SUMMARY:Firehouse
DESCRIPTION:FireHouse has been rockin’ for over a decade. Their music has taken them allover the world and has produced Gold\, Platinum and Multi-Platinum records in the United States and countries abroad. In 1990\, their first album\, entitled FireHouse\, was released. The band’s first single\, Shake & Tumble\, had impressive radio success. \n  \nThe band then released Don’t Treat Me Bad\, which became their first Top Ten hit. This was followed by Love of a Lifetime\, which also entered the Top Ten\, reaching the #3 spot on the United States charts. This string of hits vaulted their first album to double platinum status in the United States; also going gold in Canada\, Japan and Singapore. At the 1991 American Music Awards\, FireHouse found themselves standing before the nation accepting the award f or Best New Hard Rock/Metal Band\, chosen over Nirvana and Alice in Chains. \n  \nThe band’s second album\, Hold Your Fire\, was released in 1992. It produced the hits Reach for the Sky and Sleeping with You. Another Top Ten hit\, When I Look into Your Eyes\, peaked on the United States chart sat #5. This album earned the band two more gold albums and over 1 million sales worldwide. In 1995\, FireHouse released their third album on Epic\, simply titled3. Once again\, FireHouse produced another Top Forty hit in the United States with I Live My Life For You. \n  \nIt was with this album that FireHouse made their first trip to Southeast Asia for a promotional tour. Earlier American hits like Don’t Treat Me Bad\, Love of a Lifetime and W hen I Look into Your Eyes had climbed the charts in Asia. Here for You\, the second single from3\, had also become a hit. The band then continued their promotional tour in South American countries such as Brazil and Argentina. Their fourth album\, Good Acoustics\, was released in 1996 and quickly went gold in Malaysia\, Thailand\, and Philippines. \n  \nGood Acoustics contains unplugged versions of the group’s greatest hits\, as well as four new songs. This album produced foreign hits such as In Your Perfect World\, Love Don’t Care and You Are My Religion. The band returned to Southeast Asia for another promotional tour at the end of 1996. Then\, in February 1997\, FireHouse embarked on their first concert tour of Southeast Asia playing sold out shows for fans in Indonesia\, Singapore\, Thailand\, and Japan. During May and June they toured the United States before returning to Southeast Asia in July for an unprecedented twenty-five city sold out tour of Indonesia. \nIn 1998\, FireHouse toured the United States on the Rock Never Stops tour\, which also included Slaughter\, Warrant\, Quiet Riot\, and LA Guns. October of1998 featured the Asian release of FireHouse’s fifth CD\, Category 5on Pony Canyon Records. The album quickly climbed to #4 on the Japanese charts\, and supporting promotional tour of Japan followed. Category 5 was officially released in the United States in 1999. \n  \nFireHouse continued touring through the winter and spring of 1999\, including3 more sold out shows in Tokyo\, Nagoya\, and Osaka. On April 22\, 1999\, the band recorded their live show in Osaka. The result – the first ever live album by FireHouse. Bring ‘em Out Live was released in Japan in December 1999and in the United States on Spitfire Records in July 2000.The turn of the century brought the release their seventh album\, titledO2. It has been released in SE Asia on Pony Canyon Records\, and in the US on Spitfire Records. This album had notable success despite the changing style of popular rock music. \n  \nDuring this time\, the band decided to part ways with original bass player\, Perry Richardson. O2’s remarkable bass playing was supplied by Bruce Waibel. Bruce brought to the band his phenomenal bass playing along with is equally impressive sense of humor. We truly regret to say that in September 2003\, Bruce has passed away. He will be greatly missed as a friend and talented musician. FireHouse headed back into the studio in early 2003 to write and record their8thalbum\,PRIME TIME. As music changes over time\, FireHouse continues to evolve their musical style; yet\, at the same time\, hang onto their hard rock roots. Released in October of 2003\, album number 8 is no exception. DESCRIPTION:Christopher Cross burst onto the music scene with his 1980 self-titled debut album\, winning five Grammy Awards\, including—for the first time in Grammy history—the “Big Four” most prestigious awards: Record of the Year (for the single “Sailing”)\, Album of the Year\, Song of the Year (also “Sailing”)\, and Best New Artist. \nIn a career spanning over five decades\, Cross has sold over 10 million albums. His music has garnered five Grammys\, an Oscar\, a Golden Globe\, an Emmy nomination and five Top 10 singles. Within a year of the first album’s release\, Cross was keeping company with music royalty like Burt Bacharach and Carole Bayer Sager and through that collaboration won an Oscar for “Arthur’s Theme\,” the theme song for the movie Arthur. With his 1983 release\, Another Page\, Cross was again in the Top 10 with the singles “Alright” and “Think of Laura.” \nHis song\, “Swept Away\,” composed for the hit television series\, Growing Pains\, was nominated for an Emmy in 1988. DESCRIPTION:SAXON\n\nSAXON were formed in 1979 and became leaders in the NWOBHM movement alongside bands such as Iron Maiden and Def Leppard and inspiration to the likes of Metallica\, Pantera etc. Touring to support their 24th studio album Hell\, Fire & Damnation\, released on January 19th 2024\, the band have continued to be at the top of their game throughout the years. Headlining many of the major rock festivals annually in Europe as well as an extensive touring commitment around the World\, their massive and loyal fan base continues to grow and the band don’t look as though they are slowing down at any point soon. Their setlist will consist of all the classic tracks such as Wheels Of Steel\, 747 (Strangers in the night)\, Strong Arm Of The Law\, Power and the Glory and Denim and Leather. \n  \nURIAH HEEP\nURIAH HEEP are currently into their 54th year and have never stopped! DESCRIPTION:For nearly six decades\, the three-time GRAMMY® Award-winning Nitty Gritty Dirt Band has entertained audiences with their top-shelf musicianship and timeless hits. Now the time has come for the band who has carried a torch for American country and roots music to say so long to the highways and byways they’ve crossed an unimaginable number of times throughout their career. On March 21st\, 2024\, the Dirt Band will kick off the first leg of their last traditionally scheduled gigs\, ALL THE GOOD TIMES: The Farewell Tour. \nThis isn’t goodbye forever\, but it will be the last fans see of multi-city runs and long bus rides. These special shows will celebrate the music created by the legendary\, yet ever-evolving NGDB. Many veteran bands trade on nostalgia\, on replication of past glories\, and on recycled emotions from younger\, more carefree days. The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band trades on a mix of reimagined classics and compelling newer works. The group formed in 1966 as a Long Beach\, California jug band\, scored its first charting single in 1967\, and embarked on a selfpropelled ride through folk\, country\, rock ‘n’ roll\, pop\, blue- grass\, and the amalgam now known as “Americana.” \nThe first major hit came in 1971 with the epic “Mr. Bojangles\,” which\, along with insistent support from banjo master Earl Scruggs\, opened doors in Nashville. Behind those doors were Earl Scruggs\, Roy Acuff\, Doc Watson\, Mother Maybelle Carter\, Jimmy Martin\, and others who would collaborate on a multi-artist\, multi-generational\, three-disc 1972 masterpiece: Will the Circle Be Unbroken went triple Platinum\, spawned two later volumes\, and wound up in the Grammy Hall of Fame. \nWas this a cutting-edge combo or a group of revivalists? Was the goal rebellion or musical piety? Yes\, to all these things. In the 1980s\, the Dirt Band reeled off 15 straight Top 10 country hits\, including chart-toppers “Long Hard Road (The Sharecropper’s Dream)\,” “Modern Day Romance\,” and “Fishin’ in the Dark” (co-written by Jim Photoglo\, who would join the band in the second decade of the new century). \n1989 brought a second Circle album\, this one featuring singer-songwriter talents including John Prine\, Rosanne Cash\, and John Hiatt and garnering two Grammy awards for the band (it later won another\, for a collaboration with Earl Scruggs and other fine folks). Circle II also won the Country Music Association’s Album of the Year prize. Circle III was released in 2003\, featuring collaborations with Johnny Cash\, Dwight Yoakam\, Emmylou Harris\, Taj Mahal\, and more. \nThroughout the group’s lifetime\, personnel has changed\, with each change resulting in positive steps forward\, new ways of playing the old songs\, and renewed enthusiasm for writing and recording fresh material. The latest Dirt Band lineup is expanded to six members for the first time since 1968. Today’s group consists of founding member Jeff Hanna\, harp master Jimmie Fadden (who joined in 1966)\, and soulful-voiced Bob Carpenter\, who has more than 40 years of service in the ensemble. Those veterans are now joined by singer-songwriter-bass man Jim Photoglo\, fiddle and mandolin wizard Ross Holmes\, and Hanna’s son\, the preternaturally talented singer and guitarist Jaime Hanna. \nBlood harmony\, thrilling instrumental flights\, undeniable stage chemistry…these things are part of each Dirt Band show\, just as they are part of Dirt Does Dylan\, the first recording from the reconfigured\, six-strong group released in 2022. Produced by Ray Kennedy and Jeff Hanna\, it’s a remarkable ride through some of the most impactful songs of the past century\, penned by Bob Dylan and taken for a blue highway spin by a great American band\, with help from genius-level contemporary artists like Jason Isbell and The War and Treaty. Awards in the ‘70s\, ‘90s\, and ‘20s\, #1 records in every decade but the 2010s. \nOnly Tanya Tucker can claim a resume like that: one long on living\, not judging\, creating\, not looking back. When 2019’s acclaimed While I’m Livin’ won the GRAMMY for Best Country Album\, and its poignant single “Bring My Flowers Now\,” not only won Best Country Song but was also nominated in the all-genre Song of the Year category\, it was a powerful statement about authenticity\, about staying power and about greatness. But that doesn’t always make the follow-up any easier. \nTanya Tucker has seen\, done and been places most people can’t imagine\, and she’s done it at a pace that would kill mere mortals. A child thrust into stardom with a series of precocious hits\, the iconic “Delta Dawn\,” “Would You Lay With Me\,” and “Blood Red & Goin’ Down\,” among them\, she then released a pair of wild and brash rock records at 18\, then returned to country music in her 20s to ultimately take the CMA Female Vocalist of the Year Award in 1991. Along the way\, she’s been a cutting horse champion\, played dives\, arenas\, stadiums\, and the Houston Rodeo\, created headlines\, and wrung out the absolute last drop out of every moment. \nAnd that approach to living is what makes her new album\, Sweet Western Sound (Fantasy) such a tour du force. Building on her collaboration with Brandi Carlile and Shooter Jennings (who co-produced Livin’)\, they dug deeper into the caverns and canyons of Tanya’s life. This time the music is bigger and more immediate\, the reckonings more profound; but as always\, the heart is strong\, honest\, and willing to tell the truth about it all. \n“Kristofferson\, Jessi Colter\, they know I’m a good person and have a good heart\,” she explains. “I didn’t really know them coming up\, though I was close to Waylon. It takes a few years maybe to get through the reputation\, you know? Was it that bad? I don’t know…” She pauses\, then adds with a chuckle\, “But I tell ’em all\, my bad reputation has made me a damn good living. So\, don’t screw that up for me now!” \nOnly Tanya Tucker could inspire the revered late outlaw songwriter Billy Joe Shaver to leave a tribute song on her voicemail. And only the copper-haired icon would think to keep Shaver’s legacy alive by bookending Sweet Western Sound’s journey through the emotional plains of her life with his acapella homages celebrating her essence. \nThough known as a wildcat vocalist\, in truth\, the Outlaw Myth has always been more attitude than lifestyle. It sprang out of Willie and Waylon’s unique brand of country\, one where the spirit is free\, the songs and performances melt stylistic rules and laughter abounds. \nIndeed\, Tanya’s career\, and its renaissance comes from a willingness to expose those deeper places\, to write her own story and draw on writers who have come to know her intimately. It’s there in the existentialist drifter’s postcard\, “Breakfast In Birmingham\,” a duet with Carlile\, which the 9-time GRAMMY winner wrote with Bernie Taupin. It’s also there in\, “Ready As I’ll Never Be\,” another slice of irresistible hard-spun wisdom Tanya co-wrote with Carlile. Carlile’s longtime collaborators\, Tim\, and Phil Hanseroth\, contributed “Kindness\,” a tender and empathetic acknowledgment of the understanding one only comes to through hard patches\, tough fates\, and busted dreams. \n“For me\, songwriting’s a release\,” explains the woman nominated for her first GRAMMY at 14. I finally finished “Bring My Flowers Now\,” 30\, 40 years down the road. My problem is I spit it out\, and I can’t retain it. I always tell people\, ‘If it comes out\, you better get it ‘cause I won’t remember it later.’ Brandi understands that\, puts in a few other lines\, and remembers things I’ve told her.” \n“I’m a Sunday writer\,” Tucker continues. “I’m gonna come over and eat some cornbread with ya\, laugh\, talk a bit and maybe we’ll write a song. If we talk about it\, set a time\, it’s too serious. The whole idea of ‘Get together at 10 o’clock in the morning\,’ where’s the inspiration in that?” \nInspiration for Tucker\, Carlile\, Jennings\, and the assembled musicians was everything. Though sessions were delayed by the increased demand for all three\, when they finally reconvened in the studio\, their passion was on full display. “I just go in and try to do the best vocal possible\,” she adds. “I put all the feeling I can into the songs. My Dad taught me from the youngest age\, that’s what you need to do.” \nYou can hear it in the soulful\, “City of Gold\,” the gorgeous gospel tune written by JT Nero of Birds of Chicago. It’s imbued in the Carlile/Hanseroth/Hanseroth confessional\, life-measuring “That Wasn’t Me\,” then it washes over Shooter Jennings’ stately piano in his “Waltz Across A Moment\,” which delivers the album’s title in a bouquet of life’s experiences. \n“Come and meet me in the shadows of this drunk and broken sound\,” she intones on the track\, voice all hickory smoke\, candle glow\, and Spanish leather\, “Don’t curse your mind with yesterday\, or the love we could have found/ Just waltz across the moment to that… sweet… Western sound.” In a moment\, all that she is\, delivered. A blessing\, a benediction\, an embrace\, a reason to believe when all’s gone wrong. To know how to hope in the face of darkness is the mark of true wisdom. For a woman still too young for Social Security\, it was earned by persevering\, by living. \n“Letter To Linda\,” was taken from an actual letter Tanya penned a few years ago on the news of her hero’s health struggles. “I walked into the Troubadour and heard (her version of) ‘Desperado\,’ and it all came rushing back\,” Tanya marveled. “I remember the first time I heard Heart Like A Wheel with that righteous combination of country\, pop\, and rock. It was everything I wanted to do… I only met her once\, but I wanted her to know how I felt.” \nPowered by a deep well of self-awareness\, “The List\,” a romping kiss-off Tucker/Carlile composition\, is another example of the fire that burns within. With her singular sardonic ‘get in line buddy’ tone\, Tanya impales the pettiness of those who think their judgments can hurt more than her own do. “My old friends have heard me say that for years\,” Tucker says. “I always know where it comes from\, who instigated it\, and whatever else. But I’ve always said I don’t care\, because I know my list\, my self-reckoning is going to be longer and harsher than theirs.” \nStay open\, cause sometimes life and art collide in unforeseen ways. “When The Rodeo Is Over (Where Does The Cowboy Go?)\,” is an elegy for a way of life\, but not a man willing to stop living. Against the vistas of Sedona\, the old rodeo rider lives out his days smoking cigarettes “he can’t afford” and picking turquoise\, an allegory perhaps for so many compadres the audacious artist has come to know. “I was in LA\, the night before the first session started. Brandi sent me a song\, saying ‘If you like it\, we’ll start with it…’\,” Tucker recalls. “I gave it to Craig (Dillingham\, Tanya’s boyfriend) to listen to. He comes back in a minute\, and I asked him\, ‘Did you like it?’ and he says\, ‘Like it? Hell\, I wrote it!’ He’d never pitched it to me\, but Brandi did. It’s one of those songs that just stays with you.” \nStaying with you is the essence of how Tanya Tucker endures. You hear that whiskey voice\, which cuts straight to your most vulnerable places\, and you’ll never forget. Among his many accolades\, besides the four Grammy Awards\, he was given the Americana Music Association’s inaugural Trailblazer Award\, and was named Texas State Musician. \nHis works\, rich and eclectic\, are some of the most beloved of any artist working today. \nLeo Kottke\nAcoustic guitarist Leo Kottke was born in Athens\, Georgia\, but left town after a year and a half. Raised in 12 different states\, he absorbed a variety of musical influences as a child\, flirting with both violin and trombone\, before abandoning Stravinsky for the guitar at age 11. \nAfter adding a love for the country-blues of Mississippi John Hurt to the music of John Phillip Sousa and Preston Epps\, Kottke joined the Navy underage\, to be underwater\, and eventually lost some hearing shooting at lightbulbs in the Atlantic while serving on the USS Halfbeak\, a diesel submarine. \nKottke had previously entered college at the U of Missouri\, dropping out after a year to hitchhike across the country to South Carolina\, then to New London and into the Navy\, with his twelve string. “The trip was not something I enjoyed\,” he has said\, “I was broke and met too many interesting people.” \nDischarged in 1964\, he settled in the Twin Cities area and became a fixture at Minneapolis’ Scholar Coffeehouse\, which had been home to Bob Dylan and John Koerner. He issued his 1968 recording debut LP Twelve String Blues\, recorded on a Viking quarter-inch tape recorder\, for the Scholar’s tiny Oblivion label. (The label released one other LP by The Langston Hughes Memorial Eclectic Jazz Band.) \nAfter sending tapes to guitarist John Fahey\, Kottke was signed to Fahey’s Takoma label\, releasing what has come to be called the Armadillo record. Fahey and his manager Denny Bruce soon secured a production deal for Kottke with Capitol Records. \nKottke’s 1971 major-label debut\, “Mudlark\,” positioned him somewhat uneasily in the singer/songwriter vein\, despite his own wishes to remain an instrumental performer. Still\, despite arguments with label heads as well as with Bruce\, Kottke flourished during his tenure on Capitol\, as records like 1972’s “Greenhouse” and 1973’s live “My Feet Are Smiling” and “Ice Water” found him branching out with guest musicians and honing his guitar technique. \nWith 1975’s Chewing Pine\, Kottke reached the U.S. Top 30 for the second time; he also gained an international following thanks to his continuing tours in Europe and Australia. \nHis collaboration with Phish bassist Mike Gordon\, “Clone\,” caught audiences’ attention in 2002. Kottke and Gordon followed with a recording in the Bahamas called “Sixty Six Steps\,” produced by Leo’s old friend and Prince producer David Z. \nKottke has been awarded two Grammy nominations; a Doctorate in Music Performance by the Peck School of Music at the U of Wisconsin\, Milwaukee; and a Certificate of Significant Achievement in Not Playing the Trombone from the U of Texas at Brownsville with Texas Southmost College. \n  \nEnjoy all of our upcoming performances on our new Byrider Stage!

Together\, these songs offer a snapshot of a spirited\, independent-minded group at the peak of its powers\, always pushing forward and seeking to evolve beyond what’s come before.  \n“There’s still acoustic guitar\, upright bass\, and percussion on this album — things people use all the time — but we’re always thinking\, ‘How can we make this sound like us\, but not like something we’ve already done?'” Oliver says. “Sometimes\, the only way to do that is to get weird.”  \nThat sense of exploration pumps its way through Heart is the Hero like lifeblood. Arriving on the heels of 2019’s Live at The Fillmore\, 2020’s Kingdom In My Mind\, and Oliver Wood’s solo album Always Smilin’ — all of which were released on Honey Jar Records\, the band’s independent label — Heart is the Hero is bold\, bright\, and singularly creative\, a fully realized collective effort ultimately greater than the sum of its parts. Perhaps that’s to be expected from a group whose willingness to experiment has earned acclaim from Rolling Stone and NPR\, as well as an annual touring schedule of sold-out music halls and theaters on both sides of the Atlantic. Ask The Wood Brothers\, though\, and they’ll tell you to expect the unexpected. “We are never satisfied if we are not searching for new musical recipes\,” says Jano Rix\, nodding to the uncharted territory that Heart is the Hero covers. Chris Wood agrees\, adding\, “We are one of those bands that isn’t easily categorized. We know what our strengths are\, but we can’t help but push the envelope\, as well. It’s too much fun.”  \n\nMaya de Vitry\nMaya de Vitry’s dynamic and vibrant voice seems to rise out of some necessity of bringing songs to life\, embracing listeners with what Folk Alley calls a “soulful intimacy.” She grew up in a musical family in Lancaster County\, Pennsylvania\, understanding music to be a place of gathering\, a way to spend a summer night by a campfire. She was surrounded by bluegrass and old-time music\, and country\, gospel\, and folk songs. She took piano lessons from her grandmother\, and took up classical violin in school\, but it was some combination of the groove-centered fiddle music of Appalachia\, the vulnerable poetry in Townes Van Zandt’s songwriting\, and the deeply emotive phrasing of Billie Holiday’s singing that first compelled her to begin creating tunes and songs of her own – and it was around campfires that she slowly found the courage to begin singing them.  \nMaya first traveled and performed as a fiddling street musician\, and then in bars\, theaters\, and on festival stages as a founding member of The Stray Birds. When the trio parted ways in 2018\, Maya embarked on an ever-evolving musical path of solo work and new collaborations. Based in Nashville\, Tennessee\, she enjoys moving between acoustic and electric worlds\, playing in the musical spaces between folk\, country\, and indie rock – although she thinks of it all as “song music”. Her recordings and live performances embody both sincerity and playfulness\, and a compelling reverence for the power of songs to be a place of gathering – whether played on stage\, or around a campfire.  \nMaya tours with her acoustic trio\, and with her electric band\, each featuring a fluid lineup of consistently stellar musicians who create a powerfully dynamic show. DESCRIPTION:  \nThe six men comprising Styx have committed to rocking the Paradise together with audiences far and wide by entering their second decade of averaging over 100 shows a year\, and each one of them is committed to making the next show better than the last. Styx draws from over four decades of barnburning chart hits\, joyous singalongs\, and hard-driving deep cuts. Like a symphony that builds to a satisfying crescendo\, a Styx set covers a wide range of stylistic cornerstones. From the progressively sweeping splendor that is “The Grand Illusion” to the hunker-down fortitude of all that is the “Blue Collar Man\,” from the majestic spiritual love for a special “Lady” to the seething indictment of preening\, primping pageantry for pageantry’s sake of “Miss America\,” from an individual yearning for true connection as a “Man in the Wilderness” to a soul-deep quest to achieve what’s at the heart of one’s personal vision in “Crystal Ball\,” from the regal reach-for-the-stars bravado of “Come Sail Away” to the grainy all-in gallop of that rugged “Renegade” who had it made\, the band draws on an unlimited cache of ways to immerse one’s mind and body in their signature sound. \nStyx hit its stride with guitarist/vocalist Tommy Shaw’s first LP with the band\, 1976’s Crystal Ball\, and then they become the first group to score four triple-platinum albums in a row: The Grand Illusion (1977)\, Pieces of Eight (1978)\, Cornerstone (1979)\, and Paradise Theater (1981). Over the ensuing decade\, Styx weathered the shifting winds of the public’s musical taste\, reconvening for a highly successful 1996 Return to Paradise tour that was expertly documented on both CD and DVD in 1997. With a little help from their many friends in Cleveland’s Contemporary Youth Orchestra\, One With Everything (2006) became a hybrid orchestral rock blend for the ages. And on The Grand Illusion / Pieces of Eight Live (2011)\, the band performed at its peak when tackling every track from a pair of their finest triple-platinum albums back to back. Not only that\, but the band re-recorded two discs’ worth of its classic material with much finesse and musculature\, aptly known as Regeneration Volume I & II (2011 & 2012). Observes Tommy\, “Now you have something you can take home with you and go\, ‘Yeah\, that’s the band I saw last night.’ ” \nAfter more than a decade together on the road\, this incarnation of Styx is looking forward to performing as many shows as it can as long as it can. “It all comes back to the chemistry\,” says bassist/vocalist Ricky Phillips. “The legacy of this band will be that it brought joy to millions of people\,” notes drummer Todd Sucherman. Observes keyboardist/vocalist Lawrence Gowan\, “We’ve always tried to explain why this is this happening. It’s obviously a multitude of factors\, but the main one is that our show is really good! And if it’s really good\, they’re going to come to see it again.” Styx hopes it’s a wave that never crests. “Every night\, we go on that magic carpet ride together\,” observes original bassist Chuck Panozzo\, who joins the band on tour as often as he can. “Music is this amazing force that comes from a higher place. I’m humbled for this band to have the great success that it has\,” says co-founding guitarist/vocalist James “JY” Young. “We just want to keep on doing this\,” asserts Tommy. “We want to let life take its course and let this music continue to be the soundtrack to it. And this band will continue to evolve as long as we live and play this music.” The jig is up\, the news is out: The Esprit de Styx is alive and well\, and now it’s time to see for yourself.
