Marietta College Spring Band Concert

The Peoples Bank Theatre will come alive with the The Marietta College Spring Band Concert on Tuesday, April 25th at 7:30 p.m. The free concert will feature Matters of the Heart. The music in the performance will deal with the various emotions that individuals experience during a lifetime. Joy, sadness, shock, contemplation, laughter, happiness and many more will be explored during this concert event.
There will a world premiere of I Carry Your Heart With Me by Marietta College music theory/composition professor Dr. Andrew Francis. This composition is based on a poem by E. E. Cummings and will feature Dr. Amy Yekel, dramatic soprano, with the Marietta College Wind Ensemble.
Other special guests will include Dr. Bill Ruud, Marietta College President, as he joins the Marietta College Symphonic Band. Dr. Ruud was a high school clarinetist and will be adding his musical talents to two compositions being performed by the Symphonic Band.
The concert is open to the public and free of charge. Seats are on a first come, first serve basis. The doors will open at 6:00 p.m. for the 7:30 p.m. event.
