Position Summary
The Theatre Manager is responsible for the seamless operation of the venue and serves as the primary liaison between the theatre, its performers, patrons, and partners. This leadership role is crucial in ensuring Peoples Bank Theatre remains a premiere performing arts destination for the Mid-Ohio Valley.
Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-Day Operations
- Oversee all aspects of daily theatre operations.
- Ensure readiness of the facility for events, rehearsals, and general use.
- Oversee the theatre’s general budget, manage payroll, and ensure invoices to vendors, contractors, and artist’s agencies are paid.
- Regularly report/ meet with the Theatre’s Management and Programming team regarding theatre operations and show programming.
- Event & Show Management
- Serve as the day-of-show manager, ensuring smooth execution of all performances.
- Act as the primary point of contact for talent/performers, promoters, and technical staff.
- Assist with backstage coordination and hospitality logistics.
- Staff and Volunteer Coordination
- Recruit, schedule, and supervise front-of-house and box office staff.
- Support and collaborate with technical crew and production personnel.
- Assist in coordinating and engaging with volunteers and support teams.
- Facility Maintenance & Vendor Management
- Oversee upkeep and maintenance of theatre facilities.
- Manage relationships with service providers, contractors, and venue vendors.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of concessions, supplies, and materials.
- Patron & Community Engagement
- Serve as a welcoming representative for the theatre at performances and events.
- Ensure a high level of customer service and patron satisfaction.
- Support community outreach and engagement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in event management, venue operations, theatre management, or related field.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Experience supervising staff and coordinating volunteers.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced, public-facing environment.
- Passion for the arts and a commitment to serving the community.
Schedule & Requirements
- Full-time position with a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Physical activity is required (e.g., lifting up to 40 lbs, standing/walking for extended periods).
- Familiarity with theatre tech operations is a plus, but not required.
