Get ready for an evening of Pink Floyd, with Ohio's own Dark Side of the Moon. Many groups call themselves cover bands, but few reach the distinction of being a tribute band. That designation means more than just playing songs that another band made famous — it means performing those songs in a way that would make the original band proud.
On September 16, 1986, country music legend Randy Travis performed at the Colony Theatre in Marietta, Ohio, just as his career was taking off. Almost 30 years later on Thursday September 15, 2016, at 7:30 p.m., Travis will return to the stage of the present-day Peoples Bank Theatre. Travis will not be performing, due to a stroke he suffered three years ago, but he will make an appearance to be honored and enjoy the show.

Grammy Nominee & Mountain Stage host Larry Groce and his wife Sandra Groce, violist with the West Virginia Symphony, have made a new studio recording called “Live Forever.” (Produced by Don Dixon) It includes three of Larry’s original songs and eight covers, mostly songs connected to Mountain Stage over the years. This very well received recording is Groce’s first album in over two decades.
Maestro Turizziani has stirred up a great program of holiday-themed music, starting with The Noon Witch, Op. 108, by Antonin Dvorak, and including the Danse Macabre, by Camille Saint-Saëns, Symphony No. 8 (Unfinished) by Franz Schubert, and Violin Concerto No. 1 by Max Bruch. The RCSO will also feature the talents of Christina Bouey as violin soloist.
Rick Michel, who has performed and headlined in Las Vegas since 1981, presents "Sinatra Forever," focusing totally on the music of Frank Sinatra. Michel salutes and interprets the Ol’ Blue Eyes standards. Michel has been called: "The closest thing to Sinatra we have ever heard" by "Variety." Michel, a master impressionist for more than 40 years, has been touring his “Sinatra Forever” show around the country as well as internationally with performances in Canada, Mexico and Chile.
The Marietta College Fall Band Concert entitled Music of Heaven and Earth will feature music representing different locations on earth and will feature The Divine Comedy by Robert W. Smith. The variety of music will include Circus Days Galop by Karl L. King; Men of Ohio March by Henry Filmore; Selections from Les Misérables; Metroplex; Three Postcards for Manhattan,and Kilimanjaro-An African Portrait. In Big Band history, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra is recognized as one of the best all-around big bands. It could swing with the best of them, and no other band could come close to Tommy’s when it came to playing ballads. Tommy Dorsey, “The Sentimental Gentleman of Swing”, was a master at creating warm, sentimental, and always musical moods – at superb dancing and listening tempos. Tommy sustained these moods through the arrangements of the likes of Paul Weston, Axel Stordahl and Sy Oliver, and he showcased singers who could project them brilliantly.
