Perhaps most impressively\, Clint wrote or co-wrote every one of his more than three dozen chart hits\, including “A Better Man\,” “Where Are You Now\,” “When My Ship Comes In\,” “A Good Run of Bad Luck\,” “Summer’s Comin’\,” “Like the Rain” and “Nothin’ But the Taillights\,” part of a catalog that produced 22 #1 singles and made him one of the most successful singer/songwriters of the modern era. \nAlong the way\, Clint has sold over 20 million records\, earned more than a dozen gold and platinum awards in the U.S. and Canada\, landed nearly two dozen major awards and nominations\, including more than a dozen Grammy nominations\, and earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. \n \nAbout Sienna Stocky\nSienna Stocky is a young and talented singer songwriter with a distinctive voice that will quickly capture your heart.  Sienna’s music is in the alternative vein and her lyrics are well beyond her nineteen years.  Her music hints of Celtic influences but with a youthful American edge.  Sienna has recorded her own material at MovieSound Studios with Emmy Award-winning producer/composer David Traugh.  Her first CD\, “Intertwined” is now available on iTunes or at siennasongs.com.  Sienna will also be appearing on the PBS show “Songs at the Center” which will air in May\, 2018 on 146 stations in 25 states. \nSienna first sang on stage at a small music festival in the hills of southeast Ohio when she was just four years old.  At the age of nine\, she was singing in front of thousands at campaign stops for Vice President Joe Biden. \nSeveral years of traditional piano lessons helped provide a good musical foundation but Sienna always felt confined by the written score and began to compose her own melodies.  Despite this\, she was hesitant to pair up her original piano pieces with lyrics.  She explains\, “One day I was playing a piece I had written when my dad convinced me to just hum along with it”.  Within three months Sienna was writing her own songs with both words and music.  Sienna is now accompanying herself on both piano and guitar and has become a prolific songwriter. Sienna has made a deliberate effort not to emulate other artists and has developed a sound and style which is compelling\, recognizable\, and all her own.

DESCRIPTION:Long before Americana music had a name\, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band helped lead the charge\, mixing elements of country\, bluegrass\, folk\, mountain music\, and rock & roll into a sound that celebrated the full range of American music. The guys were traditionalists and trendsetters\, performing songs that nodded to the past while still pushing toward the future. Released in 1972 – just six years after the group formed in Southern California – Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s Will the Circle Be Unbroken still stands as one of the most beloved albums in the country catalog\, pairing the young band with legends like Roy Acuff\, Doc Watson\, Earl Scruggs\, and Mother Maybelle Carter. \n \nMany decades have passed since that milestone album’s release\, with the members of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band now enjoying their own legendary status. They continue to blur lines between genres\, however\, and Circlin’ Back accomplishes something very similar to the classic Will the Circle Be Unbroken\, pairing the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band with the hit-makers\, rule-breakers\, and iconic figures of today’s roots music community. This time\, Hanna\, Fadden\, and Carpenter are the elder statesmen\, passing down their influence and inspiration to a younger class without giving up the torch just yet. DESCRIPTION:Come see this perennial holiday classic\, choreographed by Duncan Noble and restaged by SYBC Artistic Director Velma Schrader. This condensed version of the ballet takes place in the dreams of young Clara\, in which she receives dolls who take life as the dancers. Set to the classical music of Tchaikovsky\, Clara’s Christmas Eve dream begins with a visit from the angels and the Sugar Plum Fairy\, and continues with the magical surprises from Herr Drosselmeyer. The ballet was set after the original Ivanov choreography specifically for the youth dancers of SYBC by the late Duncan Noble\, world-renowned dancer\, teacher\, choreographer\, and former Dean of Dance at the North Carolina School of the Arts.

SUMMARY:The Polar Express
DESCRIPTION:Come aboard the Polar Express\, a magical train heading to the North Pole. Tom Hanks stars as the conductor—as well as five other roles! Based on the award-winning storybook written by Chris Van Allsburg\, this Christmas story tells of a boy who has reached an age when his belief in Santa is beginning to falter. \nThe young and young-at-heart are encouraged to come dressed in Christmas pajamas and enjoy the show. Santa will be on hand to hear Christmas wishes\, and true to the Polar Express experience\, hot chocolate and cookies will be available\, too. \nLate one Christmas Eve\, a young boy is lying awake waiting for the sound of sleigh bells ringing from Santa’s sleigh. Five minutes to midnight his room begins to shake\, and he hears a thunderous sound outside his window. The boy jumps from his bed and sees a train in the middle of his street. The boy grabs his robe and rushes out the front door to look at the train. The train’s conductor asks the boy if he is getting aboard. The boy asks\, ‘Where are you going?’ ‘To the North Pole\, of course. This is the Polar Express!’ replies the conductor. At the last minute\, the boy jumps on the train and finds other young boys and girls going to the North Pole. Their adventure begins. On the train he meets more children\, among them a know-it-all\, a clever girl and a poor boy. During the trip to the North Pole\, there are several complications before the end of the journey comes. When they reach the North Pole\, the children meet Santa Claus\, and the boy gets the very first Christmas present of the year—a sleigh bell from Santa’s sleigh. They return safely to their homes in time for Christmas Day\, and the boy finds the Christmas present from Santa beneath his tree.

DESCRIPTION:Discover the folk sounds of rural China right in your own backyard. Share the ancient melodies and captivating instruments of Manhu\, lively musicians from a remote landscape of small towns\, quiet lakes\, and forests made of stone. Experience this exciting American debut and connect to an age-old culture made modern. \nHailing from the Stone Forest of Yunnan Province in southwestern China\, Manhu brings to life the traditions of the Yi people\, an ethnic minority group with a rich musical history. Playing the hulusheng\, a mouth organ made from dried gourds\, and even an ordinary leaf used as a reed\, Manhu shares instruments and songs that are well-known in their homeland but rarely seen on an international stage. The ensemble has performed throughout China\, but this is their first international tour. \n\n \n\nA program of Arts Midwest\, the 2017–2019 Arts Midwest World Fest cycle is generously supported by the National Endowment for the Arts\, The Hearst Foundations\, 3M\, the Japan Foundation through the Performing Arts JAPAN program\, the Kaufman Family Fund for Israeli Cultural Exchange\, the Nordic Culture Fund\, and the BNSF Railway Foundation. Giddens\, a vocalist\, violinist\, banjo player and a founding member of the Grammy-winning country\, blues and old-time music band Carolina Chocolate Drops\, will bring an expanded version of the Carolina Chocolate Drops and songs from her debut solo album “Tomorrow Is My Turn.” The Greensboro\, North Carolina\, native is also a founding member of the super group New Basement Tapes\, a studio collaboration celebrating the discovery of never-seen Bob Dylan lyrics from his legendary 1967 recordings known as the Basement Tapes.

Learn about member benefits. \nCome savor the last nights of summer with us in this special concert… Close your eyes\, and picture the paper lanterns swaying in the breeze\, the fragrance of the season’s last sweet blossoms\, and a table set for a feast of summer-inspired songs from Broadway and the American Songbook. Mid-Ohio Valley singers Su Voycik-Meredith\, David Rexroad\, Amanda DeBarr Stevens\, and R.J. Lowe will provide a delightful menu of melodies\, including Moondance\, Shenandoah\, Under the Boardwalk\, Walkin’ After Midnight\, Those Lazy\, Crazy Days of Summer\, as well as selections from Wicked\, Cinderella\, Porgy and Bess\, and Follies. \nBefore the concert\, join us for a reception and art showing by artist Beth Nash\, 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.\, with light hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. An instructor in the art department at Marietta College\, Beth shows her work in art shows and galleries throughout the United States. Previous to her work as a fine artist\, Beth spent 25 years as a fabric and clothing designer. Her work can be found on Facebook and Instagram. \nBlue in the Face\, by Beth Nash\n\n\n\n\n  \n Su Voycik-Meredith\, a lifetime Mariettan\, has been making the stage at the Peoples Bank Theatre her new home\, having recently portrayed Fraulein Schneider in Cabaret\, as part of the Hipp Stage/Marietta College Summer Stock\, and also last year as Aunt Eller in Oklahoma! Having over 40 years of experience in professional\, regional and community theatre\, some of her favorite roles have included\, Mrs. Lovett (Sweeney Todd)\, Eva Peron (Evita)\, Audrey (Little Shop of Horrors) and Eliza Doolittle (My Fair Lady). Su remains grateful for the many opportunities she receives to share her talents with the Mid-Ohio Valley. \nDavid Rexroad\, a Parkersburg native\, thrilled audiences in the off-Broadway production of The Fantasticks and called Manhattan his home for 40 years. He did perform in many fund raising efforts in Wood County for the Blennerhassett Drama Association and the YMCA\, FRIENDS OF YOUTH musical revues at the Smoot Theatre and is an instructor at Camp Vaudeville teaching local youth performers all he knows about performance. He now resides in Parkersburg and is an actor and director at the Actors Guild of Parkersburg. David is passionate about theatre and about being a mountaineer. \nAmanda DeBarr Stevens is a graduate of PHS\, and WVU-P and the proud mother of two daughters. Mandy began entertaining audiences very young as a charter member of Young Artists International\, and continues to perform in local theater at the Actors Guild. In addition to her Administrative work at Artsbridge\, she is also a catalog artist for them. With her rich theatre background\, she brings characters to life through her joy for singing and honesty. She is a member of the singing group\, “ ShhhBang” and performs with the dance band\, MIXX. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nR.J. Lowe began his life in theater 31 years ago in “The King & I” at the Actors Guild of Parkersburg. Since then he has performed in over 50 shows at the Guild\, as well as and professionally (“Nunsense A-Men!\,” “Two By Two\,” “Grease!\,” “Lend Me a Tenor\,” “It’s a Wonderful Life\,” “A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum\,” and more) R.J. He is the proud recipient of the AACT Best Actor Award and several OCTA Outstanding awards for his portrayal of Alvin Kelby in “The Story of My Life.” He has also won many other OCTA awards and three MOVP Khalil Awards (actor/director – “Nunsense A-Men!” and actor – “…Charlie Brown”).  A Vienna native\, R.J. is a 1998 graduate of NYC’s The American Musical and Dramatic Academy.
