SUMMARY:The Aluminum Show
DESCRIPTION:Presented with support from Dr. Shane & Tatum Parmer and Copperleaf Interior Design Studio \n \nThis new and unique show brings the material\, the music and the artists together on stage in a magical\, mystery-filled creation combining visual theater\, dance\, and humor into an exciting\, multi-sensory experience\, the likes of which audiences have never before seen. \nThis is the story of one man’s incredible journey to a parallel universe – a futuristic planet made entirely of aluminum. At first glance this world seems vastly different than ours\, but a second glance reveals it is actually quite similar. \nAluminum pipes come to life right before the audience’s very eyes\, transforming into imaginary\, mysterious\, and playful characters. Much like in our world\, the aluminum universe is also plagued by a fight between good and evil\, where the forces of beauty and compassion strive to triumph over the forces of intrigue and fear. \nThe new show was written and directed by Lior Kalfo\, creator of the internationally successful shows “Voca People\,” “Fantasy\,” and “Glow\,” with choreography by Ido Tadmor\, one of Israel’s foremost choreographers\, and under the artistic direction of Ilan Azriel\, co-creator of the international Aluminum Show. \nThe show is suitable for all ages.

SUMMARY:Missoula Children's Theatre: Pinocchio
DESCRIPTION:Sponsored by Morrison Incorporated. \n \nPeoples Bank Theatre is excited to welcome Missoula Children’s Theatre for a summer production of Pinocchio. Performances are scheduled for Saturday\, July 23 at 3 p.m. and 5:30. \nGeppetto fashioned the puppet in the image of a small boy. Even as the lonely and kind woodcarver worked far into the night\, old Geppetto was not aware that the wood under the chisel had come from the trunk of an enchanted tree. But the Blue Fairy was aware\, as she watched from afar and gave to that puppet the gift of life. Thus begins the Missoula Children’s Theatre adaptation of one of the most beloved of all children’s stories–PINOCCHIO. Join our wooden-head as he dances with Geppetto’s charming toys\, travels the road to Pleasure Isle with Candlewick and his Crew\, and is swindled by the unsavory Fox and Cat. After escaping the clutches of the evil puppetmaster\, Stromboli\, Pinocchio finds himself in trouble once more–this time swallowed by a monstrous whale. Very scary stuff! As Geppetto and the friendly Urchins spin their magical tale\, we learn with Pinocchio that there are no shortcuts on the road to becoming a real\, live boy. \nAuditions for Pinocchio will be Monday\, July 18 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Students entering 1st grade through 12th grade are encouraged to audition. Approximately 50-60 local students will be cast to appear in the show. (Please note: There is no guarantee that everyone who auditions will be cast in the play.) Students wishing to audition must arrive by the scheduled starting time and stay for the entire two-hour session. The first rehearsal begins approximately 15-30 minutes after the audition. \nDue to time constraints\, late-comers and anyone missing the initial audition may not be considered in the casting of the show. \nMost students in the production will rehearse daily 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.\, Tuesday through Friday. Although not all cast members will be needed at every session\, those auditioning must have a clear schedule for the entire week and if selected\, be able to attend all rehearsals required for their role. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed at the conclusion of the audition. Cast members scheduled for the full 4½ hours of rehearsal will be asked to bring a sack lunch or snack. \nThe Missoula Children’s Theatre is a non-profit organization based in Missoula\, Montana. This coming year more than 65\,000 cast members across the globe will take to the stage to the delight and applause of their families\, friends\, community\, neighbors and teachers! \nNo preparation or prior experience is necessary for the audition. (But a smile never hurts!) For more info call Peoples Bank Theatre at 740-373-0894.

SUMMARY:The Complete History of Comedy (abridged)
DESCRIPTION:Rescheduled from January 23 \nThey’ve skewered history\, the Bible\, all the Great Books\, and the world’s most celebrated playwright. Now\, Reduced Shakespeare Company tackles the subject it was born to reduce. From the high-brow to the low\, The Complete History of Comedy (abridged) covers comedy through the ages\, from Aristophanes and Shakespeare and Moliere (Is Moliere funny? Why not?) to Vaudeville and Charlie Chaplin to The Daily Show and Anthony Weiner. \nThe Complete History of Comedy (abridged) answers the fundamental questions: \n\nWhich is the least funny nationality? Which is the funniest? Why did the former try to exterminate the latter?\nHow do critics describe everything in a way to make it sound unfunny? (“First of all\, the premise is weak. No one would ever believe that a baseball team would actually have a first baseman named “Who.”)\nWhy did the chicken cross the road? RSC dreams of a day when chickens can travel freely without their motives being questioned.\n\n“You knew they’d get this one right. Audacious\, often outrageous and bawdy\, the frantic pacing reminds you of an old-time burlesque or vaudeville revue.” – Boston Stages \nTickets to The Complete History of Comedy (abridged) are far more affordable than tickets to an amusement park\, but you’ll come away with the same feeling of nausea and motion sickness. From cavemen telling “Rock Rock” jokes to Chris Rock and everything in-between\, the bad boys of abridgment leave no joke untold as they deconstruct the entire history of comedy in 90 rollicking minutes. \n\n  \nAs one would expect in an examination of the History of Comedy\, this show contains occasional strong language and sexual innuendo.

SUMMARY:Cashore Marionettes
DESCRIPTION:The Cashore Marionettes are unmatched in artistry\, grace and refinement of movement. The internationally acclaimed Cashore Marionettes redefine the art of puppetry. The moving and humorous performances have astounded audiences in Europe\, the Far East and across North America including stops at the Kennedy Center\, Annenberg Center\, Kravis Center\, and many others. \nThe program\, Simple Gifts\, is a series of touching portrayals and poignant scenes from everyday life set to stunning music by such composers as Vivaldi\, Strauss\, Beethoven and Copland. Through a combination of virtuoso manipulation\, beautiful music\, theatrical illusion\, and artistic insight\, the original vignettes presented in Simple Gifts provide an entertaining and sensitive vision of what it is to be human. The performance explores a range of emotions with characters and actions that are amazingly convincing. The marionettes are engineering marvels and the quality of movement is extraordinary. \nJoseph Cashore has received numerous awards for his artistry including a Pew Fellowship for Performance Art\, based upon his artistic accomplishment; a Henson Foundation Grant\, an award intended to help promote puppetry to adult audiences; and a Citation of Excellence from the UNIMA- USA\, the highest honor an American puppeteer can receive. The Cashore Marionettes are so well conceived and projected\, the movement so convincing\, the illusion so powerful\, that the result is a compelling and unforgettable theatrical experience.
