DESCRIPTION:Bob Thompson Presented By The Stage Door’s Listening Room Series\nWV Music Hall of Fame Inductee heard weekly on Mountain Stage Radio Show. \nThe Stage Door’s Listening Room Series is proud to present Bob Thompson in a very intimate setting. \nMoving to West Virginia in the mid-’60s to attend then West Virginia State College\, pianist Bob Thompson is perhaps the state’s best-loved musician and ambassador of jazz. He has touched many people’s lives both as an entertainer and a teacher. \nGrowing up in NY\, he sang in street corner doo-wop bands and originally attended WVSC on a scholarship to study trumpet and music education. After switching to piano\, he quickly became a staple on the local scene with bands like the Modern Jazz Interpreters and Joi. \nAfter some independent releases\, he signed to Capitol Records subsidiary Intima and later to the Ichiban label. Two of his albums climbed into the Top 25 in Billboard’s contemporary jazz chart while four of his releases made their way into the Top 10 on the Radio and Records jazz chart. Those nationally released works furthered his reputation significantly. \nIn the meantime\, he performed in Brazil\, South Africa and Scandinavia. Appearances on BET\, as the house pianist on the NPR show Mountain Stage\, and several tours abroad have made Thompson a visible presence in the jazz world for more than 40 years. In addition\, for the past decade Thompson’s annual holiday jazz show ‘Joy to the World’\, has become a regular feature of Public Radio International’s holiday programming.

Anderson was the author and a major creative influence behind the ground-breaking album “Fragile” as well as the series of epic\, complex pieces such as “Awaken”\, “Gates of Delirium” and especially “Close to the Edge” which were central to the band’s success. Additionally\, Anderson co-authored the group’s biggest hits\, including “I’ve Seen All Good People”\, “Roundabout”\, and “Owner Of A Lonely Heart”. If you asked Jon\, he would say that he loves the adventure in making music\, as evidenced in 50 years of success in the music business\, working not only with many variations of Yes\, but also with very successful collaborations with Vangelis and Kitaro\, and more recently with Roine Stolt and Jean-Luc Ponty. His collaboration with Vangelis produced a number of hit records\, including “Friends of Mr Cairo” which was groundbreaking in its use of narrative voiceover\, creating a phenomena that was copied by many artists and producers\, most notably Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones with “Thriller”. As Jon would say\, “We all copy each others musical dreams\, it’s the cross-pollenation of music that keeps the world spinning around”. \n \nIn the mid 70s he created a pure solo album\, in every sense of the word: performing all the music\, playing every instrument\, writing a storyline\, and of course singing all the vocals in the critically acclaimed “Olias of Sunhillow”… a milestone in recording and adventurous creativity. You only need to look at his output of solo albums over the years to see how inventive his life in music has been\, from “Animation” to “Song of Seven”\, “Three Ships” to “Toltec”\, “City of Angels” to “The More You Know”\, to name just a few. All of these albums marked his own progression and adventure through music…leading up to 2009 following his near death\, the release of the life affirming album “Survival and Other Stories”. \nIn 2015\, Jon partnered with his dear friend\, world renowned jazz violinist Jean Luc Ponty\, creating a wonderful fusion of jazz and progressive rock in the album “Better Late than Never”. In 2016\, Jon joined forces with well known prog rock guitarist and producer Roine Stolt\, to create “Invention of Knowledge”\, an album with reached great acclaim with critics and fans alike. Along his way Aladdin seeks answers and advice from wise Genies\, a powerful Sultan\, and his own Mother to find a way to meet the Princess. However\, even with the lamp in hand\, Aladdin will have to learn that it takes more than a wish to make a good impression. Full of memorable characters\, from lost Penguins to talking Palm Trees\, this is an adventure worthy of 1\,001 laughs. \nThe Missoula Children’s Theatre is a non-profit organization based in Missoula\, Montana. Hitchhiking across the country exposed Crockett to the street life at a young age\, following in the footsteps of his relative\, American folk hero Davy Crockett\, who also lived a wild life on the American frontier. After train hopping across the country\, singing on the streets for change in New Orleans’ French Quarter\, busking in New York City and performing across Texas and Northern California\, Crockett set off to travel the world and lived on the streets of Paris for nearly a year before searching for home in Spain\, Morocco\, and Northern Africa. \nThe blues artist returned home to Texas and released his debut solo album titled A Stolen Jewel in 2015\, receiving critical acclaim in Dallas and ultimately landing him a Dallas Observer Music Award that year for “Best Blues Act”. A record “rich with Southern flavor\, a musical gumbo of Delta blues\, honky-tonk\, gospel and Cajun jazz\,” Jewel proved that Crockett\, born into poverty in the Rio Grande\, had come home to make his musical mark on the South. Crockett\, who is self-described as elusive\, rebellious and self-taught\, has been compared to legends like Bill Withers\, Merle Haggard\, and Gary Clark Jr. \nHe released his sophomore record In The Night\, an admirable nod to his Texas country and Louisiana blues roots\, on June 4 and ended 2016 having played over 125 shows. “In the Night” and Crockett’s song “I Am Not Afraid” received international recognition from top tastemakers after being picked by NPR Music as one of the “Top 10 Songs Public Radio Can’t Stop Playing” and selected by David Dye to be featured on World Cafe in late July. DESCRIPTION:Dionne Warwick is a six-time Grammy Award-winning music legend who has earned more than 75 charted hit songs and sold over 100 million records. She was discovered by Burt Bacharach and Hal David in 1961\, and went on to record 18 consecutive Top 100 singles (“Don’t Make Me Over\,” Walk on By\,” “Say a Little Prayer\,” “A House is Not a Home\,” “Alfie\,” “Heartbreaker\,” “Déjà Vu\,” among countless others). She received her first Grammy in 1968 for “Do You Know the Way to San Jose?”. SUMMARY:Sam Bush
DESCRIPTION:With special guest JD Hutchison to open\nThere was only one prize-winning teenager carrying stones big enough to say thanks\, but no thanks to Roy Acuff. Only one son of Kentucky finding a light of inspiration from Bill Monroe and his Blue Grass Boys and catching a fire from Bob Marley and The Wailers. Only one progressive hippie allying with like-minded conspirators\, rolling out the New Grass revolution\, and then leaving the genre’s torch-bearing band behind as it reached its commercial peak. \nThere is only one consensus pick of peers and predecessors\, of the traditionalists\, the rebels\, and the next gen devotees. Music’s ultimate inside outsider. Or is it outside insider? There is only one Sam Bush. \n \nOn a Bowling Green\, Kentucky cattle farm in the post-war 1950s\, Bush grew up an only son\, and with four sisters. His love of music came immediately\, encouraged by his parents’ record collection and\, particularly\, by his father Charlie\, a fiddler\, who organized local jams. Charlie envisioned his son someday a staff fiddler at the Grand Ole Opry\, but a clear day’s signal from Nashville brought to Bush’s television screen a tow-headed boy named Ricky Skaggs playing mandolin with Flatt and Scruggs\, and an epiphany for Bush. At 11\, he purchased his first mandolin. \nAs a teen fiddler Bush was a three-time national champion in the junior division of the National Oldtime Fiddler’s Contest. He recorded an instrumental album\, Poor Richard’s Almanac as a high school senior and in the spring of 1970 attended the Fiddlers Convention in Union Grove\, NC. There he heard the New Deal String Band\, taking notice of their rock-inspired brand of progressive bluegrass. \n \nAcuff offered him a spot in his band. Bush politely turned down the country titan. It was not the music he wanted to play. He admired the grace of Flatt & Scruggs\, loved Bill Monroe- even saw him perform at the Ryman- but he’d discovered electrified alternatives to tradition in the Osborne Brothers and manifest destiny in The Dillards. \nSee the photo of a fresh-faced Sam Bush in his shiny blue high school graduation gown\, circa 1970. Tufts of blonde hair breaking free of the borders of his squared cap\, Bush is smiling\, flanked by his proud parents. The next day he was gone\, bound for Los Angeles. He got as far as his nerve would take him- Las Vegas- then doubled back to Bowling Green. \n“I started working at the Holiday Inn as a busboy\,” Bush recalls. “Ebo Walker and Lonnie Peerce came in one night asking if I wanted to come to Louisville and play five nights a week with the Bluegrass Alliance. That was a big\, ol’ ‘Hell yes\, let’s go.'” \nBush played guitar in the group\, then began playing after recruiting guitarist Tony Rice to the fold. Following a fallout with Peerce in 1971\, Bush and his Alliance mates- Walker\, Courtney Johnson\, and Curtis Burch- formed the New Grass Revival\, issuing the band’s debut\, New Grass Revival. Walker left soon after\, replaced temporarily by Butch Robins\, with the quartet solidifying around the arrival of bassist John Cowan. \n“There were already people that had deviated from Bill Monroe’s style of bluegrass\,” Bush explains. “If anything\, we were reviving a newgrass style that had already been started. Our kind of music tended to come from the idea of long jams and rock-&-roll songs.” \nShunned by some traditionalists\, New Grass Revival played bluegrass fests slotted in late-night sets for the “long-hairs and hippies.” Quickly becoming a favorite of rock audiences\, they garnered the attention of Leon Russell\, one of the era’s most popular artists. Russell hired New Grass as his supporting act on a massive tour in 1973 that put the band nightly in front of tens of thousands. \nAt tour’s end\, it was back to headlining six nights a week at an Indiana pizza joint. But\, they were resilient\, grinding it out on the road. And in 1975 the Revival first played Telluride\, Colorado\, forming a connection with the region and its fans that has prospered for 45 years. \nBush was the newgrass commando\, incorporating a variety of genres into the repertoire. He discovered a sibling similarity with the reggae rhythms of Marley and The Wailers\, and\, accordingly\, developed an ear-turning original style of mandolin playing. The group issued five albums in their first seven years\, and in 1979 became Russell’s backing band. By 1981\, Johnson and Burch left the group\, replaced by banjoist Bela Fleck and guitarist Pat Flynn. \nA three-record contract with Capitol Records and a conscious turn to the country market took the Revival to new commercial heights. Bush survived a life-threatening bout with cancer\, and returned to the group that’d become more popular than ever. They released chart-climbing singles\, made videos\, earned Grammy nominations\, and\, at their zenith\, called it quits. \n“We were on the verge of getting bigger\,” recalls Bush. “Or maybe we’d gone as far as we could. I’d spent 18 years in a four-piece partnership. I needed a break. But\, I appreciated the 18 years we had.” \nBush worked the next five years with Emmylou Harris’ Nash Ramblers\, then a stint with Lyle Lovett. He took home three-straight IBMA Mandolin Player of the Year awards\, 1990-92\, (and a fourth in 2007). In 1995 he reunited with Fleck\, now a burgeoning superstar\, and toured with the Flecktones\, reigniting his penchant for improvisation. Then\, finally\, after a quarter-century of making music with New Grass Revival and collaborating with other bands\, Sam Bush went solo. \nHe’s released seven albums and a live DVD over the past two decades. In 2009\, the Americana Music Association awarded Bush the Lifetime Achievement Award for Instrumentalist. Punch Brothers\, Steep Canyon Rangers\, and Greensky Bluegrass are just a few present-day bluegrass vanguards among so many musicians he’s influenced. His performances are annual highlights of the festival circuit\, with Bush’s joyous perennial appearances at the town’s famed bluegrass fest earning him the title\, “King of Telluride.” \n“With this band I have now I am free to try anything. Looking back at the last 50 years of playing newgrass\, with the elements of jazz improvisation and rock-&-roll\, jamming\, playing with New Grass Revival\, Leon\, and Emmylou; it’s a culmination of all of that\,” says Bush. “I can unapologetically stand onstage and feel I’m representing those songs well.” \nJD Hutchison\n \nJ.D. Hutchison is a native of the Appalachian region of southeastern Ohio. He was born\, the second of four sons to John Williams and Emma Jane Harper Hutchison\, in a tiny three-room house located one mile west of the town square in the village of Barnesville. His was a musical family. His father was a well-known guitarist and fiddler in the community; he often appeared with his wife (J.D.’s mother) as a singing duo at public functions in the area. There seemed to be an unfailing congregation of local players nearby every week at someone-or-another’s house where a plentiful table would be at the ready and music would prevail until all were played out. Only 50 general admission tickets will be sold. \n  \nCraig Heath\n \nCraig S. Heath is a four-time Ohio Music Awards winner based in the Hocking Hills region of southeastern Ohio. Craig has made multiple appearances at the renowned Bluebird Cafe in Nashville\, TN and has also been a featured performer on the PBS national broadcast of Songs at the Center.  His music has been heard on television shows like Broad & High as well as documentaries and films. His songs have also been featured on NPR’s “Crossing Boundaries”. He has toured/performed in 30 states\, Ireland\, and England as well as the African continent. He has opened for the likes of Livingston Taylor\, Joe Crookston\, and Jill Andrews and is a three-time winner of the Columbus Songwriters Association showcase. His recording career began in 2006 with “Fate of Foreigners”\, a full-length CD that signaled his arrival on the songwriting scene.  Other projects include “Big Green Mountain” and “Celtic Ballads” as well as collaborative projects like “The Great Divide” and “Simple Song”.  He has begun work on the 2019 release “Wayward Son”\, which promises to be his most personal project to date. \nEric Gnezda\n \nSinger-Songwriter Eric Gnezda is creator and host of the American Public Television series\, Songs at the Center\, airing on more than 300 stations coast to coast. A regular performer at Nashville’s Bluebird Café\, Eric is a recipient of the Ohioana Citation for Music Composition\, joining Michael Feinstein (American Songbook)\, Jorma Kaukonen (Jefferson Airplane)\, and Chip Davis (Mannheim Steamroller). An Emmy-nominated TV journalist\, Eric has seen success with a wide range of songwriting styles – from inspirational anthems\, to country\, to comedy. Eric and his work have been featured on media around the globe\, including ESPN\, Entertainment Tonight\, and NPR (Car Talk\, and All Things Considered). His latest single\, “Separation\,” was named one of the Top 25 Songs of 2018 by Detroit Radio’s Phil Maq\, of WFHR-FM. \nJohn Walsh\n \nA well-known Mid-Ohio Valley musician\, John Walsh’s songwriting has been described as “intensely personal\,” “he sang what I wanted to say…” and\, “the lyrics read like a painting…”  Both an artist and facilitator of the arts in the MOV\, Walsh currently serves as a board member of the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame; formerly served on the Hippodrome/Colony Historic Theatre Association board; and\, was instrumental in the development and opening of The Adelphia Music Hall. In 2013\, John released The Fields of Gettysburg to coincide with the sesquicentennial anniversary of Gettysburg.  John’s all original song cycle brought real historical characters to life\, enabling the listener to get to know people of the day on a personal level.  The record\, co-produced by Parkersburg singer/songwriter\, Todd Burge\, brought together an impressive ensemble of musicians\, including Mountain Stage’s Larry Groce and Michael Lipton\, two-time Grammy winner Tim O’Brien\, Jessica Baldwin\, Colton Pack and Justin Arthur.  Met with wide critical acclaim\, The Fields of Gettysburg was featured on NPR’s Mountain Stage and at The Gettysburg National Park’s Museum Gift Store.  The album is currently available at Tamarack’s “The Best of West Virginia.”

SUMMARY:Creature from the Black Lagoon
DESCRIPTION:Presented by the Marietta High School Class of 1954 \nLove is strange. Especially when the monstrosity known as the Gill-Man falls hard for Kay (Julia Adams) while she’s on a geology expedition in the Amazon! After changing the world ten times over with movies like DRACULA\, FRANKENSTEIN\, and THE WOLF MAN\, Universal took inspiration from real-life prehistoric beasts for the iconic CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON. And horror history was ever the same again. Confidently directed by sci-fi maestro Jack Arnold (TARANTULA) and featuring gorgeous creature designs by Milicent Patrick\, it’s not surprising that Guillermo del Toro once referred to this movie as\, “the most beautiful I’ve ever seen.” \nCREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON has its roots\, of all places\, at a party hosted by Orson Wells. Producer William Alland was engaging in some small talk when he met a cinematographer who claimed to have seen photographic evidence of a fish-man that lived in the Amazon. Alland\, looking for a new project to develop at Universal\, took this story – Amazon fish-man seeks the yearly sacrifice of a beautiful young woman – and immediately knew what to do with it: he would remake KING KONG! Yes\, Alland’s original vision for the movie skewed very closely to the story of KING KONG. Scientists would capture the gill-man through the use of live bait (a beautiful woman\, naturally) and take it back to civilization where it would rampage before eventually being killed due to its love for a woman that it could never know. In fact\, if you watch CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON and REVENGE OF THE CREATURE back-to-back\, you get the story of KING KONG in almost its entirety. \nWhen it came time to film the movie\, CREATURE was shot simultaneously on the Universal back lot (everything in the film that takes place above sea is on a stage) and in Florida for the undersea scenes. Two individuals played the Gill-Man – Ben Chapman played the creature when it was on land (his feet were weighed down with lead in order to give the creature a shuffling walk) and Ricou Browning played the creature for the underwater scenes. Browning was a cave diver who helped give Arnold a tour of Florida during location scouting. His landing of the Gill-man role was completely by chance. It led to a fruitful career in Hollywood\, though. Among Browning’s later contributions to Hollywood would be creating the show FLIPPER. \nOne of the more interesting aspects of CREATURE OF THE BLACK LAGOON is the fact that it cast a scientist as the film’s hero. You have to remember that in the early part of the ‘50s\, scientists were more often than not cast as the villain. If a character was a scientist\, he was usually insane\, bent on world domination or just generally up to no good. CREATURE is remarkable in Richard Carlson’s portrayal of Dr. David Reed as an adventurous\, buff and heroic scientist. Essentially this was the same role he played in IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE – meaning Carlson\, Alland and Arnold are all partially to thank for the modern depiction of the hero scientist. \nAny talk about CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON would be incomplete without mention of Millicent Patrick. The design of the film’s monster was – by most accounts – a collaborative process. While Bud Westmore\, Universal’s head of the makeup department\,  would seek sole credit for the design of the Creature\, people who worked on the film describe Westmore’s involvement as strictly limited. Millicent Patrick\, a beautiful young woman who dabbled in such areas as design\, modeling\, animation and acting\, is said to have been the one to truly help finalize the look of the Creature as we know him today. When Westmore felt that she was getting too much credit in the press\, though\, he had her blackballed and – for all intents and purposes – drove her out of the design business. While Patrick would continue to act\, she never again contributed to a film’s production or costume design. Her fate is still a mystery – nobody quite knows what exactly became of her after she quit acting in the ‘60s. \n

DESCRIPTION:Live at THE STAGE DOOR\nThe Suitcase Junket is Matt Lorenz: artist\, tinkerer\, swamp yankee\, one-man band. His is the road-worn voice rising over the grind of a tube-amped dumpster guitar\, and the wild double pitches of throat singing. From Lorenz’ penchant for thrift and ingenuity comes this full-length Signature Sounds debut of original rock anthems\, mountain ballads\, blues manifestos and dance-hall festivity. It is magnificent\, rousing\, image-driven songwriting\, laid out on instruments built of broken bottles\, thrift store forks\, dried bones\, gas cans\, shoes\, saw blades\, a toy keyboard\, salvaged instruments\, and an overhead compartment’s worth of luggage.  \n \nMatt was raised in Cavendish\, Vermont\, the son of schoolteachers. He learned to sing by copying his sister Kate; the siblings are two-thirds of the touring trio Rusty Belle. Lorenz graduated from Hampshire College in Amherst\, Massachusetts\, in 2004\, having taught himself to throat-sing\, inspired by a South Indian cooking class. On moving day\, he pulled a guitar\, filled with mold and worse for wear\, from a dorm dumpster. He fixed it up and started pulling songs out of it. That was the beginning.    \nSince then\, The Suitcase Junket has built a powerful fan base in his native New England and far beyond. \nThe latest album from The Suitcase Junket\, Mean Dog\, Trampoline is populated by characters in various states of reverie: leaning on jukeboxes\, loitering on dance floors\, lying on the bottoms of empty swimming pools in the sun. Despite being deeply attuned to the chaos of the world\, singer/songwriter/ multi instrumentalist Matt Lorenz imbues those moments with joyful wonder\, an endless infatuation with life’s most subtle mysteries. And as its songs alight on everything from Joan Jett to moonshine to runaway kites\, Mean Dog\, Trampoline makes an undeniable case for infinite curiosity as a potent antidote to jadedness and despair. \nProduced by Steve Berlin (Jackie Greene\, Rickie Lee Jones\, Leo Kottke) of Los Lobos\, Mean Dog\, Trampoline marks a deliberate departure from the self recorded\, homespun approach of The Suitcase Junket’s previous efforts. DESCRIPTION:The Individualist Tour\nPeoples Bank Theatre welcomes legendary songwriter\, musician\, interactive artist\, producer and nominee for the Rock N’ Roll Hall Of Fame\, Todd Rundgren. \nBorn and raised in Philadelphia\, Rundgren began playing guitar as a teenager\, going on to found and front Nazz\, the quintessential `60s psychedelic group. In 1969\, he left the band to pursue a solo career\, recording his debut offering\, Runt. But it was 1972’s seminal Something/Anything?\, on which he played all the instruments\, sang all the vocal parts\, and acted as his own producer\, that catapulted Todd into the superstar limelight\, prompting the press to unanimously dub him ‘Rock’s New Wunderkind’. It was followed by such landmark LPs as The Hermit of Mink Hollow and A Wizard\, A True Star\, as well as such hit singles as I Saw The Light\, Hello It’s Me\, Can We Still Be Friends\, and Bang The Drum. \nRundgren’s myriad production projects include albums by Patti Smith\, Cheap Trick\, the Psychedelic Furs\, Meatloaf\, and XTC. Rounding out his reputation as rock’s renaissance man\, Rundgren composed all the music and lyrics for Joe Papp’s 1989 Off-Broadway production of Joe Orton’s Up Against It (the screenplay was commissioned by the Beatles for what was meant to be their third film). Click here for full details. \nAbout the Book\nAs part of the Treaty of Paris\, in which Great Britain recognized the new United States of America\, Britain ceded the land that comprised the immense Northwest Territory\, a wilderness empire northwest of the Ohio River containing the future states of Ohio\, Indiana\, Illinois\, Michigan\, and Wisconsin. A Massachusetts minister named Manasseh Cutler was instrumental in opening this vast territory to veterans of the Revolutionary War and their families for settlement. Included in the Northwest Ordinance were three remarkable conditions: freedom of religion\, free universal education\, and most importantly\, the prohibition of slavery. In 1788 the first band of pioneers set out from New England for the Northwest Territory under the leadership of Revolutionary War veteran General Rufus Putnam. They settled in what is now Marietta on the banks of the Ohio River. \nMcCullough tells the story through five major characters: Cutler and Putnam; Cutler’s son Ephraim; and two other men\, one a carpenter turned architect\, and the other a physician who became a prominent pioneer in American science. They and their families created a town in a primeval wilderness\, while coping with such frontier realities as floods\, fires\, wolves and bears\, no roads or bridges\, no guarantees of any sort\, all the while negotiating a contentious and sometimes hostile relationship with the native people. DESCRIPTION:Connie Smith is considered by many to be one of the best vocalists in country music history.  “Once a Day\,” “Just in Time\,” “Then and Only Then\,” and “Ain’t Had No Lovin’\,” are just a few of her many hits.  This Country Music Hall of Fame inductee has earned 11 Grammy nominations\, and landed on the Billboard Top Ten country singles charts 20 times. \nA Hall of Fame Lifetime of Singing\nDolly Parton once noted\, famously\, that there were just three real female singers around—Barbra Streisand\, Linda Ronstadt\, and Connie Smith. “The rest of us\,” she said\, “are only pretending.” It’s less-well known that when Connie Smith was introduced to Keith Richards\, he grabbed fellow Connie Smith fan (and Rolling Stone) Ron Wood and brought him up to meet her\, too\, exclaiming “She’s the real deal!” \nWhat the singers she’s been influencing for decades spot in Connie Smith’s performances—besides her genius for phrasing\, perfect diction and a vocal range which have all long been envied—is her fervent joy in singing itself\, her love for the emotional and physical act of letting loose a song\, which is as evident on her recordings as it is in front of audiences at the Grand Ole Opry\, on RFD TV’s weekly Marty Stuart Show\, or on the road. \nIn 2012\, Connie’s singular contributions to country music were recognized conclusively when she received the field’s highest honor\, induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame. I admire her sincerity and her spirit and her commitment to traditional country music. If you’re talking about a country singer\, there just isn’t any better.” \nMerle singled out “Long Line of Heartaches\,” Connie’s most recent recording\, as a special favorite. In recent decades\, the appearance of a new Connie Smith record has been a rare\, much-anticipated event; Long Line of Heartaches on Sugar Hill\, is her first since 1996 and only her second since 1978\, and her 53rd album to date. Still the urge to sing and share the joy she finds in doing it has never waned. \n“I may have put off making a new record for quite a while\,” Connie says\, “but I still love to sing just as much as I ever did. I really feel that it’s my destiny; I heard the saying\, one time\, ‘Do what God tells you ’til he tells you something else\,’ and He hasn’t told me anything else yet. So I think I’ll still be singing till I hear different!” \nWhat she sings on this return to disc is the same broad range of traditional country moods\, themes\, rhythms and sounds that marked her remarkable run of hit records and classic country albums in the 1960s and ’70s. Keeping that music alive\, well and in the public ear was an important motivation in breaking this most recent recording hiatus: \n“I feel so fortunate to have been introduced to Nashville in the early sixties. It was a magical time in country music; country artists were encouraged to bring their individuality and culture to the microphone\, not to back away from them\, and the songwriters of the era were just the best. But I feel that the music as it was has been slipping away—and much\, much faster than I’m ready for. The only thing I know to do about it now is to keep singing what I’ve always loved.” \nConnie has always been the sort of singer who\, much as Frank Sinatra did in saloon singer pop\, emphasizes crediting the writers who created the emotionally direct songs she chooses to sing. Songs by songwriters she’s long favored\, including icons Bill Anderson\, Harlan Howard\, Johnny Russell\, Kostas\, and Dallas Frazier (whose “A Heart Like You” on this record was one of the first he’d written in 30 years\, and the 69th Frazier song Connie’s had on record) are featured on this new release. Her own songwriting\, which had been something she’d found little time for early in her career\, came more to the foreground when she began co-writing with Marty Stuart; five of their collaborations appear on Long Line of Heartaches\, including the title track. \n“I had written a few of the songs I and others had recorded over the years\, but I’d never even begun to think I could write enough to do a whole album. Marty believed I could. We found other good songs\, too; it can be a bad idea to only do your own songs. I don’t cut a song because Bill\, Harlan\, Dallas or I wrote it\, I cut it because I think it’s the best song that I can find at the time.” \n“If I hadn’t had Marty as producer and Mick Conley\, as outr engineer\, working with me\, this record couldn’t have happened like it did. When we got 5 of the songs Marty and I wrote coupled with the 7 great songs from other writers\, we got serious and knew it was time to record. The songs had to come first. Then the work was just a joy. \nA first-time occurrence on this album is the appearance of Connie’s daughters Julie\, Jeanne and Jodi with her\, adding striking family harmonies to the contemporary hymn “Take My Hand.” “My five kids all know every word to every one of my songs\,” Connie notes\, “and we always sang at home. You’ll hear that my daughters are really good; they just never had the desire to be professionals. Neither did my two sons\, Darren and Kerry\, who also sing well.” \nThat Connie Smith always prioritized family life over career (and with no conflict about that\, she notes) is one reason she may be better known in the households of long-time traditional country music lovers than some others. She’d taken a break from appearances and recording to raise those kids\, and\, as she puts it “never went back into business in full force\,” though she has been a much-loved mainstay at the Grand Ole Opry. \nIt is a Nashville legend that Connie’s first record\, the aching and unforgettable “Once a Day\,” written by Bill Anderson and recorded on July 16\, 1964 when she was just 23\, became one of the most celebrated singles in country music history—the first debut single by a female country singer to go to Number One\, a position it held for eight weeks. Forty-seven years later it is still the only first single ever to have done that. When Connie sang “Once A Day” in the all-star B-movie musical Second Fiddle to a Steel Guitar the following year\, she was introduced on-screen as “The Cinderella of Country Music.” “Once A Day\,” and her stunning rendition of “How Great Thou Art” remain the two most requested songs by her fans to this day. Connie’s memorable string of hits would include “You and Your Sweet Love” “If It Ain’t Love” “Where Is My Castle?” “Run Away Little Tears” “Just One Time” and “I Never Once Stopped Loving You.” \nThe passion for singing and for the songs\, and the singular vocal precision in delivering them that marked those standards-to-be are fully on display in this return to recording. “If you add up all the songs on this album\,” Connie Smith says\, “it would add up to my personality. It’s me talking again\, after so many years\, with a message no different than I’ve always had. It’s just that I love you\, and I want that love to come back.”

For our 100th Anniversary\, Peoples Bank presents Chicago in one of the most intimate settings they’ve ever played. \nHailed as one of the “most important bands in music since the dawn of the rock and roll era\,” Chicago came in at #4 in Billboard Magazine’s recent Top Bands And Duos\, the highest charting American band in the chart’s history. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016\, Chicago is the first American rock band to chart Top 40 albums in six consecutive decades. \nChicago’s first album\, Chicago Transit Authority\, was inducted into the GRAMMY Hall Of Fame in 2014\, and the band performed on the Grammy stage for the first time that year. \nRobert Lamm and James Pankow have become the latest inductees of the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017. These legendary songwriters wrote mega-hits such as\, “25 or 6 to 4\,” “Saturday In The Park\,” “Feelin’ Stronger Every Day\,” “Make Me Smile\,” and many others. \nMore than 40 years after its debut\, Chicago still sounds like nothing else. Released in 1970\, Chicago’s second album brims with confidence and inspiration as it draws on everything from orchestral music to heavy rock. It spawned a trio of Top Ten hits\, and the timeless classic has been remastered to reveal unprecedented clarity and definition. For the first time a new stereo remix\, created by British musician and producer Steven Wilson from the 16-track multi-track tapes\, made it possible to bring out elements that were muffled or submerged in the mix. The result is a new stereo version of CHICAGO II that boasts clearness\, punch and definition that it didn’t have before. It has recently been released by Rhino Records on CD and vinyl. \nCHICAGO’s award-winning documentary film\, Now More Than Ever: The History Of Chicago premiered on CNN. His mother\, a teacher\, and his father\, a mechanical engineer\, instilled the importance of education and the necessity to question authority—lessons that influenced Black throughout his life. He fell in love with the theatre at age 12\, after seeing his first play\, which led to pursuing a career in drama. Degrees followed from the University of North Carolina and Yale Drama School\, with a stint in Colorado owning a theatre with a group of friends in the interim. During his tenure at UNC\, Black ventured into stand-up\, performing at Cat’s Cradle in Chapel Hill. In addition to overseeing the works on stage\, Black emceed every show. As the West Bank grew\, so did Black’s stand-up skills. He left the West Bank in the late 1980s to pursue stand-up full time. \nIn 1996\, his friend Lizz Winstead tapped him to create a weekly segment for Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show.” The segment\, a three-minute rant about whatever was bothering him at the moment\, evolved into Back in Black\, becoming one of the most popular and longest-running segments on the show for both the Jon Stewart era\, and now The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.  Black has also taped four specials for the “Comedy Central Presents” series\, co-created “Last Laugh with Lewis Black” and presided over “Lewis Black’s The Root of All Evil.” His popular appearances on Comedy Central helped to win him Best Male Stand-Up at the American Comedy Awards in 2001. \nIncreased exposure from “The Daily Show” generated a record deal with Stand Up! He lent his voice to Jimmy in Bob Saget’s parody “Farce of the Penguins” (Thinkfilm). \nIn 2015\,  Black notably voiced the character “Anger” in the Academy Award winning film from Pixar\, “Inside Out.” The film is about an 11-year-old-girl\, Riley\, who is dealing with a move across the country\, and wrestling with the emotions inside her head: Joy (Amy Poehler)\, Sadness (Phyllis Smith)\, Fear (Bill Hader)\, Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and\, Lewis Black. Early film pitches actually named the comedian to illustrate how an iconic voice like Black’s could bring a character like Anger to life. Black\, who’s a fan of all things Pixar\, calls the opportunity a career-defining role. “I knew from the very beginning that this was going to be special\,” he says. “I’ll be remembered as this little red guy who yells and his head goes on fire.” \nAs a long time mentor with the 52nd Street Project\, Black was roasted in Charred Black 2007\, which drew the largest fundraising numbers in the Project’s history. He’s a member of their advisory board\, is co-chair of their capital campaign\, and in 2000\, the Ron Black Memorial Scholarship Fund was created in memory of his late brother. He\, along with Kentucky Thunder\, are 8-time winners of the International Bluegrass Music Association Instrumental Group of the Year. Skaggs struck his first chords on a mandolin over 50 years ago\, and he continues to do his part to lead the recent roots revival in music. Clearly his passion for it puts him in the position to bring his lively\, distinctively American form of music out of isolation and into the ears and hearts of audiences across the country and around the world. Ricky Skaggs is always forging ahead with cross-cultural\, genre-bending musical ideas and inspirations. \nA Lifetime of Music\nWith 12 consecutive Grammy-nominated classics behind him\, all from his own Skaggs Family Records label (Bluegrass Rules! in 1998\, Ancient Tones in 1999\, History of the Future in 2001\, Soldier of the Cross\, Live at the Charleston Music Hall\, and Big Mon: The Songs of Bill Monroe in 2003\, Brand New Strings in 2005\, Instrumentals in 2007\, Salt of the Earth with The Whites in 2008\, Honoring the Fathers of Bluegrass: Tribute to 1946 and 1947 in 2009 and Ricky Skaggs Solo: Songs My Dad Loved along with Mosaic in 2010)\, the diverse and masterful tones made by the gifted Skaggs come from a life dedicated to playing music that is both fed by the soul and felt by the heart. \nRicky was born on July 18\, 1954 in Cordell\, Kentucky\, and received his first mandolin at the age of five after his father\, Hobert\, heard him harmonizing with his mother from across the house as he played with his toys. Two weeks after teaching him the G\, C and D chords\, Hobert returned from working out of town shocked to see his young son making chord changes and singing along. He soon earned a reputation among the locals in his community. When the legendary Bill Monroe came to Martha\, Kentucky for a performance\, the crowd wouldn’t let up until “Little Ricky Skaggs” got up to play. The father of bluegrass called six- year-old Skaggs up and placed his own mandolin around his neck\, adjusting the strap to fit his small frame. No one could have imagined what a defining moment that would be in the life of the young prodigy. By age seven\, Skaggs performed with bluegrass legends Flatt & Scruggs on their popular syndicated television show\, for which he earned his first paycheck for a musical performance. \nIn 1971\, he entered the world of professional music full-time with his friend\, the late country singer\, Keith Whitley\, when the two young musicians were invited to join the band of bluegrass patriarch Ralph Stanley. Ricky soon began to build a reputation for creativity and excitement through live appearances and recordings with acts such as J.D. Crowe & the New South. He performed on the band’s 1975 debut album for Rounder Records\, which is widely regarded as one of the most influential bluegrass albums ever made. A stint as a bandleader with Boone Creek followed\, bringing the challenges of leadership while giving him further recording and performing experience. \nIn the late 1970’s\, Ricky turned his attention to country music. Though still in his 20’s\, the wealth of experience and talent he possessed served him well\, first as a member of Emmylou Harris’ Hot Band and later as an individual recording artist on his own. With the release of Waitin’ for the Sun to Shine in 1981\, Skaggs reached the top of the country charts and remained there throughout most of the 1980’s\, resulting in a total of 12 #1 hits. In 1982\, he became a member of the Grand Ole Opry\, the youngest to ever be inducted at that time. As his popularity soared\, he garnered eight awards from the Country Music Association (CMA)\, including “Entertainer of the Year” in 1985\, four Grammy Awards and dozens of other honors. These achievements also placed him front and center in the neo-traditionalist movement\, bringing renewed vitality and prominence to a sound that had been somewhat subdued by the commercialization of the ‘Urban Cowboy’ fad. Renowned guitarist and producer\, Chet Atkins\, even credited Skaggs with “single-handedly” saving country music. \nIn 1997\, after Ricky’s then-current recording contract was coming to an end\, he made the decision to establish his own record label – Skaggs Family Records. Since then\, Skaggs and his band Kentucky Thunder have released an amazing 12 consecutive Grammy-nominated classics (8 of which went on to earn the revered award) while also opening the label to a variety of other musical artists\, all the time keeping emphasis on bluegrass and other forms of roots music. Ricky and Skaggs Family Records have had the privilege of working with many musical talents\, including the Del McCoury Band\, Jerry and Tammy Sullivan\, Blue Highway\, The Whites\, Mountain Heart\, Melonie Cannon\, Ryan Holladay\, Keith Sewell\, Cherryholmes and Cadillac Sky. \nRicky’s first release for Skaggs Family Records\, Bluegrass Rules!\, set a new standard for bluegrass\, breaking new sales records in the genre\, winning Skaggs his sixth Grammy Award and earning the International Bluegrass Music Association’s (IBMA) Album of the Year Award. In 1999\, his second all-bluegrass album\, Ancient Tones\, won a Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album – his second consecutive Grammy in that same category. Just one year later\, Ricky won his eighth Grammy Award in the Best Southern\, Country or Bluegrass Gospel Album category for Soldier of the Cross\, his first all-gospel project with his band Kentucky Thunder. \nRicky made further progress with the release of his fourth bluegrass album in 2000\, Big Mon: The Songs of Bill Monroe\, a project which featured an all-star cast of musicians ranging from Dolly Parton\, Patty Loveless and Travis Tritt to Joan Osborne\, John Fogerty and Bruce Hornsby\, and celebrated the music and the life of Ricky’s mentor\, Bill Monroe. Big Mon received much critical acclaim\, including a Grammy nomination for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals. The album was re-released by Lyric Street Records in 2002 under a new name\, Ricky Skaggs and Friends Sing the Songs of Bill Monroe. His fifth bluegrass album\, History of the Future (2001)\, a timeless collection of both traditional bluegrass standards and newly conceived acoustic gems received rave reviews and industry accolades\, including a Grammy nomination for Best Bluegrass Album and an IBMA nomination for Album of the Year\, once again placing Skaggs among the leading innovators in the genre. \nSkaggs’ first all-live album with Kentucky Thunder\, Live at the Charleston Music Hall (2003) led to an IBMA Award for Instrumental Group of the Year – an award Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder has taken home 8 times in the last decade. The decision to record a live album was an obvious one for Skaggs. From a string of high-profile tour dates with the Dixie Chicks in 2000\, to his position as host of the unprecedented “All*Star Bluegrass Celebration” which aired nationwide on PBS in 2002\, to his participation in the wildly successful 41-city ‘Down from the Mountain’ tour – Ricky has become one of bluegrass’ most dynamic and sought-after live performers. Live at the Charleston Music Hall was honored in 2004 with a Grammy Award for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group for the Harley Allen-penned track\, “A Simple Life.” \nHe counts the current configuration of Kentucky Thunder among the best group of musicians he has ever worked with. “This group of guys meets my approval every night\,” Ricky says. “Each and every one of the pickers in Kentucky Thunder totally amazes me in every show…and that\, to me\, outweighs any award we could ever win.” The all-star lineup of Kentucky Thunder includes Paul Brewster (tenor vocals\, rhythm guitar)\, Russ Carson (banjo)\, Jake Workman (lead guitar)\, Mike Barnett (fiddle)\, Dennis Parker (baritone vocals\, guitar) and Jeff Picker (bass\, bass vocals). \nIn 2005\, Ricky earned his 10th career Grammy (Best Bluegrass Album) for Brand New Strings – a beautiful collection of music featuring four Skaggs originals as well as several tunes by some of his most admired contemporaries\, including Harley Allen\, Guy Clark and Shawn Camp. In 2006\, Skaggs was honored with a Grammy Award – this time in the Best Musical Album for Children category – for his contribution to Songs from the Neighborhood: the Music of Mister Rogers. Greater success followed with the release of Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder Instrumentals\, an album of all-original\, all- instrumental material in the fall of 2006. Praised by fans and critics alike as a landmark album for Skaggs\, Instrumentals debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s bluegrass album chart and earned Ricky his 12th career Grammy Award (Best Bluegrass Album). \nCross pollination has been a mainstay throughout Ricky’s career\, from his weekly collaborations with various artists as host of The Nashville Network’s Monday Night Concerts in the 1990’s to his recent pairings with Bruce Hornsby and The Whites. Released in March of 2007\, Ricky Skaggs and Bruce Hornsby (Sony/Legacy) drew from the deep roots in mountain music – adding piano and Hornsby’s inimitable songwriting to the core bluegrass lineup of mandolin\, guitar\, bass\, fiddle and banjo. A major ‘CMT Crossroads’ special coincided with the album’s release. \nHis next recorded project\, released in September of 2007 on Skaggs Family Records\, was a literal family affair. After years of blending their voices from the living room to the stage\, Ricky Skaggs and The Whites teamed up for their first collaborative gospel album\, Salt of the Earth\, which resulted in a 13th career Grammy Award for Best Southern\, Country or Bluegrass Gospel Album\, followed by a Gospel Music Association Dove Award for Bluegrass Recorded Album of the Year and Inspirational Country Music Awards for Musician of the Year as well as Mainstream Country Artist of the Year and Inspirational Bluegrass Artist of the Year (with The Whites). \nIn 2008\, Skaggs paid tribute to the man he has often referred to as his “musical father”\, Bill Monroe\, and the original lineup of the Bluegrass Boys (Earl Scruggs\, Lester Flatt\, Chubby Wise and Howard Watts) with the release of Honoring the Fathers of Bluegrass: Tribute to 1946 and 1947\, earning a 14th career Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album. \nA musical father in his own right\, Skaggs continued on the full circle path with the addition of a ReIssue Series of his groundbreaking country music masterworks to the Skaggs Family Records catalog in 2009. Beginning with 1982’s Highways & Heartaches\, and followed by 1981’s Waitin’ for the Sun to Shine and 1983’s Don’t Cheat in Our Hometown\, the ReIssue Series will include nine albums total and includes bonus retrospectives with each release\, which feature Ricky\, in his own words\, sharing never-before-told stories about the making of each project. \nSkaggs’ first-ever solo album\, Ricky Skaggs Solo: Songs My Dad Loved (2009)\, celebrated the man that caused him to fall in love with music – his father\, Hobert Skaggs. He elaborates\, “If I could’ve gotten my dad into the studio\, this is how I would’ve wanted him to sound.” Playing every instrument and singing every note on the album\, Ricky brought raw\, emotional honesty to the songs. By coming home to the music that meant so much to him as a child\, Ricky tapped into a wellspring of passion that is channeled into every tune\, as though he willed himself back to his family’s house in Kentucky. Solo was honored in the American roots field with a Grammy nomination for Best Traditional Folk Album in 2010. \nRicky Skaggs’ album\, Mosaic (2010)\, marked a return to a full band sound that mixed elements of Country music with Beatles-esque melody and lyrics that spoke to Skaggs’ faith\, “making music that is in my head and in my heart\,” as Ricky said. Grammy winning songwriter/producer Gordon Kennedy\, who co-wrote Eric Clapton’s “Change the World\,” was instrumental as co-producer and writer. This most special album hooks the heart\, as the sounds invite you in to take notice and come closer. They blended their talents and love of music with their love for the Lord to create this distinctive collaboration of writing and talent\, unparalleled in strength of genius. The song\, “Return to Sender” from Mosaic was nominated for a Grammy for Best Gospel Song\, and the album was a contender for Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album at the 53rd Grammy Awards\, receiving major critical acclaim. \nMarking Ricky’s 50th year in music was the release of Country Hits Bluegrass Style (2011)\, a compilation of many of Skaggs’ #1 country hits and fan favorites played in a bluegrass style. Combining his country and bluegrass roots along with Ricky’s impeccable tenor voice\, his eight time IBMA Instrumental Band of the Year\, Kentucky Thunder\, and some of Ricky’s original award-winning country band alumni together with special friends added to the magic of this release. \nLong awaited by country and bluegrass music fans alike\, Music To My Ears (2012) included fresh new bluegrass tunes co-written by Skaggs along with a brand new instrumental. Many bluegrass standards were incorporated and added to its charm. The album featured a duet with Ricky Skaggs and Barry Gibb (of Bee Gees fame) on deeply moving “Soldier’s Son\,” along with a new bluegrass treasure “You Can’t Hurt Ham\,” inspired by a true story of Mr. Bill Monroe. \nIn 2013\, music legends Ricky Skaggs and Bruce Hornsby came together again for a live album\, titled Cluck Ol’ Hen. Bluegrass treasures and lively expanded hits are to be discovered on this fresh collection of songs from the masterful duo of Skaggs and Hornsby. These live songs were originally recorded when the two music icons first hit the tour circuit together. Hornsby’s spirited piano brings a new dimension to these songs\, with electrifying solos and improvisation thrown in the mix of Skaggs\, Hornsby and Skaggs’ band\, Kentucky Thunder. A string of tour dates coincided with the release\, including a stop at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville\, Tenn. \nWith the release of Hearts Like Ours (2014)\, a dream came true for Ricky Skaggs and his wife\, celebrated artist Sharon White of The Whites. Previously in 1987 the pair won a CMA Vocal Duo of the Year award for “Love Can’t Ever Get Better Than This\,” but White was touring with her family band and Skaggs was on fire with his solo career\, so releasing a full project wasn’t possible at the time. This first-ever studio album was produced by Skaggs and White and features the couple dueting on handpicked country love songs. \nAs a musician\, Skaggs is a brilliant traditionalist but is also willing to mix genres\, recording and touring with many different artists such as Bruce Hornsby and Ry Cooder. With dates in 2015\, Ry Cooder\, Sharon White and Ricky Skaggs embarked upon the critically acclaimed ‘Cooder-White-Skaggs – Songs for the Good People’ tour that featured the trio singing gospel\, blues and country along with superior musicianship. Backing the trio was Mark Fain on bass\, Ry’s son Joachim Cooder on drums\, with Sharon’s father Buck White on piano and sister Cheryl White’s harmony vocals. Stops crossing the country included Berklee Performance Center in Boston and Carnegie Hall in New York\, with tour dates continuing into 2016. Most recently\, Skaggs has added Country tour dates as he plugs in and plays full shows of his chart-topping hits \nSkaggs has also demonstrated wizardry in the studio\, producing not only his records but sets from acts such as The Whites and Dolly Parton\, as well as the recent Love Remains disc from Hillary Scott & The Scott Family\, which won him his 15th Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album as a producer. \nAll of these talents and gifts has culminated in country music’s greatest honor\, as Skaggs was chosen to be forever immortalized in the prestigious Country Music Hall of Fame as a member of the class of 2018. \nJohnny Staats & The Delivery Boys\n \nBorn and raised in West Virginia Johnny Staats caught the bluegrass bug early. With his mother playing piano\, his father playing guitar\, and his sister on the banjo\, it seemed only natural that he would get his first mandolin at the age of seven. By the age of nine\, he was in his first band\, and in his teens he began appearing at local competitions. When he graduated from high school in 1988\, he married and took a job as a U.P.S. deliveryman\, but he continued to play and attend bluegrass festivals in his spare time. He won he Ohio State Guitar Championship in 1992 and again in 1993. In 1995\, his Crossroads Band won the band competition at Winterhawk\, NY\, and he won the guitar competition at MerleFest. He took the mandolin championship a the Vandalia Gathering in Charleston\, WV\, in 1996\, 1997\, and 1999; in 1997\, he also won the guitar championship and came in third in the fiddle championship. With that\, he was featured on the Mountain Stage radio series and people in Nashville began touting his talents. After recording a series of demos with Nashville bluegrass stars\, he was signed to Giant Records\, which released his debut album\, Wires & Wood\, in 2000. “Wires and Wood” demonstrates Johnny’s dazzlling mandolin and expressive voice with a stellar cast of bluegrass legends including: John Cowan\, Sam Bush\, Jerry Douglas\, Jim Hurst\, and Tim O’Brien. Other co-stars on the CD were Sara Evans and Kathy Mattea. \nTo date\, Staats continues to head out every day in his big brown UPS truck\, and no matter how busy he gets with his music\, folks around Sandyville\, West Virginia area can still count on Johnny to deliver right on time.

His first goal was to reorganize the company from a small group to a world renowned production company. He chose the United States of America as his starting point. DESCRIPTION:The Stage Door “Listening Room Series”\nJoin us for a special evening in an intimate setting at The Stage Door with three veteran songwriters: Jess Baldwin\, RJ Cowdery\, and Morgan Leigh Stubbe. \nJESS BALDWIN\n \nJess Baldwin’s voice has been described as “world class\,” “effortless\,” and “pure beauty.” After a period of exploring many different styles as a singer\, she found her home in a blend of indie soul\, pop\, and jazz once she began writing later in her career. She appeared on American Public Television’s Songs at the Center in 2018\, NPR’s Mountain Stage with The Fields of Gettysburg in 2013\, was a quarterfinalist in the 2015 and 2017 American Traditions Competitions\, and won Best Cover Song in the 2015 and 2017 Ohio Music Awards. Outside of performing\, Jess wears many hats including voice teacher\, vocal coach\, voice pedagogue\, writer\, conductor\, and music director. And now\, 10 years on the road and 3 recordings later\, she is excited to share her BRAND NEW record called WHAT IF THIS IS ALL THERE IS\, produced by Amy Speace. \nMORGAN LEIGH STUBBE\n  \n \nMorgan Leigh Stubbe grew up in Parkersburg\, WV and hasn’t strayed far since. She lives near downtown with her son Ben and their two cats\, in a home that is always filled with music. Morgan is a self-taught pianist and guitarist\, though she’ll tell you she is first a songwriter\, then a singer\, and finally a musician.

DESCRIPTION:“Mozart & Salieri”\nThe RCSO’s first concert of 2019 features an intriguing pairing\, with music from rival composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri. Mozart’s famous Symphony No.40 and Clarinet Concerto in A Major are followed by an introduction to works by his lesser-known contemporary. \nThe Winter Concert will be held at 3:00 PM on March 3rd\, at the Peoples Bank Theatre\, 222 Putnam Street\, Marietta.
