattea’s rich\, a cappella voice. It’s that voice that saved her\, and it’s through singing Mattea hopes she can help others\, too. \n“I think there’s something sacred in this secular act of lifting our voices together\,” she explains. “When we sing together\, it doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from or who you voted for. We’re all having the same experience and expressing ourselves the same way\, and that’s where I want to plant my flag right now.” \nMore than simply rejuvenating her career\, recovering her voice presented Kathy Mattea with a new lease on her humanity. With an album as powerful as ‘Pretty Bird\,’ it’s clear she intends to make the most of it. \n \nLaurie & Eddie from Hey Mavis\n \nLaurie Michelle Caner (vocals\, banjo\, songwriting) is a homeschooling mom\, a songwriter\, and Ms. May in the 2015 Banjo Babes Calendar. She has been hailed as a role model for mothers who strive to honor their own artistic vision while continuing to raise a healthy family. Her banjo playing is of curious origin\, but beautifully serves as a foundation for her lyrics. Laurie’s songwriting tells the story of life—with all of it’s beauty\, heartache\, disappointment and joy—weaving a musical tapestry that speaks the truth of love\, life and the human condition. \nEddie Caner (violin\, viola profunda) spent a dozen years performing as a sideman in national touring bands and orchestras\, including Page & Plant\, Luciano Pavarotti\, Smokey Robinson\, and Natalie Cole. Eddie always amazes the audience with his Hendrix-like tone and precision—he can soar beautifully over Laurie’s vocals or play a raucous\, dirgy groove. He was once labeled by the legendary music critic Jane Scott as “the most versatile musician on the planet”. Eddie spends his free time as a physics instructor at Case Western Reserve University. \nHey Mavis has appeared on NPR’s Mountain Stage\, NPR’s Whad’ya Know?\, and PBS’s Songs from the Center. The group has performed standing-room-only shows at the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival as well as nine consecutive sell-out concerts in their hometown of Akron\, Ohio. In 2017\, Melissa Etheridge saw Hey Mavis perform at a benefit concert and recruited the group to perform on her 2018 music cruise.

SUMMARY:Sofi & The Baladis
DESCRIPTION:Sofi & the Baladis\, a musical ensemble from Israel\, visits Marietta as part of the Arts Midwest World Fest. The five-member ensemble\, led by singer Sofi Tsedaka\, features soulful and richly textured performances of an array of musical traditions that lie at the heart of Israel’s diverse and historic cultures. The group’s multi-lingual concerts present new interpretations of songs from the ancient Samaritan community as well as compelling vocal and instrumental work from mid-20th century Arabic composers. Their music transcends genres and moves easily from deeply spiritual to an upbeat and rhythmic style that captivates and brings audiences to their feet. The commentary Sofi provides throughout the concert tells the moving and powerful story of the Samaritan Tsedaka family and their search for balance as they navigate the pathway between their Jewish and Arab identities. \n \nStudy Guide for educators: Sofi & The Baladis from Israel \nAbout Arts Midwest World Fest\nThis is the third in a series of four Arts Midwest World Fest performances at Peoples Bank Theatre. SUMMARY:Mountain Stage
DESCRIPTION:Mountain Stage with Larry Groce returns to Marietta\, Ohio! With Natalie Prass\, Red Wanting Blue\, Todd Burge\, Jill Sobule\, and Gurf Morlix. \nFor more than 30 years Mountain Stage with Larry Groce has been the home of live music on public radio. The two-hour radio show is produced by West Virginia Public Broadcasting and distributed by National Public Radio weekly on more than 240 stations across America and around the world via NPR Music and mountainstage.org. The show\, which is recorded before a live audience\, features performances by seasoned legends and emerging stars in genres ranging from folk\, blues and country to indie rock\, synth pop\, world and alternative music\, and beyond. \nSinger/songwriter Larry Groce serves as the show’s host\, artistic director and co-producer. The Mountain Stage house band includes jazz pianist Bob Thompson\, vocalist Julie Adams\, bass player Steve Hill\, drummer Ammed Solomon and guitarists Michael Lipton and Ryan Kennedy. The band is directed by Ron Sowell. \nAdditional artists will be announced soon. If you haven’t done so already\, be sure to sign up for our email updates\, so you can be the first to know when this performance’s guests are announced. \nMountain Stage is produced by West Virginia Public Broadcasting and distributed by NPR Music. \nGuest Artists\nNatalie Prass\n \nThough she’d been honing her craft and paying her dues for years\, Prass first emerged to international acclaim in 2015\, when her debut record earned its rightfully rapturous reception. Rolling Stone swooned for the Virginia native’s “beguiling voice and refined taste\,” while Pitchfork praised her album as a “smoldering perspective on passionate romance\,” and The New Yorker simply called it “timeless.” She appeared on the Martin Scorsese-helmed HBO series Vinyl\, performed on the BBC’s Later With Jools Holland\, and CBS This Morning\, and racked up more than ten million streams on Spotify. Before long\, she was headlining dates around the world and playing festival stages from Bonnaroo and Rock En Seine to End Of The Road and Forecastle. \nOnline: http://www.natalieprass.com/ \nRed Wanting Blue\n \nHailed as “Midwestern rock heroes” by American Songwriter\, Red Wanting Blue has spent the last twenty years establishing themselves as one of the indie world’s most enduring and self-sufficient acts\, notching appearances everywhere from Letterman to NPR and reaching #3 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart\, all while operating largely outside the confines of the traditional music industry. For their powerful new album\, ‘The Wanting\,’ the band handed production duties over to acclaimed singer/songwriter Will Hoge\, who helped them create their most ambitious\, fully realized collection yet. Recorded in Nashville\, TN\, the record draws on many of the group’s traditional strengths—indelible melodies\, infectious hooks\, explosive performances—even as the making of it pushed them far outside their comfort zone and forced them to take an unprecedented\, nearly year-long break from touring.\nAlternately triumphant and melancholic\, the songs on ‘The Wanting’ are both muscular and nuanced\, with frontman Scott Terry’s epic\, heartfelt vocals soaring above the band’s gritty brand of driving rock and roll. The record opens with the rousing “High and Dry\,” a feel-good rocker that also serves as something of a mission statement for a fiercely independent group that’s as much a band as they are a family\, with Terry singing\, “I want to stand on my own two feet again / And when I mess up / That’s when I hope my friends will pick me up.” On “Ulysses\,” the band channels early Phil Collins with pulsing synths and larger-than-life drums\, while the tender “Glass House” crescendos from a delicate whisper to a triumphant roar\, and the dreamy “I’ve Got A Feeling It Hurts” calls to mind the hypnotic drive of REM mixed with a touch of Jayhawks jangle. \n“This is really the most collaborative album our band has ever made\,” Terry says of the wide range of influences. “It’s the first record where every member contributed to the writing\, and I feel like we all matured as artists because of it.” \nOver the course of ten previous studio albums\, Red Wanting Blue brought their passionate\, unforgettable live show to every city and town that would have them\, blazing their own distinctive trail through the American heartland as they built up the kind of fanatically dedicated audiences normally reserved for arena acts. In 2016\, they celebrated with a 20th anniversary retrospective album/concert film entitled ‘RWB20 Live at Lincoln Theater\,’ which captured the band in all their glory at a sold-out hometown show in Columbus\, OH. \nRed Wanting Blue is:\nScott Terry (Vocals\, Tenor Guitar\, Ukulele)\nMark McCullough (Bass\, Chapman Stick\, Vocals)\nGreg Rahm (Guitar\, Keyboards\, Vocals)\nEric Hall (Guitar\, Lap Steel\, Vocals)\nDean Anshutz (Drums & Percussion) \nOnline: www.redwantingblue.com \nTodd Burge\n \nMountain Stage Radio Host\, Larry Groce has introduced Burge many times as “West Virginia’s premier singer-songwriter” — praise Burge does not take lightly. Drawing on his peculiar wit\, nimble guitar playing and the occasional inclusion of ukulele\, whistling and falsetto vocals\, Burge’s music conjures everyone from Roger Miller to Richard Thompson\, often in the same verse of a single song. \nA native of West Virginia’s Wood County region\, Burge spent the ’80s and ’90s earning his place as one of the most important and enduring figures in the state’s music scene\, fronting everything from the alt-rock band 63 Eyes to the outlaw-country cover project Triple Shot. Since the early 2000s\, Burge has concentrated on his singular brand of folk-pop storytelling. \nIn November of this year\, Burge will release two original albums that were recorded thirty-two years apart. Todd Burge (1986 The First Album) was recorded while Burge was still attending West Virginia University back in the mid-80s. The album got tangled up in some record industry politics and as a result\, never hit the music store bins. The new album\, recorded by Don Dixon (Mary Chapin-Carpenter\, REM) will be entitled Reflection (#ReflectionBurgeAlbum) and lyrically looks back on some facts and fiction that have brought Burge to where he is today. (Nobody is really sure where that is\, including me. TB) \nTodd has been invited back to Morgantown WV this fall to teach the very first songwriting course that West Virginia University has ever offered. At the end of the semester\, WVU will release an album of songs created by the students. \nTodd Burge resides in Parkersburg\, WV with his wife Lisa\, kids Sophia and Will and their dog\, Levon. (We don’t get cute and pretend the dog has human traits\, we love him\, but we own him. TB) \nMost recent recordings:\n2018 – Adam of Eve b/w Bald Eagle (Single)\n2016 – Live on Mountain Stage (2006-2015)\n2015 – Imitation Life (Produced by Tim O’Brien) \nOnline:\nwww.toddburge.com\nwww.facebook.com/toddburge\nwww.twitter.com/toddburge\nwww.instagram.com/todd.burge \nJill Sobule\n\nOn Nostalgia Kills (out September 14 on Jill’s own Pinko Records)\, the woman hailed by The New York Times for making “grown-up music for an adolescent age” turns her warm wit and poet’s eye on herself more than ever before\, revisiting moments from throughout her life that made her into the person she is today. It’s an especially poignant look back at childhood — “exorcising some junior high school demons\,” as she puts it. \nLooking back is a new experience for Jill Sobule. Ever since she first caught mainstream attention with her 1995 song “I Kissed a Girl” — the first song about same-sex romance ever to crack the Billboard Top 20 (and no relation to the later Katy Perry tune) — she’s always pushed forward\, exploring new sounds and subject matter with each passing album and refusing to be pigeonholed by her early hits (which also include the ‘90s alt-rock anthem “Supermodel\,” featured in an iconic scene in the film Clueless). \nFor all its graceful\, funny and heartbreaking explorations of awkward youth and grown-up regrets\, Nostalgia Kills is as of-the-moment as anything in Jill Sobule’s catalog. Through her own experiences\, she explores issues our society still collectively struggles with (LGBTQ rights\, teen mental health\, our unhealthy obsession with staying forever young) and gently skewers our tendency to dwell on the past at the expense of addressing the present. As she sings on the title track: “We look at ourselves in a long row of mirrors/We get smaller and smaller with each passing year/We have to keep moving or die.” \n \nGurf Morlix\nOnce\, when asked by a promoter for a copy of his biography\, Gurf Morlix responded with just two words\, “Legendary integrity.”  He would later admit that his response was perhaps a bit pompous\, “but true\,” he added.  “Well\, half true anyway.”  The story is a telling one\, demonstrating not only Morlix’s directness\, which is famous amongst his musical colleagues – or perhaps infamous\, depending on who you ask – but also his dry sense of humor and no-bullshit approach to life\, music\, and the music business. \nHad he sent the promoter a more traditional bio\, it likely would have noted that Gurf was born outside Lackawanna\, New York (near Buffalo)\, saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan\, formed a band (in which Peter Case made his stage debut)\, moved to Los Angeles\, worked for more than a decade as Lucinda Williams’ guitarist\, band-leader and backing vocalist\, produced Lucinda’s acclaimed Sweet Old World and eponymous albums\, famously left Lucinda\, toured with Warren Zevon\, moved to Austin\, befriended Blaze Foley\, produced a number of classic Americana albums you likely own if you are any kind of Americana music fan\, played on many more albums you probably own if you fall into that category\, received the Americana Music Association’s “Instrumentalist of the Year” award\, went on to make seven critically acclaimed albums of his own\, and then toured the world supporting them.  He now continues to play live\, produce albums for artists that move him\, and make his own albums.  He even goes fishing every once in a while. \nOnline:\ngurfmorlix.com/\nFacebook

SUMMARY:Lorrie Morgan
DESCRIPTION:Peoples Bank Theatre presents Lorrie Morgan. One of the biggest country music stars of the past 20 years\, Lorrie has sold more than 5 million albums and scored more than 15 Top 10 country hits. A member of the Grand Ole Opry\, Lorrie is recognized as one of the greatest female singers of her generation. \nThe first woman in her genre to begin her career with three consecutive Platinum albums\, Lorrie re-emerges on Shanachie Entertainment with Letting Go….Slow. The album is a collection that showcases a rainbow of emotions\, from darkest heartache to bright\, shiny humor. \n“Where I am in my life right now\, I’m not afraid to express what I feel\, or what I don’t feel\,” she comments about the collection’s varied moods. “I’m not afraid to express my views on anything\, especially on being a woman. \n“I have been a daughter\, a bride\, a mother\, a divorcee\, a widow\, a single mother\, a breadwinner and\, ultimately\, a survivor. In many ways\, I am a living\, breathing country song\, and I know what I sing. \n“I didn’t want this to be just another album. I wanted it to be something that really moved me. When I listened to songs for it\, I’d think\, ‘No\, not that one. I’m not going to be able to sing that one\, because I’m not going to be able to feel it.’ It was very important to me for this album to reflect the things that I am feeling today.” \nMorgan has long been the envy of her peers for her lustrous vocal phrasing and the down-to-earth believability of her torchy performances. On records such as “A Picture of Me Without You” and “I Guess You Had to Be There\,” she ached with pain. She was feisty and sassy in “Watch Me\,” “What Part of No” “Five Minutes” and “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength.” She has kicked up her stiletto heels in fun on her hits “Except for Monday” and “Go Away.” On her epic “Something in Red” she was an anguished\, struggling everywoman. \nHer performances on Letting Go….Slow can match any of her earlier efforts\, for they are among the most vibrant of her career. The collection is divided equally between new songs and her reinventions of country classics.

After many years of traveling and concerts\, his most memorable performance is still one from college where he found his future wife. Jennifer Vannatta\, Miss Kansas 1998\, married JC in 2004 and they have three children. \n \nSpecial Guest: Anthony Mossburg\nSix years. Four original albums. Thousands of shows around the country. \nThree years after picking up a guitar in a college dorm room\, Anthony Mossburg left the stability of a full-time job to chase after the only thing that made him feel alive; music. \nWhat followed over the next four years was a series of accolades\, achievements\, risks\, near-misses\, and setbacks that indefinitely shaped him as an artist and a person. With several bootstrap tours and three independent albums under his belt\, Anthony is now living in Columbus\, Ohio\, and is headlining shows around the country. \nHis breakthrough song\, “Whiskey and Wine”\, introduced a new sound to his avid fanbase\, and shed a light into his evolution as an artist. The hard work and risks didn’t go unnoticed. Early in 2015\, the song broke into the Top 10 on coveted iTunes Singer/Songwriter category. \nNow\, he is squaring his sights on introducing his soulful voice\, gutsy lyrics\, and melodic tones into a new direction that will push his creative talent like never before. This is just the beginning.

SUMMARY:Blood Sweat & Tears
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Bo Bice\nIt’s been five decades since drummer/producer Bobby Colomby and friends assembled the first group to successfully blend rock and jazz into a genre-crossing sound and style. So successfully in fact\, that the band’s second album\, Blood\, Sweat & Tears\, topped the Billboard charts for many weeks and beat out the Beatles’ Abbey Road for the prestigious Album of the Year Grammy award. That album produced three major hit singles: “You Made me so Very Happy\,” “Spinning Wheel\,” and “And When I Die.” \nBut now Colomby is looking for much more as he develops Blood Sweat & Tears into a contemporary voice\, one that reaches beyond a single\, nostalgic audience. \n \n“I no longer want to target just one generation. That would be a mistake. With this updated version\, I want this band to gain recognition with a wider audience. I want people of all ages to experience what this music has to offer. \nWill Blood\, Sweat & Tears have any of the original members? \n“Not a chance\,” says Colomby\, who last performed with BS&T in 1976. I think of this band like baseball’s Yankees. “When you’re at a Yankee game you’re not going to see Babe Ruth\, Mickey Mantle or Lou Gehrig. What you do come to expect is a team of top-notch players upholding a tradition of winning. That’s the Yankee legacy. It’s what people expect from BS&T as well . . . brilliant musicians\, singers\, songs and arrangements. \n“During the early years of Fox’s hit TV show American Idol (that just ended its 15 year production) Colomby received many phone calls from friends telling him to check out singer Bo Bice\, saying that his was a fresh voice and that he did a masterful job singing “Spinning Wheel.” He is a well seasoned southern rock singer with a great stage presence. Many of my more musically knowledgeable buddies also suggested that I ask Bo to join the band. I’m pleased to say that that’s exactly what happened and by the reaction of audiences world wide it was a great match.” \n \nSpecial Guest: Of The Dell\nOf The Dell was founded by brothers Corey and Cody Hatton\, of Huntington\, West Virginia. “Young\, restless and useless rock N roll created by four rough\, rowdy and semi conscious West Virginia natives.”

SUMMARY:America - SOLD OUT
DESCRIPTION:The year 2015 marked the 45th Anniversary of perennial classic-rock favorite\, America. Founding members\, Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell (along with former band mate Dan Peek) met in high school in London in the late 1960s and quickly harmonized their way to the top of the charts on the strength of their signature song “A Horse With No Name”. America became a global household name and paved the way with an impressive string of hits following the success of their first #1 single.  Forty plus years later\, these friends are still making music together\, touring the world and thrilling audiences with their timeless sound. \n \nAmerica’s journey has found them exploring a wide variety of musical terrain.  Their best-known tunes\, which also include “I Need You\,” “Ventura Highway\,” “Don’t Cross The River\,” “Tin Man\,” “Lonely People\,” and “Sister Golden Hair” were cornerstones of 1970’s Top 40 and FM rock radio. Yet beyond their impressive catalog of hits\, listeners would discover there was always much more to America than surface perceptions. The combination of Gerry Beckley’s melodic pop rock and Dewey Bunnell’s use of folk-jazz elements\, slinky Latin-leaning rhythms and impressionistic lyric imagery contrasted well with Dan Peek’s more traditional country-rock leanings and highly personal lyrics. \nAmerica’s albums–six certified gold and/or platinum\, with their first greatest hits collection\, History\, hitting four plus million in sales–displayed a fuller range of the trio’s talents than did their singles. Their material encompassed an ambitious artistic swath; from effects-laden rockers to oddball medleys to soul-bearing ballads\, America displayed a flawless blend of disparate genres and styles as wide-open as the great American plains. \nEnjoying massive success early in their career\, America earned their stripes as musical soldiers on the battlefield amidst the excess\, craziness and chaos of the 70’s. The trio won the Grammy® for Best New Artist in 1972 and began\nworking with George Martin and Geoff Emerick in 1974.  This successful team\nwent on to record seven albums and several Top Ten hits\, including “Tin Man” and “Sister Golden Hair”. \nBy the mid-70s\, inter-band conflicts combined with an exhaustive touring and recording schedule exacted its toll on the group. With Peek’s departure from the fold in 1977\, Gerry Beckley & Dewey Bunnell rose to the challenge and carried on as a duo. Shifts in sound and direction\, changes in producers and managers\, and a renewed dedication to the craft of songwriting helped rocket America to the upper reaches of the pop charts in 1982 with their smash single\, “You Can Do Magic.”  During this tumultuous time in their career\, Beckley and Bunnell immersed themselves in their craft\, infusing a newfound maturity into their rich body of work. Their growth as singers\, songwriters and musicians has continued into the present day as illustrated by landmark releases such as 2000’s Highway 3-disc box set\, 2002’s Holiday Harmony\, an album comprised of seasonal classics and live showcases\, 2007’s Here & Now\, 2009’s Live In Concert: Wildwood Springs and 2011’s Back Pages.

He made history in 2011 as both the first country artist and the youngest male artist of any genre to debut his first studio album\, the Platinum-certified Clear as Day\, at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard Top 200 album chart. He has gone on to see all three of his albums debut at No. 1 on a Billboard album chart\, with current combined sales nearing 3 million copies. He’s earned one Gold single and three Platinum singles and achieved two Top Ten hits with “Feelin’ It” and “See You Tonight.” The latter song earned McCreery both his first BMI Award for writing one of the Top 50 Country Songs of 2015 and his first Music Row No. 1 Challenge Coin. He won the 10th season of “American Idol” in 2011; was named the ACM New Artist of the Year Award in 2011; won the CMT Music Award for Breakthrough Video of the Year (“The Trouble with Girls”) in 2012; and American Country Awards for new Artist of the Year in 2011 and Breakthrough Artist of the Year in 2013. For more information\, visit www.ScottyMcCreery.com. \n \nSpecial Guest: Raquel Cole\n\n \nRaquel Cole\, like many artists\, started honing her musical craft at a very early age. When she was nine\, her dad surprised her with her first guitar\, and a make-shift band room in the basement of her childhood home was the perfect setting to hone her skills. “My dad is a drummer\,” shares Cole. “When I was younger\, he wanted someone to jam with\, so he bought me my first guitar\, introduced me to his favorite bands and we started jamming in the basement. I was hooked\, and soon after\, I had a strict rehearsal schedule that my dad made me stick with.” Growing up\, Cole was attracted to a wide-range of music\, and considers BTO\, Fleetwood Mac\, John Mayer\, Keith Urban and Shania Twain as some of her earliest influences. \nNow\, Cole is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist and has spent most of this year working on her EP to be released in June 2018. As much as she loves the studio\, she prefers the wide-open road and has fronted shows for Carrie Underwood\, Josh Turner\, The Band Perry\, Scotty McCreery\, Brothers Osborne\, Jonny Lang\, Diamond Rio and more. The CCMA Discovery winner was featured by the CBC as “25 Musicians Under 25 you need to know.” Additionally\, she has received shout-outs for her songwriting talents in American Songwriter Magazine\, USA Today and took 2nd place in the International Songwriting Competition in the Unsigned Only category for “Imogene\,” beating out thousands of fellow songwriters across the world. Her song\, “It’s For Real This Time\,” received airplay on Sirius XM’s The Highway. Cole’s songs have been recorded by Marie Osmond and The Railers.

SUMMARY:Clint Black - SOLD OUT
DESCRIPTION:With Sienna Stocky opening! \nAbout Clint Black\nIt is one of the most storied careers in modern music. Clint Black surged to superstardom as part of the fabled Class of ’89\, reaching #1 with five consecutive singles from his triple-platinum debut\, Killin’ Time. He followed that with the triple-platinum Put Yourself in My Shoes\, and then a string of platinum and gold albums throughout the ’90s. Perhaps most impressively\, Clint wrote or co-wrote every one of his more than three dozen chart hits\, including “A Better Man\,” “Where Are You Now\,” “When My Ship Comes In\,” “A Good Run of Bad Luck\,” “Summer’s Comin’\,” “Like the Rain” and “Nothin’ But the Taillights\,” part of a catalog that produced 22 #1 singles and made him one of the most successful singer/songwriters of the modern era. \nAlong the way\, Clint has sold over 20 million records\, earned more than a dozen gold and platinum awards in the U.S. and Canada\, landed nearly two dozen major awards and nominations\, including more than a dozen Grammy nominations\, and earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. \n \nAbout Sienna Stocky\nSienna Stocky is a young and talented singer songwriter with a distinctive voice that will quickly capture your heart.  Sienna’s music is in the alternative vein and her lyrics are well beyond her nineteen years.  Her music hints of Celtic influences but with a youthful American edge.  Sienna has recorded her own material at MovieSound Studios with Emmy Award-winning producer/composer David Traugh.  Her first CD\, “Intertwined” is now available on iTunes or at siennasongs.com.  Sienna will also be appearing on the PBS show “Songs at the Center” which will air in May\, 2018 on 146 stations in 25 states. \nSienna first sang on stage at a small music festival in the hills of southeast Ohio when she was just four years old.  At the age of nine\, she was singing in front of thousands at campaign stops for Vice President Joe Biden. \nSeveral years of traditional piano lessons helped provide a good musical foundation but Sienna always felt confined by the written score and began to compose her own melodies.  Despite this\, she was hesitant to pair up her original piano pieces with lyrics.  She explains\, “One day I was playing a piece I had written when my dad convinced me to just hum along with it”.  Within three months Sienna was writing her own songs with both words and music.  Sienna is now accompanying herself on both piano and guitar and has become a prolific songwriter. Sienna has made a deliberate effort not to emulate other artists and has developed a sound and style which is compelling\, recognizable\, and all her own.
