Maestro Turizziani has stirred up a great program of holiday-themed music, starting with The Noon Witch, Op. 108, by Antonin Dvorak, and including the Danse Macabre, by Camille Saint-Saëns, Symphony No. 8 (Unfinished) by Franz Schubert, and Violin Concerto No. 1 by Max Bruch. Set to the classical music of Tchaikovsky, Clara’s Christmas Eve dream begins with a visit from the angels and the Sugar Plum Fairy, and continues with the magical surprises from Herr Drosselmeyer. The ballet was set after the original Ivanov choreography specifically for the youth dancers of SYBC by the late Duncan Noble, world-renowned dancer, teacher, choreographer, and former Dean of Dance at the North Carolina School of the Arts.
