This unforgettable event celebrates a film deeply rooted in Marietta’s history—while also marking an exciting milestone: the 10-year reopening anniversary of Peoples Bank Theatre. \nA Premiere That Made History\nWhen Battle Hymn premiered on February 12\, 1957\, Marietta\, Ohio became the center of national attention. The film debuted at the historic Colony Cinema and other local theatres\, drawing an estimated 25\,000 people downtown—a crowd size that remains one of the largest events ever to take place in Marietta. \nMovie star Rock Hudson\, who portrayed the film’s lead character\, Colonel Dean E. Hess\, a U.S. Air Force pilot and Ohio native\, arrived in town for the premiere festivities\, which included a massive parade and a formal premiere ceremony held at Marietta College. The day cemented Marietta’s place in Hollywood history and left a lasting mark on the community that is still remembered nearly seven decades later. \nCLICK HERE TO WATCH THE ORIGINAL BATTLE HYMN PROMO VIDEO \nAbout the Film: Battle Hymn\nOriginal Battle Hymn Premier Program\nReleased in 1957\, Battle Hymn is a powerful war drama inspired by the true story of Colonel Dean E. Hess\, a U.S. Air Force pilot and Ohio native. Its connection to Ohio and its emotional storytelling make it a fitting selection for the Ohio Goes to the Movies initiative\, which celebrates films with meaningful ties to the state. \nEvent Details\nPeople’s Bank Theatre will screen Battle Hymn in its entirety on: \n\nSunday\, March 29\n2:00 PM\nPeoples Bank Theatre\n\nAdmission is free\, with general admission tickets available for reservation at valleylist.xyz/peoplesbanktheatre/. \nRed Carpet & Post-Film Conversation\nThe afternoon will begin with a red carpet experience prior to the screening\, celebrating the glamour and history of the film’s original premiere. SUMMARY:Second Helping- The Original Lynyrd Skynyrd Show
DESCRIPTION:Second Helping: The Original Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute Show is the longest-running national Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute in the world. They are dedicated to bringing Skynyrd music to you as you remember it.\nSecond Helping began in 1988 in Jacksonville\, Florida. Second Helping guitarist Chris McCallister was invited by his friend Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Ed King to a rehearsal at the Lynyrd Skynyrd rehearsal studio located at Larkin Collins’ office. During the rehearsal\, Chris asked the members how long they planned to continue touring. Various Skynyrd members responded\, “Just this year as a tribute to our fans\,” Chris replied\, “What? Someone ought to do a tribute to you guys!” At that point\, some Skynyrd members\, especially Gary Rossington\, laughed. Rossington said to McCallister\, “What\, like Beatlemania?” McCallister was embarrassed because Rossington\, in fun\, began teasing him. McCallister returned home (Clearwater) and started writing a tribute show to honor Lynyrd Skynyrd. The result was the first-ever national tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd. Since 1988\, Second Helping has worked with a few of the Skynyrd guitarists on parts of songs. \nSoon thereafter\, Second Helping began selling out shows statewide in Florida. Second Helping was listed as one of JAM magazine’s top bands in Florida. Booking agent Richard Lustig signed\nthe band around 1989\, and they began touring the United States\, Canada\, and Mexico immediately. The band’s popularity soared after appearing on MTV. The concert was a benefit\nfor Chris Oliva\, former guitarist for Savatage. The band\, by 1989\, had reached national attention and has enjoyed its success ever since. \nIn 2023\, the current Lynyrd Skynyrd lead singer\, Johnny Van Zant\, said\, “I want to wish Second Helping a happy 35 th Anniversary. Thanks for keeping that Skynyrd music alive. You’ve been\ndoing it for a long time. Guys\, we appreciate ya!”\nSecond Helping is more than a tribute band; it showcases classic Skynyrd music. Expect an evening that will bring you back to a time of youth\, fun\, and hope. \n  \n \n  \n\nEnjoy all of our upcoming performances on our new Byrider Stage!

SUMMARY:An Intimate Evening with JJ Grey & Mofro
DESCRIPTION:From his early days playing cover music behind chicken wire at a west side Jacksonville juke joint while still working at a lumberyard\, to playing sold-out shows at some of the largest venues and music festivals in the world\, JJ Grey has always delivered his soul-honest truths. Since his first album\, ‘Blackwater’\, back in 2001\, Grey has been releasing deeply moving\, masterfully written\, funkified rock and front porch Southern soul music.\n\nNow\, with ‘Olustee’ – his tenth album and first in eight years\, and the first he has self-produced – Grey is back\, singing his personal stories with universal themes of redemption\, rebirth\, hard luck\, and inner peace. With his music\, Grey also celebrates good times with friends\, oftentimes mixing the carnal with the cerebral in the very same song. Fueled by his vividly detailed\, timeless original songs spun from his life experiences\, Grey’s gritty baritone drips with honest passion and testifies with a preacher’s foot-pounding fervor. \n  \nWith ‘Olustee’\, JJ Grey has once again pushed the boundaries of his own creative musical\, lyrical and vocal talents\, delivering an instant classic. Many of the songs are steeped in the mythical Southern stories of his ancestral Florida home and filled with people from JJ’s life. The songs are told through the eyes of a poet and sung with pure\, unvarnished soul. Grey’s message is simple and strong – respect the natural world and always try to live in the moment. And never forget the importance of having a good time! \n  \n\nEnjoy all of our upcoming performances on our new Byrider Stage!

SUMMARY:Sierra Hull & The Milk Carton Kids
DESCRIPTION:Sierra Hull is a seven-time IBMA Mandolin Player of the Year\, two-time Grammy nominee\, and one of the most dynamic voices in bluegrass and Americana. Her latest album\, A Tip Toe High Wire\, is her first independent release\, highlighting her songwriting and instrumental mastery with guest appearances by Béla Fleck\, Tim O’Brien\, and Aoife O’Donovan. \nIn a historic first\, Hull became the first female artist to be honored with a Gibson signature mandolin. She also has been honored with the Tennessee Governor’s Distinguished Arts Award. She has shared stages with Alison Krauss\, Eric Clapton\, Sturgill Simpson\, and more\, and performed on NPR’s Tiny Desk and The Kelly Clarkson Show\, bringing her music to audiences nationwide. \n \n  \nCompleting their seventh studio album was a hard-won victory for The Milk Carton Kids\, but I Only See the Moon was worth the effort for Kenneth Pattengale and Joey Ryan. “It feels like returning to something that’s natural and comfortable\, and also just as inspiring and new as when we first met\,” says Pattengale\, who formed The Milk Carton Kids with Ryan in 2011. \nWhat started as a three-week recording session in the fall of 2021\, with Pattengale producing the contemporary folk duo himself for the first time\, stretched into a months- long project that found the pair digging deeper into their craft than ever before. With a new studio of their own in Los Angeles and the realization that they were in no hurry\, The Milk Carton Kids took the time they needed to be fully satisfied with I Only See the Moon. “I haven’t been as happy with the collection of songs that we’ve put on record probably since our first record\, and it’s because of a lot of the lessons we’ve learned over the years\, including giving yourself time and space\,” Ryan says. \nThe three-time Grammy nominees sound refreshed on 10 new songs distilled to the essence of The Milk Carton Kids: two voices blended together in spellbinding harmony\, accompanied by subtly perfect acoustic instrumentation. Turns out that’s a tough sound to get just right\, but I Only See the Moon shows just how much Pattengale and Ryan were willing to work for it. \n \n\n  \n\n\nEnjoy all of our upcoming performances on our new Byrider Stage! \n

SUMMARY:A Christmas Carol
DESCRIPTION:“God Bless Us\, Everyone!” \nThe true spirit of Christmas lives in this heartwarming production of Charles Dicken’s holiday classic. Audiences\, young and old\, will leave the theater enchanted by this timeless tale of the miraculous redemption of Ebenezer Scrooge. Guided by the ghosts of Jacob Marley\, and Christmas Past\, Present and Future\, the world’s most famous miser undergoes a magical\, stirring transformation into a marvelous man of overflowing love\, kindness and generosity. \nCMI Entertainment\, in collaboration with Entertainment Central Productions Orlando\, is proud to present this beloved story in a version that will move every theatergoer with the wonder of its stirring message of goodwill and holiday hope. \nA Christmas Carol was Charles Dicken’s gift to a weary world that had almost forgotten the values of goodness and sharing. SUMMARY:SOLD OUT- Sawyer Brown
DESCRIPTION:  \n \nTHIS SHOW IS SOLD OUT!\nWhen asked what has set Sawyer Brown apart in the music business to account for four decades of success\, lead singer and front man Mark Miller answers\, “One of the unique things about the band is we don’t really have a lot of love songs. We have life songs.” \nYears before The Voice and American Idol\, there was Star Search with Ed McMahon. In the first season\, an eclectic and charismatic country-rock band appeared on the show\, taking America by storm. \nAfter being told no time after time in Nashville showcases\, Sawyer Brown won over millions of fans with their electrifying TV performances week after week in Hollywood. Capturing the hearts of all ages\, their sound was compared to country super-groups like Alabama and Charlie Daniels Band\, but they looked more like the Rolling Stones and Aerosmith. From ignored underdogs in Music City to overnight rock stars from LA to New York\, they swept the competition and won. \nRiding on the wave of sudden TV popularity\, the band spent their first year-and-a-half on the road with country and pop icon Kenny Rogers\, opening his shows in arenas across the U.S.\, all while learning from the best. \nFrom there\, Sawyer Brown began to quickly carve out their own niche\, delivering hit after hit\, selling out venues\, and constantly wowing an ever-growing fanbase. Navigating the music business on their own terms\, the band blazed a new trail through uncharted territory to constantly beat the odds and win the day in the volatile world of the entertainment industry. \nSince 1984\, the band’s high-energy reputation\, uncompromising dedication to their fans\, along with their relentless drive to stay true to themselves have never wavered. For the past forty years\, “the boys” legendary live shows have captivated audiences with no signs of ever slowing down. \nToday\, Sawyer Brown just keeps on delivering their unapologetically blue-collar\, grass-roots message through music. One of their fan-favorite songs says it all. “They were searchin’ for stars when we came along\, it was rock ‘n’ roll in a country song\, there were five of us thinking that we can\, this is the life and times of a travelin’ band.” \n  \nEnjoy all of our upcoming performances on our new Byrider Stage!
