DESCRIPTION:With legends like George Jones\, Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard all passed on\, country music purists often echo the question Jones himself asked: “Who’s going to fill their shoes?” The answer\, in part\, is Marty Stuart. \nWhile he’s too gracious to admit it himself\, the Grammy-winning singer\, songwriter\, and musician is living\, breathing country-music history. He’s played alongside the masters\, from Cash to Lester Flatt\, who discovered him; been a worldwide ambassador for Nashville\, Bakersfield\, and points in between; and safeguarded country’s most valuable traditions and physical artifacts. Including its literal shoes: Stuart counts the brogan of Carter Family patriarch A.P. Carter and an assortment of Cash’s black boots among his vast collection of memorabilia. \nBut most importantly\, Stuart continues to record and release keenly relevant music\, records that honor country’s rich legacy while advancing it into the future. Way Out West\, his 18th studio album\, hits both of those marks. DESCRIPTION:For three decades\, the Commodores have remained a force in the music industry. “The Legends of Motown”\, “Hit\, After Hit\, After Hit”\, “Grammy Award Winners”\, “All The Emotion\, All the Excitement”\, “If You Haven’t Seen Them Live\, You Haven’t Heard The Commodores”. \nThe Commodores aren’t just any group. They have staying power. Just like their hit song “Brick House\,” the Commodores have created a foundation that just won’t budge. \nAfter churning out hit after hit in the Motown days\, the Commodores still hadn’t achieved Grammy recognition. This wasn’t to be until 1986\, without Lionel Richie\, when the Commodores released “Night Shift”. \nIn 1968 the group was formed while all the members were in college at Tuskeegee Institute. After being discovered by Berry Gordy\, the Commodores went on to sell over 60 million records for Motown. With hits like “Machine Gun” and “Sail On”\, the Commodores became proven artists. They proved it then. They proved it in 1986 with “Night Shift”\, and now they are ready to prove it again. \nUnlike many other groups\, the Commodores haven’t rested on their early hits. Quite the contrary\, the Commodores have continued to put out quality work. With the creation of their new label\, the Commodores released Commodores Hits Vol. I\, Commodores Hits Vol. II\, Commodores Christmas\, and Commodores XX-No Tricks. The newest CD “Commodores Live” was recorded during the groups 1997 U.S. tour and released in December 1998 along with the TV special of the same name. DESCRIPTION:Featuring special opening guest: Chris Haddox \nMCA Nashville recording artist Josh Turner\, while a multi-platinum-selling star himself\, is a country music fan first and foremost. He’s even concocted his own version of Mount Rushmore conceived solely of country music legends. Turner’s “Mount Rushmore of Country Music” boasts five faces rather than four (it’s his mountain\, after all) — Randy Travis\, John Anderson\, Johnny Cash\, Vern Gosdin\, and Hank Williams. \nThe giants carved into the granite of Turner’s musical soul form the core of his aptly titled new album\, Country State of Mind. “I’ve always said that any song you hear coming from my voice\, you’re going to hear bits and pieces of those five guys\,” he says. “They taught me how to be Josh Turner.” \nThe dozen songs on Country State of Mind\, including songs from those five legends among others\, span more than half a century of classic country music\, encompassing both well-known standards and deep-catalog cuts. The album shows a singer in dialogue with the songs and the artists that shaped his vision. It’s a conversation — relayed in the distinctive\, resonant baritone that brought Turner #1 hits and five gold and platinum albums — between the past and present of country music. And on half the tracks\, Turner invites other voices — some heroes\, some contemporaries — to join him in the conversation. \n“I knew the artists I wanted to represent\,” explains Turner\, “and I chose songs that exemplified who each of these artists was from my perspective.” The result is a multifaceted album that reflects a distinctive mix of popular and personally meaningful songs. “Forever and Ever\, Amen” marks Randy Travis’ first recording session since an incapacitating 2013 stroke. John Anderson\, who has written and recorded with Turner in the past\, joins him to reprise Anderson’s 1993 hit “I’ve Got It Made.” Early in his career\, Turner often performed Vern Gosdin’s first chart-topping single\, “I Can Tell By the Way You Dance (You’re Gonna Love Me Tonight)\,” and has long dreamed of re-introducing it to a new generation of listeners. Turner plays guitar for the first time on one of his albums on his renditions of Johnny Cash’s “The Caretaker” and Hank Williams’ “Alone and Forsaken” — the album’s oldest\, and darkest\, songs. \n“When I was growing up\, before I moved to Nashville\, I was crazy about sad songs\,” he says. “There has always been a part of my heart that has loved those sad\, lonesome\, and slow songs.” \nTurner chose his guests as carefully as he did his material\, selecting artists who shared his love and respect for the material. “I wanted artists I knew have an appreciation for traditional country music\,” he says. Besides heroes Travis and Anderson\, Turner invited Country Music Hall of Famer Kris Kristofferson to record a new version of his 1973 chart-topper “Why Me” with him. The title track\, originally a 1986 hit for Hank Williams Jr.\, becomes a duet with fellow Grand Ole Opry member Chris Janson. The members of Runaway June take George Jones’ part on “You Don’t Seem to Miss Me\,” and Maddie & Tae sing with Turner on “Desperately\,” a 2004 single for George Strait and the album’s newest song. Country State of Mind also includes songs originally made famous by Keith Whitley (“I’m No Stranger to the Rain”)\, Waylon Jennings (“Good Ol’ Boys” Theme from The Dukes of Hazzard)\, and Alan Jackson (“Midnight in Montgomery”). \nFrom the very start of his career through chart-topping hits like “Your Man\,” “Would You Go With Me\,” “Why Don’t We Just Dance\,” and “All Over Me\,” Turner has immersed himself in country music’s history and its iconic figures. After all\, this is someone who\, as a student at Nashville’s Belmont University\, took an open gate on Johnny Cash’s property as a sign he should knock on the legendary singer’s door and introduce himself. \n“The doorknob wiggles\, the door swings open\, and there stands Johnny Cash\,” Turner recalls. “He and I both jump back\, because he didn’t expect to see me\, and I sure didn’t expect him to answer the door.” \nLater\, as the hits came\, along with multiple GRAMMY\, CMA\, and ACM nominations\, Turner joined the Grand Ole Opry. DESCRIPTION:Scotty McCreery released his fifth studio album Same Truck on September 17\, 2021. The first single\, “You Time\,” hit No. 1 on both the Billboard and Mediabase country radio charts later that month\, and the second single “Damn Strait” is out now. McCreery co-wrote 10 of the 12 songs on the album. \nThe North Carolina native achieved new heights in the last few years by earning three back-to-back No. 1 hits from his most recent album Seasons Change\, the RIAA Gold-certified project which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Album chart: the RIAA Double Platinum-certified “Five More Minutes\,” the RIAA Platinum-certified “This Is It\,” which stayed at the top of the charts for two weeks\, and RIAA Gold-certified “In Between.” McCreery co-wrote all 11 songs on Seasons Change\, which Rolling Stone named as one of the “40 Best Country and Americana Albums of 2018.” \nMcCreery’s current combined album sales surpass 3 million copies. SUMMARY:Esbenshade Series: Dirty Dozen Brass Band
DESCRIPTION:Celebrating over 40 years since their founding in 1977\, New Orleans-based Dirty Dozen Brass Band has taken the traditional foundation of brass band music and incorporated it into a blend of genres including Bebop Jazz\, Funk and R&B/Soul. This unique sound\, described by the band as a “musical gumbo\,” has allowed the Dirty Dozen to tour across 5 continents and more than 30 countries\, record 12studio albums and collaborate with a range of artists from Modest Mouse to Widespread Panic to Norah Jones. It was a joining of two proud\, but antiquated\, traditions at the time: social and pleasure clubs dated back over a century to a time when black southerners could rarely afford life insurance\, and the clubs would provide proper funeral arrangements. Brass bands\, early predecessors of jazz as we know it\, would often follow the funeral procession playing somber dirges\, then once the family of the deceased was out of earshot\, burst into jubilant dance tunes as casual onlookers danced in the streets. By the late ’70s\, few of either existed. The Dirty Dozen Social and Pleasure Club decided to assemble this group as a house band\, and over the course of these early gigs\, the seven-member ensemble adopted the venue’s name: The Dirty Dozen Brass Band. \nEnjoy all of our upcoming performances on our new Byrider Stage!

DESCRIPTION:Featuring special opening guest: William Matheny\nFor five decades\, Blue Öyster Cult has been thrilling fans of intelligent hard rock worldwide with powerful albums loaded with classic songs. Indeed\, the Long Island\, NY-based band is revered within the hard rock and heavy metal scene for its pioneering work. Blue Öyster Cult occupies a unique place in rock history because it’s one of very few hard rock/heavy metal bands to earn both genuine mainstream critical acclaim as well as commercial success. \nThe band is often cited as a major influence by other acts such as Metallica\, and BÖC was listed in VH1’s countdown of the greatest hard rock bands of all time. \nUpon the release of BÖC’s self–‐titled debut album in 1972\, the band was praised for its catchy-yet-heavy music and lyrics that could be provocative\, terrifying\, funny or ambiguous\, often all in the same song. BÖC’s canon includes three stone-cold classic songs that will waft through the cosmos long after the sun has burned out: The truly haunting “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” from 1976’s Agents of Fortune\, the pummeling “Godzilla” from 1977’s Spectres and the hypnotically melodic “Burnin’ for You” from 1981’s Fire of Unknown Origin. Other notable BÖC songs include “Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll\,” “Then Came the Last Days of May\,” “I Love the Night\,” “In Thee\,” “Veteran of the Psychic Wars\,” “Dominance and Submission\,” “Astronomy\,” “Black Blade\,” and “Shooting Shark.” \nThe intense creative vision of BÖC’s original core duo of vocalist/lead guitarist Donald “Buck Dharma” Roeser\, and vocalist/rhythm guitarist Eric Bloom are complemented by Richie Castellano on guitar and keyboards\, and the longtime rhythm section of bass guitarist Danny Miranda\, and drummer Jules Radino. \nWe realized we’re a “classic rock” band. That’s what we are\, that’s what we do best\, and that’s what we know. The band members are proud of BÖC’s classic sound\, and pleased the band is creating vibrant work for disenfranchised music lovers who don’t like the homogenized\, prefabricated pop or sound-alike\, formulaic rap-metal\, which monopolizes the radio airwaves and best-seller charts. \nBÖC has always maintained a relentless touring schedule and an album of new material THE SYMBOL REMAINS was released October 9th\, 2020 to rave reviews. \nWilliam Matheny\nWilliam Matheny may be the best songwriter working\, and is at a minimum the best songwriter you might have never heard of. For those who haven’t had that good fortune\, let’s go\, as Warner Wolfe used to say\, to the videotape. Consider his 2018 standout single “Christian Name\,” which is like Tom Petty’s “Runnin’ Down A Dream” if it had been “Runnin’ Down A Nightmare.” Or reckon with “Living Half to Death\,” the comically terrifying instant classic from 2017’s Strange Constellations in which he apologizes for “abusing all his friendships and drinking all their beer.” \nOver the past four years\, he has assembled a wondrous catalog which situates itself amongst the indelible tradition of roots-rock misfits like Guy Clark and Lowell George\, with just enough Jackson Browne-craft and Springsteen-triumphalism to make the thing potentially huge. You can’t talk about Matheny without talking about West Virginia\, although it is sometimes true that he would prefer not to discuss it. Matheny is from Mannington\, population smaller than your average small town. Like most of the state\, Mannington fought on the side of the Union in the Civil War and represented a crucial strategic stronghold as one of the stops on the B&O Railroad. The correct side\, not that it helped all that much. They say history is written by the winners\, but in spite of upholding the Union\, history was not written by Mannington. Heavy industry: logging and coal. An oil boom in the 1910s. Comfortable lives and then the Great Depression. Bankers and foreclosures. History was written by Mannington and then history was written on Mannington. That grand old feeling\, indeed. \nAnd while he might not always want to talk about it\, West Virginia is a central character in Matheny’s songs. The dirty snow falling on the Coffindaffer Crosses\, the Moundsville guards\, the doomed shout-outs to Stoney Cooper\, the unhappily married lovers at the Elks Lodge and the tapes from Go-Mart melting on the dashboard all enforce the notion that the man can travel wide and far from Mannington\, but Mannington never leaves the man. Like so many before him — Elvis from Tupelo or the Mekons from Leeds — he can check out any time he likes. But he can never et cetera\, et cetera. The group now includes Jeff Hanna (acoustic guitar\, electric guitar)\, Jimmie Fadden (drums\, harmonica)\, Bob Carpenter (keyboards)\, Jim Photoglo (bass\, acoustic guitar)\, Ross Holmes (fiddle\, mandolin)\, and Jaime Hanna (electric and acoustic guitar). All six members also sing\, and when their voices merge\, the harmonies add a powerful new component for the legendary band. And with the father-son pairing of Jeff and Jaime Hanna\, the band carries on a country music tradition of blood harmony. \nJeff Hanna says\, “It’s like when you throw a couple of puppies into a pen with a bunch of old dogs. All of a sudden\, the old dogs start playing\, you know? That’s kind of what’s happened with us. The basic vibe is so up and positive\, and the music– we’re hearing surprises from Jaime and Ross all night. And they’re encouraging us in the same way to take more chances. It’s opened a lot of doors for us\, musically\, and the morale is really great. That’s important for a band that’s been out there for over 53 years.” \nThe Nitty Gritty Dirt Band played their first gig in 1966 in Southern California as a jug band and by 1969 had become a cornerstone of the burgeoning country-rock community. Their career breakthrough came in 1970 with the release of the record Uncle Charlie & His Dog Teddy and the single “Mr. Bojangles\,” a folksy Top 10 pop hit that remains a staple of their live show. During a tour stop in Nashville around that time\, Earl Scruggs and his family came backstage to say hello. That introduction led to a friendship and some of the connections the band needed to record Will the Circle Be Unbroken. That three-disc album brought Nitty Gritty Dirt Band together with a number of country\, folk\, and bluegrass legends. Heroes like Roy Acuff\, Mother Maybelle Carter\, Jimmy Martin\, Merle Travis\, and Doc Watson joined the scruffy\, young band to record country music standards such as “I Saw the Light” and “Keep on the Sunnyside.” The acclaimed project is considered a landmark recording in American music. \nNitty Gritty Dirt Band earned a pop resurgence in 1980 with “An American Dream” and “Make a Little Magic.” Those singles also found traction on the country chart\, setting the stage for a major run at country radio. The band secured 16 Top 10 country hits between 1983 and 1990\, including three No. 1 singles: “Long Hard Road (The Sharecropper’s Dream)\,” “Modern Day Romance\,” and “Fishin’ in the Dark.” Bernie Leadon\, a founding member of The Eagles\, played in the band from 1986 to 1988 filling a vacancy by longtime member John McEuen. \nWith so much material to work with\, the band is making it a point to shuffle the set lists more often\, meaning that this isn’t the same Dirt Band show from years past. “We’re fortunate that we’ve got a deep songbook. That’s been on our list\, to resurrect some of the tunes we haven’t done in a while\, in addition to some new stuff\,” Hanna says. \nAt the peak of their country career\, the band toured Europe with Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash\, who hinted that they’d love to appear on a sequel to Will the Circle Be Unbroken\, if the band ever decided to make one. That gesture convinced the band to get back in the studio to record another all-star album. Circle Volume II featured Johnny and June\, as well as Rosanne Cash\, Emmylou Harris\, Levon Helm\, John Hiatt\, Bruce Hornsby\, John Denver\, Ricky Skaggs\, New Grass Revival\, and many other marquee names – not to mention encore performances by Roy Acuff\, Jimmy Martin\, and Earl Scruggs. Released in 1989\, the album won three Grammys and a CMA Award for Album of the Year. \nAs the country music landscape shifted toward a youth market\, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band kept on touring and recording. They played on two projects by The Chieftains\, cut a song with Karla Bonoff for an album dedicated to the 1996 Olympics\, and contributed “Maybe Baby” to a Buddy Holly tribute\, Not Fade Away. Another collaborative album\, Will the Circle Be Unbroken\, Volume III\, arrived in 2003. Soon after\, the band earned an additional Grammy for “Earl’s Breakdown\,” which they recorded with Earl Scruggs\, Randy Scruggs\, Vassar Clements and Jerry Douglas. Meanwhile\, both “Mr. Bojangles” and Will the Circle Be Unbroken were inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. \nThe Nitty Gritty Dirt Band took a moment to acknowledge their incredible history by filming a 50th anniversary concert event at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Guests for that Circlin’ Back special included early Dirt Band member Jackson Browne\, Sam Bush\, Rodney Crowell\, Vince Gill\, Alison Krauss\, John Prine\, Jerry Douglas\, Byron House\, Jerry Jeff Walker\, and longtime Dirt Band member Jimmy Ibbotson. The concert aired as a nation-wide PBS Pledge special in 2016 and won a regional Emmy for Special Event Coverage. Today\, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band consists of Jeff Hanna\, Jimmie Fadden\, Bob Carpenter\, for years known as “the new guy\,” and Jim Photoglo\, a friend of the band whose credits include cowriting “Fishin’ in the Dark”\, as well as touring and recording with Carole King\, Dan Fogelberg\, and Vince Gill. Newest members Jaime Hanna and Ross Holmes also bring years of experience to the band. Hanna toured and recorded with The Mavericks and Gary Allan\, while Holmes toured and recorded with Mumford & Sons and Bruce Hornsby. \n“The energy these days is so up — and our fans have responded in a really great way\,” Hanna says. “As a fan of other bands\, I know how complicated it can be when members come and go. You can either embrace that or you don’t. Our fans are really gracious and I appreciate that. It’s been a really good run and there’s a lot of daylight ahead of us.” \n  \nMegan Bee\nSinger-songwriter Megan Bee writes with an unquenchable wanderlust and a deep love for the land. Her fourth studio album “Cottonwood” has been called “as real as it gets – a raw and real telling of engaging\, relatable stories.” Based in Athens\, Ohio and frequently roaming the country\, her music is influenced by the collision of Appalachian folk and modern songwriting. She is a blend of distinctly homespun vocals\, acoustic simplicity\, yearning soulfulness\, and winsome storytelling. DESCRIPTION:The Eagles founding member\, the late Glenn Frey\, knew what he was saying when he dubbed Little River Band “the best singing band in the world.” The current lineup of LRB takes that accolade to heart each and every time they perform. \nThrough the ‘70’s and ‘80’s\, LRB enjoyed huge chart success with multi-platinum albums and chart topping hits like: \n\n“Reminiscing\,” “Cool Change\,” “Lonesome Loser\,” “The Night Owls\,” “Take It Easy On Me\,” “Help Is on Its Way\,” “Happy Anniversary\,”  “We Two\,” “Man On Your Mind\,” “The Other Guy\,” and “It’s A Long Way There.” \nWorldwide album and CD sales now top 30 million. And in 1982 LRB set a record for having had Top 10 hits for 6 consecutive years – In fact\, they were the very first band to achieve that remarkable plateau! According to BMI\, “Reminiscing” has garnered rare status with over 5 million air plays on American radio\, and “Lady” is close behind with over 4 million air plays. \nBassist/vocalist Wayne Nelson joined the band in 1980\, and worked alongside founding members with some of the most distinctive harmonies and vocal abilities\, creating the unique LRB sound. In 1981\, Nelson was recognized by world renowned Beatles producer Sir George Martin whom\, while producing ‘Time Exposure’\, chose Nelson to record lead vocals on two of the band’s biggest hits\, “The Night Owls” and “Take It Easy On Me.” Later that same year\, guitarist extraordinaire Stephen Housden joined LRB bringing a rock element into the band’s sound and helped contribute to their string of Top 10 hits. As band members departed one by one\, Housden and Nelson worked together to bring LRB into the new millennium.    \nTo date\, Nelson’s vocal and bass guitar talents are included on 23 Little River Band Albums/CD’s.  Although Housden has retired from touring\, LRB continues to perform to sold out audiences\, and Stephen continues to write and participate in all things Little River Band.  \nIn 2004 LRB was inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association Hall of Fame at the 18th Annual ARIA Music Awards. And in September 2015\, the band was awarded Casino Entertainer of the Year at the G2E Gaming Expo in Las Vegas Nevada.  \nTurning the page brings us to the current lineup of Little River Band…  \nKeyboardist Chris Marion is a Dove Award winning producer. Chris is the creator of all the orchestral arrangements and charts on The Big Box. It is amazing to watch him play\, sing\, and conduct from his riser!  \nLead Guitarist Rich Herring is a highly skilled player\, singer\, and producer of many Nashville artists…not to mention a great songwriter. He and Wayne have co-produced every LRB project since he joined the band.  \nDrummer Ryan Ricks has locked down the rhythm section\, and rounds out the vocals with his incredible range. Great singing drummers are rare…and LRB is lucky to have Ryan as part of that all-important vocal blend.  \nNashville Guitarist Colin Whinnery plays rhythm and lead guitar\, and shares lead vocal duties with Wayne. He brings a brand new voice and a fresh outlook to the rhythm section.  \nEarly 2014 saw the release of Little River Band’s\, ‘Cuts Like a Diamond\,’ on Frontiers Records.  “What If You’re Wrong\,” went to #1 and stayed there for 3 weeks says Jim Shoe of CLASSX Radio.  “Forever You\, Forever Me\,” and “You Dream\, I’ll Drive\,” both climbed into the station’s TOP 3.   \nIn November of 2016\, LRB released\, ‘The Hits…Revisited\,’ on Wurld Records –  a CD consisting of 9 re-recorded hits along with 2 new songs\, written by Wayne\, Chris\, and Rich.   Kris Kristofferson attended one of their concerts in California. He came backstage after the concert and he told LRB that their harmonies are “better than the Beatles.”  \nMay of 2017 brought the release of ‘The Big Box’ –  a box set consisting of 6 disc’s and featuring a DVD with live footage from their 40th Anniversary Tour. \nIn 2020\, lead singer and bass player Wayne Nelson celebrated a personal and professional milestone of being a member of Little River Band for 40 years. That makes Wayne Nelson the longest standing member in the history of LRB. In partnership with Time Life\, the band released a “Live” orchestral accompanied CD of the hits called “Black Tie.” This masterpiece of audio golden nuggets continues to thrill and sooth today. \nIn 2021\, the CD Fan Favorites was released to the fans after they voted on their favorite songs from albums released since the year 2000. Who can forget the struggling alcoholic in “Little Rock” or the devoted couple celebrated in “Love\, Me?” On his new album Scars\, Raye is once again wrapping his distinctive voice around a compelling collection of tunes\, but this time in addition to writing nearly every song on the 14-track set\, Raye has also embarked on a new musical direction and has enlisted Miranda Lambert\, Vince Gill and the Black Keys Dan Auerbach to join the journey. \n“I’d thought about doing an Americana record for years because\, to me\, Americana means no rules\,” Raye says. “Americana is kind of country\, kind of bluegrass\, kind of folk\, kind of R&B. It’s a bold musical manifesto that sees the veteran hitmaker delivering an eclectic set filled with memorable stories and engaging melodic textures. “Fergie and I talked about it and I said\, ‘I want it to be just really different. I want there to be songs on there that sound like Collin Raye and what you might expect\, but I want there to be stuff that no one would expect as well\,’” Raye says.  “The more we talked about it\, he said\, ‘I really don’t want to cut anything that you didn’t write.’ And I was like\, ‘Wow! Really?’” \nAs a result\, Raye wrote or co-wrote 12 of the 14 tracks on Scars. There are only two outside cuts and they came from the pen of his brother Scotty Wray (the original spelling of the family surname).  “Most of the stuff I wrote was new\, written just for this record\, and for that reason\, I’m extremely proud of it because it’s very personal to me\,” says the 10-time Male Vocalist of the Year nominee (ACM and CMA). “Instead of just being the singer of someone else’s words\, I’m the singer of my own words. I’ve always liked writing\, but I was never prolific. I was never one of those guys who wrote two or three times a week.  If you look at my Sony albums\, I would always have one or two cuts on there\, but I never wrote half or more of an album so this was a definite turn for me. I had to really work for this\, roll my sleeves up and prove to myself that I’m a good writer. I’m really happy with it. This was such a fun record to make and I’ve never felt so creative on any album.” \nThat is saying a lot\, considering Raye has already amassed an impressive body of work. Since signing with Epic Records in 1990\, Raye has placed more than 30 singles on the chart\, including such No. 1 hits as “Love\, Me\, “In This Life\,” “My Kind of Girl” and “I Can Still Feel You.” His debut album\, All I Can Be\, was the first of four consecutive albums released by Raye to achieve platinum certification in the United States\, signifying sales of one million copies each. “Little Red Rodeo\,” “That’s My Story\,” “I Think About You\,” “One Boy\, One Girl” and “Not That Different” are among the hits that have kept him busy on the road. \nProceeds from this concert will benefit Washington County foster children and foster parents.\n“Our vision for this benefit concert is to assist foster parents by providing funding to be used for normal childhood activities not covered by county funds\, in hopes of enhancing these children’s lives.” \n“Foster/adoptive caregivers are concerned individuals who are dedicated to providing the needs of Washington County’s children whose lives have been disrupted due to abuse and neglect. Since the days when “Life’s A Dance” turned him from an unknown artist into a national star\, John Michael’s rich baritone has carried that most important of assets: believability. Few artists in any genre sing with more heart than this handsome Kentucky-born artist. \nIt is readily apparent in love songs that have helped set the standard for a generation. He was born in Danville\, Kentucky\, to parents who imparted a lifelong love of music. “Where most people have chairs and sofas in their living rooms\,” laughs John Michael\, “we had amplifiers and drum kits.” \nThe family band played on weekends throughout the area\, and John Michael and his brother Eddie eagerly soaked up everything about it. \n“To a certain extent\,” he says\, “my dad always had a natural ability to draw fans and entertain people; I don’t care if it was on the front porch\, the living room\, or on a stage. I think that transitioned to me and my brother being able to do that on stage.” John Michael took over lead singing chores after his parents divorced\, and he performed for a while in a band called Early Tymz with Eddie and their friend Troy Gentry. Nashville talent scouts began hearing about and then seeing John Michael perform and by the early ’90s he had a record deal. \nThe hits followed steadily\, with songs like “Rope The Moon\,” “If You’ve Got Love\,” “No Man’s Land\,” “Cowboy Love\,” “As Long As I Live\,” “Friends” and “How Was I To Know” establishing him as one of the elite acts of the era. He received the CMA Horizon award and was named the ACM’s Top New Vocalist\, setting off a long series of awards that included the CMA’s Single and Song of the Year\, Billboard’s Top Country Artist\, and a Grammy nomination. That means indie rock band Red Wanting Blue is rare indeed. DESCRIPTION:Featuring special guest vocalist Meredith Dean Augustin\n2015 West Virginia Music Hall inductee Bob Thompson is perhaps the state’s best-loved musician and ambassador of jazz. He has touched many people’s lives both as an internationally known entertainer and a teacher. \nGrowing up in NY\, he sang in street corner doo-wop bands and originally attended WVSC on a scholarship to study trumpet and music education. After switching to piano\, he quickly became a staple on the local scene with bands like the Modern Jazz Interpreters and Joi. \nAfter some independent releases\, he signed to Capitol Records subsidiary Intima and later to the Ichiban label. Two of his albums climbed into the Top 25 in Billboard’s contemporary jazz chart while four of his releases made their way into the Top 10 on the Radio and Records jazz chart. Those nationally released works furthered his reputation significantly. \nIn the meantime\, he performed in Brazil\, South Africa and Scandinavia. Appearances on BET\, as the house pianist on the NPR show Mountain Stage\, and several tours abroad have made Thompson a visible presence in the jazz world for more than 40 years. In addition\, for the past two decades Thompson’s annual holiday jazz show Joy to the World has become a regular feature of Public Radio International’s holiday programming. \n \nMeredith Dean Augustin\n“When she sings\, I feel close to God!” These words have been used to describe listening to Meredith. Love flows through her–and her voice touches hearts. A West Virginia girl\, who grew up in Morgantown\, Meredith began playing the piano and singing at a very young age. She describes\, “My mom taught piano lessons while I was in her womb. I think it started there. When I was two\, my mom and dad told me it was time to give up my pacifier\, and I could sing myself to sleep…. I haven’t stopped.” \nAfter completing her Masters of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from West Virginia University\, Meredith’s musical activities began leading her to New York City\, where she eventually made her home. Currently\, she is the Director of Music at the Church of St. Francis of Assisi in midtown Manhattan. Meredith reflects\, “In the last15years\, my job has allowed me to come face to face with so many beautiful people from so many beautiful cultures. It certainly has helped me evolve personally\, as well as musically.” \nA rare artist who appeals to fans of all genres–particularly jazz/world/Christian–Meredith has been blessed to collaborate with musicians from all over the world\, in particular\, Haiti. She has collaborated with many liturgical composers and is featured on records with John Angotti\, Tom Kendiza\, and Chris DeSilva to name a few. Meredith also has released four solo records entitled: What’s Goin’ On\, Deep River\, Come and Go With Me\, and Boundless Mercy. When she is no ton the road presenting workshops and concerts at conferences throughout the country\, Meredith can be found performing quarterly shows in New York City\, selling out jazz clubs such as Club Bonafide\, Gin Fizz\, and the Triad Theatre\, to name a few. In the jazz world she has performed with Etienne Stadwijk\, John Benitez\, Dave Kikoski\, Axel Tosca and many others. From that year through 1999\, E5C4P3 traveled nationwide and paid tribute to one of rock history’s most beloved bands\, performing for tens of thousands of fans. E5C4P3 is still known today as the original and best Journey tribute band to ever exist. In 1999\, E5C4P3 went on hiatus and the world was suddenly filled with multiple Journey tributes trying to fill the void that E5C4P3 left behind. SUMMARY:First Friday: Sour Mash String Band
DESCRIPTION:This free\, DORA-friendly event will be held on Putnam Street in front of Peoples Bank Theatre. \nThe Sour Mash String Band is an Americana Bluegrass band that started in 2015 when surveyor and musician/songwriter Josh Moody (guitar) met up with former WVU football player and musician/songwriter Cody Nutter. They started playing at local venues and open mics. When they were asked to provide a band for a gig\, they called on some musician friends and the chemistry and tunes started flowing effortlessly. It wasn’t long until they were playing all along the WV and Ohio border towns\, bringing their own flavor of bluegrass music everywhere they go. Playing everything from high-energy foot-stomping songs to soulful\, laid-back bluesy numbers\, the Sour Mash String Band brings a unique sound and flavor to their performances. The band is based in the Mid-Ohio Valley with members from various cities up to 2 hours away. \n They have played a variety of fairs\, festivals and venues including  the John Hartford Festival in Indiana \, Millennium Music Conference and Showcase in Harrisburg Pa (where one of their songs was chosen to showcase on the conference CD)\,and Nashville TN where they were interviewed and featured on the Nashville Side Streets Show. Some others are the Sam Jam Preview\, Rudy Fest\, Poston Lake Bluegrass Festival\, The Penny Royal\, and various others in Indiana\, Ohio\, Kentucky\, WV\, and Tennessee. \nThey released their first album “Down the Highway” in May 2016\, recorded at Hilltop Line Studio in KY. It is distributed worldwide and can be found on Apple iTunes\, CD baby\, Spotify\, Amazon\, and YouTube. Their second album Roll Me Away is produced by Bernie Nau at Peachfork Studios and contains many original songs by Josh Moody and Cody Nutter and was  released October 2020. \nThe band consists of 4 members Josh Moody (guitar\, vocals) Cody Nutter (mandolin\, vocals)  Harry Kuhn (upright bass\, vocals) and Mariane Barnett( vocals). All are accomplished musicians that have played with other bands over the years\, some on national stage. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Glenn Miller Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:Glenn Miller disappeared on December 15\, 1944. The bandleader went down over the English Channel on a flight from London to Paris at the height of his popularity. In September 1942\, just prior to going into the army\, he had disbanded his famous orchestra and eventually formed the Glenn Miller Army Air Force Band to entertain the servicemen. \nNot long before he enlisted\, he nosed-out Tommy Dorsey\, the “Best Sweet Band” in the Downbeat poll. His recordings of In The Mood\, Chattanooga Choo Choo\, A String of Pearls\, Moonlight Serenade and Tuxedo Junction were all major hit records. Miller played to sell out crowds\, and his music constantly dominated the airwaves. \nOn December 15\, Major Miller took off in an ancient\, single engine plane to precede his band to Paris. The weather was foreboding. Not very confident\, he said to the pilot\, “Maybe we ought to call this off?”  The flight officer ribbed him about his fear of flying\, “Do you want to live forever?” \nNow\, over sixty years since the public first embraced the successful Miller Sound\, both the legend and the music live on. The Glenn Miller Orchestra is the most sought after big band in the world today for both concert and dance engagements. Still considered the greatest band of all time\, its unique sound is loved by almost anybody that cares for dance music. \nThe Miller Estate formed the present Glenn Miller Orchestra in 1956 following strong popular demand aroused as a result of the successful motion picture\, an immense box office smash\, The Glenn Miller Story\, starring James Stewart and June Allyson.
