SUMMARY:Delbert McClinton
DESCRIPTION:Presented with the Mid-Ohio Valley Blues\, Jazz\, & Folk Music Society and the 26th Annual River City Blues Festival \n*ON SALE NOW*\n Tickets: $26 | $32 | $38 | Limited VIP Seats $75 \nWith Guest Opener Sadie Johnson \nDelbert McClinton & Self-Made Men with their 2017 album release: Prick Of The Litter \nThere are two kinds of people in the world: those who love Delbert McClinton and those who haven’t heard him yet. Delbert is always working on that second group. \nLyle Lovett has said\, “If we could all sing like we wanted to\, we’d all sing like Delbert.” \nThe multi-Grammy Award winning artist is at the top of his game with his 19th studio album\, Prick Of The Litter (Hot Shot Records/Thirty Tigers). The new offering captures the balance of soulful energy and restraint that the legendary performer has been delivering in his live performances for decades all over the world. On Prick of the Litter\, Delbert incorporates a variety of styles\, and as always\, just enough to keep him comfortably outside the traditional marketing categories. \nPrick Of The Litter blends Delbert’s signature rhythm and blues sound with a newer jazz-influence inspired by Johnny Mercer\, Nat King Cole and other legendary crooners. He includes some upbeat traditional blues (“Don’t Do It”) with a romantic take on Tony Bennett’s San Francisco (“San Miguel”) while “Skip Chaser” paints a vivid picture of the perils of the profession. A highlight is the album’s closer\, the gentle and hopeful “Rosy.” McClinton’s road band\, Self-Made Men provide a hard-driving rhythm section\, powerful guitars and innovative piano\, accented by punched-up horns. Delbert’s definitive vocals and distinct harmonica licks bring it all together. \nDelbert McClinton has been a leading Americana artist since before the genre was established. He has won two Grammy awards in the blues category for Best Contemporary Blues Album; and one in the rock category (Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group)\, with Bonnie Raitt for “Good Man\, Good Woman”. \nDelbert’s unique musical style grew from his Texas music beginnings. Influenced at a young age by Tejano\, Western Swing\, Rhythm and Blues and War songs\, he developed a signature sound that served him well. \nDelbert grew up around Lubbock and Fort Worth\, and spent his early career in the desegregating roadhouses of Fort Worth’s Jacksboro Highway\, leading the house bands for Jimmy Reed\, Muddy Waters\, Bo Diddley\, and others\, while making a local name for himself. Later\, Delbert traveled to England where he headlined shows with Bruce Channel (“Hey Baby”) with a little-known Liverpool band [The Beatles] as the opening act. He then rolled into Los Angeles as songwriters began to take top billing\, and headed back to Texas for the progressive movement and blues renaissance that helped kick off Austin’s role in American musical history. \nIf you’ve seen a live Delbert McClinton show\, you will recognize the synchronized energy on Prick Of The Litter that comes from thousands of miles of playing together. Delbert feels that his current road band\, Self-Made Men\, is the best band he’s ever had. \n“Jack Bruno [drums] is amazing. He played with Joe Cocker and with Tina Turner for years. I’ve been harder on drummers than anybody in the world\, but Jack is right there where I need him. Dana Robbins [saxophone] and Quentin ‘Q’ Ware [trumpet] punctuate the live performances in just the right places. James Pennebaker [guitar] is family. He’s been playing with me off and on since he was nineteen. Mike Joyce [bass guitar]\, Kevin McKendree [piano]\, and Bob Britt [guitar] are among my best friends\, in addition to being in the band. Mike and Kevin and I write together a lot. We wrote most of the songs on this album together.” \nDelbert\, Kevin and Bob also co-produced Prick Of The Litter. “Going into the studio with a band that’s like family creates real magic\,” says Delbert. “You have the energy of a live band. We feed off of each other. We are better together. And it always feels like they have my back.” Jimmie Vaughan and Lou Ann Barton are an added bonus on the first track. Delbert adds “I am such a fan of Lou Ann and of Jimmie. We needed a female to do a part on ‘Don’t Do It.’ Bob suggested Lou Ann\, and I knew she would be perfect. I have always loved Jimmie and Lou Ann. I had talked to Jimmie about doing something on my last album but it didn’t work out. So this time\, we went to Austin and they both came into the studio. We spent about two hours and had a lot of fun. They are both so talented.” \nDelbert wrote or co-wrote ten of the songs on the album. “By the time we wrote these songs\, Mike\, Bob and Kevin had been in my band for a long time\,” says Delbert. “We got together every Wednesday for several weeks\, and then we went to Mexico and finished writing the rest of the album.” \n2017 is a milestone year for Delbert. In addition to the release of Prick Of The Litter\, a biography is slated for release in September. He has also been nominated for Texas State Musician\, a highly acclaimed state appointment akin to poet laureate. \nPrick of the Litter is a signature project for Delbert McClinton\, and he is proud of it. “We worked hard on this and we got exactly what we wanted\,” he says. “The songs\, the band\, the production. Everything came together. We didn’t leave no chicken on the bone\,” he says. \n“I did what I came to do with this album. I guess I really am One of the Fortunate Few.”

Click here. \n78 min\nG\n1967 \nThe final animated feature produced under the supervision of Walt Disney is a lively swing musical\, based upon the tales of Rudyard Kipling. The story takes place in a tropical jungle where people are conspicuously absent. But one day Bagheera the Panther (voice of Sebastian Cabot) discovers a baby in the wreck of a boat. Feeling pity on the child\, Bagheera takes him to be raised with the wolves. Ten years later\, the child has grown into Mowgli (voice of Bruce Reitherman). Mowgli discovers that his life is in danger because of the return to the area of Shere Khan the Tiger (voice of George Sanders)\, whose hatred of humans is such that Mowgli faces certain death if discovered. Bagheera agrees to transport Mowgli to the human village\, where he will be safe from Shere Khan. Along the way to the village\, night falls and Mowgli and Bagheera almost succumb to the man-eating snake Kaa (voice of Sterling Holloway). Escaping Kaa’s coils\, they run into the lock-step military elephant band of Colonel Hathi (voice of J. Pat O’Malley). Afterwards\, Mowgli\, who doesn’t want to be sent to the human village\, runs away from Bagheera and meets up with the fun-loving Baloo the Bear (voice of Phil Harrris). With both Bagheera and Baloo to protect him\, Mowgli is saved from several more life-threatening situations — including a barber-shop quartet of vultures\, the crazed King Louie of the Apes (voice of Louis Prima)\, and Shere Khan himself — before making it to the village of humans. \nCast: \nBruce Reitherman\nLouis Prima\nSterling Holloway\nJ. SUMMARY:Guess Who's Coming to Dinner
DESCRIPTION:Love seeing classics on the big screen?\nSave on movie tickets! Get tickets for 5 or more of our upcoming films for just $5 each. Click here.\n\n108 min\nNR\n1967\n\nOld-line liberals Matt and Christina Drayton (Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn) have raised their daughter Joey (Katharine Houghton) to think for herself and not blindly conform to the conventional. Still\, they aren’t prepared for the shock when she returns home from a vacation with a new fiancé: African-American doctor John Prentice (Sidney Poitier). While they come to grips with whatever prejudices they might still harbor\, the younger folks must also contend with John’s parents (Roy Glenn Sr. and Beah Richards)\, who are dead-set against the union. To complicate matters\, the older couple’s disapproving maid (Isabel Sanford) and Christina’s bigoted business associate (Virginia Christine) put in their two cents’ worth. While Joey is determined to go ahead with the wedding no matter what people think\, John refuses to consider marriage until he receives the unqualified approval of all concerned. The closing monologue delivered by Spencer Tracy turned out to be the last scene ever played by the veteran film luminary\, who died not long after the production. The film was a success in the racially volatile year of 1967 and was nominated for 10 Academy Awards\, including Best Picture\, and won for Hepburn and screenwriter William Rose.\n\nCast:\n\nSpencer Tracy\nKatharine Hepburn\nSidney Poitier\nKatharine Houghton\nCecil Kellaway\nRoy E. SUMMARY:Tommy Dorsey Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:*ON SALE NOW*\n Tickets: $18 | $24 | $30 \nSponsored by The Eye MDs and Morrison Incorporated \n  \nIn Big Band history\, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra is recognized as one of the best all-around big bands. It could swing with the best of them\, and no other band could come close to Tommy’s when it came to playing ballads. Tommy Dorsey\, “The Sentimental Gentleman of Swing”\, was a master at creating warm\, sentimental\, and always musical moods – at superb dancing and listening tempos. Tommy sustained these moods through the arrangements of the likes of Paul Weston\, Axel Stordahl and Sy Oliver\, and he showcased singers who could project them brilliantly. \nJack Leonard sang with the band for about four years\, recording such fine sides as “Dedicated To You”\, “If It’s The Last Thing I do”\, “Little White Lies”\, “You Taught Me To Love Again”\, “Once In A While”\, and\, probably the most famous of all\, “Marie”. With the band singing vocal riffs as Jack sang the straight lyric\, “Marie” was so successful that he recorded several more standard tunes with the same formula. They include “Who”\, “Yearning”\, and “East Of The Sun”. “Song Of India”\, the other side of “Marie”\, was also a huge Dorsey hit. \nFrank Sinatra’s career blossomed with Dorsey\, and\, with Sinatra’s vocals\, the band became more successful than ever. Frank had often admitted that listening to Tommy helped him develop his phrasing and breathing\, along with his musical taste and knowledge. \nSy Oliver infused the band with a new musical spirit. It was a gentler version of the rocking\, rhythmic sounds that he had created for Jimmy Lunceford\, toned down somewhat and played with more precision by the Dorsey Band. These original tunes included “Easy Does It”\, “Quiet Please”\, “Sing High”\, “Yes\, Indeed”\, “Swingin’ On Nothing”\, “Well\, Git It”\, and “Opus No 1”. Oliver also had a unique way of approaching a straight pop tune\, injecting a soft\, two-beat feeling into. He did this with resounding success in such arrangements as “What Can I Say After I Say I’m Sorry? “\, “For You”\, “Swanee River”\, “Mandy”\, “Make Up Your Mind”\, “Chicago”\, and “On The Sunny Side Of The Street”. \nThe vocalists worked both individually and together\, turning out several hits of superior quality. There was Sinatra’s “This Love of Mine”\, Jo Stafford’s “Embraceable You”\, the Pied Pipers’ and Sinatra’s “There Are Such Things”\, “Just As Though You Were Here”\, “Street Of Dreams”\, and “Oh\, Look At Me Now”. Their biggest hit of all\, the one that established vocal groups forever\, was “I’ll Never Smile Again”. \nThe Band was at its best in this decade. In the summer of 1941\, it outranked every other band to finish first in one of the most indicative of all popularity polls\, Martin Block’s Make Believe Ballroom contest. \nBy late 1946\, it was becoming apparent that the band business was having problems. In December 1946\, eight top bandleaders announced they were calling it quits – Woody Herman\, Benny Goodman\, Harry James\, Les Brown\, Jack Teagarden\, Benny Carter\, Ina Ray Hutton and Tommy Dorsey. Essentially\, this was the official end of the Big Band Era. However\, it was Tommy Dorsey who\, in the years immediately following\, fought the case of the big bands with words and action. Less than two years later\, he was fronting a formidable new group.\nIt’s about time somebody got things going again”\, Tommy said at the time. “You can’t expect to have any real interest in dance bands if the bands don’t go around the country and play for the kids.” \nAnd so it continues. The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra is still traveling throughout the country playing “for the kids” (of all ages).

SUMMARY:Bonnie & Clyde
DESCRIPTION:Love seeing classics on the big screen?\nSave on movie tickets! Get tickets for 5 or more of our upcoming films for just $5 each. Click here. \n111 min\nR\n1967 \nProducer/star Warren Beatty had to convince Warner Bros. to finance this film\, which went on to become the studio’s second-highest grosser. Based loosely on the true exploits of Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker during the 30s\, the film begins as Clyde (Beatty) tries to steal the car of Bonnie Parker (Faye Dunaway)’s mother. Bonnie is excited by Clyde’s outlaw demeanor\, and he further stimulates her by robbing a store in her presence. Clyde steals a car\, with Bonnie in tow\, and their legendary crime spree begins. The two move from town to town\, pulling off small heists\, until they join up with Clyde’s brother Buck (Gene Hackman)\, his shrill wife Blanche (Estelle Parsons)\, and a slow-witted gas station attendant named C.W. Moss (Michael J. Pollard). The new gang robs a bank and Clyde is soon painted in the press as a Depression-era Robin Hood when he allows one bank customer to hold onto his money. Soon the police are on the gang’s trail and they are constantly on the run\, even kidnapping a Texas Ranger (Denver Pyle) and setting him adrift on a raft\, handcuffed\, after he spits in Bonnie’s face when she kisses him. That same ranger leads a later raid on the gang that leaves Buck dying\, Blanche captured\, and both Clyde and Bonnie injured. The ever-loyal C.W. takes them to his father’s house. C.W.’s father disaproves his son’s affiliation with gangsters and enters a plea bargain with the Texas Rangers. The film made stars out of Beatty and Dunaway\, and it also featured the screen debut of Gene Wilder as a mortician briefly captured by the gang. Its portrayal of Bonnie and Clyde as rebels who empathized with the poor working folks of the 1930s struck a chord with the counterculture of the 1960s and helped generate a new\, young audience for American movies that carried over into Hollywood’s renewal of the 1970s. \nCast: \nWarren Beatty\nFaye Dunaway\nMichael J. DESCRIPTION:Love seeing classics on the big screen?\nSave on movie tickets! Get tickets for 5 or more of our upcoming films for just $5 each. Click here. \n101 min\nPG\n1993 \nBill Murray plays Phil\, a TV weatherman working for a local station in Pennsylvania but convinced that national news stardom is in his grasp. Phil displays a charm and wit on camera that evaporates the moment the red light goes off; he is bitter\, appallingly self-centered\, and treats his co-workers with contempt\, especially his producer Rita (Andie MacDowell) and cameraman Larry (Chris Elliot). On February 2\, 1992\, Phil\, Rita\, and Larry are sent on an assignment that Phil especially loathes: the annual Groundhog Day festivities in Punxsutawney\, PA\, where the citizens await the appearance of Punxsutawney Phil\, the groundhog who will supposedly determine the length of winter by his ability to see his own shadow. Phil is eager to beat a hasty retreat\, but when a freak snowstorm strands him in Punxsutawney\, he wakes up the next morning with the strangest sense of déjà vu: he seems to be living the same day over again. The next morning it happens again\, and then again. Soon\, no matter what he does\, he’s stuck in February 2\, 1992; not imprisonment nor attempted suicide nor kidnapping the groundhog gets him out of the loop. But the more Phil relives the same day\, the more he’s forced to look at other people’s lives\, and something unusual happens: he begins to care about others. He starts to respect people\, he tries to save the life of a homeless man\, and he discovers that he’s falling in love with Rita and therefore wants to be someone that she could love in return. \nCast \nBill Murray\nAndie MacDowell\nChris Elliott\nStephen Tobolowsky\nBrian Doyle-Murray\nMarita Geraghty

I love the energy\, the give and take\, of being with an audience. And I love to have fun up there!” she says. Cathie happily shares the stage\, and the show\, with her award-winning band. Featuring Patsy O’Brien on guitar\, Matt Mancuso on fiddle\, and Brian Melick on percussion\, the band weaves subtle arrangements and harmonies around Cathie’s vocals and match her charming repartee with dazzling sets of traditional tunes. \nCathie Ryan Band has built a loyal following by touring internationally and singing “songs of the heart” at performing arts centers\, festivals\, folk clubs\, and with symphony orchestras. They have been featured on national and public television throughout the world. Their radio highlights include NPR’s Mountain Stage and Thistle and Shamrock\, PRI’s The World\, BBC in England and Northern Ireland\, Radio Scotland\, and RTÉ and RnaG in Ireland. \nCathie’s fifth CD\, Through Wind and Rain\, is bringing her music to a much wider audience. Irish America Magazine twice named her one of the “Top 100 Irish Americans” and liveireland.com has twice honored her as “Irish Female Vocalist of the Decade.” When not singing\, Cathie leads tours of Ireland for Rick Steves’ Europe. She also hosts pledge programming for PBS whenever possible. \n“Anyone wondering what constitutes excellence in Irish American singing today need only attend a Cathie Ryan concert.” — The Wall Street Journal

SUMMARY:The Polar Express
DESCRIPTION:$8 Adults / $5 Students and Children \nCome aboard the Polar Express\, a magical train heading to the North Pole. Tom Hanks stars as the conductor—as well as five other roles! Based on the award-winning storybook written by Chris Van Allsburg\, this Christmas story tells of a boy who has reached an age when his belief in Santa is beginning to falter. \nThe young and young-at-heart are encouraged to come dressed in Christmas pajamas and enjoy the show. Santa will be on hand to hear Christmas wishes\, and true to the Polar Express experience\, hot chocolate and cookies will be available\, too. \nLate one Christmas Eve\, a young boy is lying awake waiting for the sound of sleigh bells ringing from Santa’s sleigh. Five minutes to midnight his room begins to shake\, and he hears a thunderous sound outside his window. The boy jumps from his bed and sees a train in the middle of his street. The boy grabs his robe and rushes out the front door to look at the train. The train’s conductor asks the boy if he is getting aboard. The boy asks\, ‘Where are you going?’ ‘To the North Pole\, of course. This is the Polar Express!’ replies the conductor. At the last minute\, the boy jumps on the train and finds other young boys and girls going to the North Pole. Their adventure begins. On the train he meets more children\, among them a know-it-all\, a clever girl and a poor boy. During the trip to the North Pole\, there are several complications before the end of the journey comes. When they reach the North Pole\, the children meet Santa Claus\, and the boy gets the very first Christmas present of the year—a sleigh bell from Santa’s sleigh. They return safely to their homes in time for Christmas Day\, and the boy finds the Christmas present from Santa beneath his tree.

SUMMARY:Casee Allen
DESCRIPTION:A benefit concert for the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County \nDespite growing up in the small country town of Coshocton\, Ohio\, Allen carries an eclectic variety of musical influences like Def Leppard\, Garth Brooks\, Justin Timberlake\, Goo Goo Dolls and Neal McCoy but truly has his family’s musical history to thank for his uniquely edgy\, country infused sound\, “A lot of my family-members were singers. From 80’s rock to blues and modern country\, they covered it all.”\n\nAfter opening for Kip Moore\, the chart-topping Country rocker gave Allen the advice\, “Quit everything you’re doing\, move to Nashville and write your ass off\,” and Allen did exactly that. The very next day the hopeful singer-songwriter packed his things to seek out Music City for himself and within weeks was calling Nashville “home.”\n\nShortly after arriving in Music City\, the singer-songwriter signed a co-management deal with music industry veterans Herb Graham and Shawn Pennington\, followed by signing a publishing deal. Allen is also now part of the world-renowned William Morris Endevour’s artist roster.\n\nSince starting his musical journey\, the tenacious newcomer has performed alongside chart-topping acts such as Jake Owen\, Kip Moore\, Brad Paisley\, Chris Janson and Parmalee\, and had a full-circle moment when given the opportunity to play alongside childhood hero\, Neal McCoy.\n\nAllen continues to captivate audiences across the country with his high energy performance and charismatic spirit\, “I can’t describe the overwhelming feeling I get every time I walk on the stage. The energy from the crowd is contagious\, I get a high from it every time! That\, and of course my son Jace\, are what keep me grindin’ every day.
